"Must have" cars for online racing?

Public online racing in GT5 is plagued by Racing Soft compound beyond any reason and logic. Literally 90% of rooms that uses *road cars* and *low PP* are based on Racing Soft compound.

There is no way you can even find a room that hosts Sports Compound in 90% of tries and Comfort compound is just eradicated specie.

Having any particular car for online racing is pretty much irrelevant now. All you need are few cars that can cope inside appropriate PP levels and with both engine restrictors and weight ballast in this lunatic *50% adjustment* category you can pretty much exploit the race in your behalf.

All you need at this point is a nice - preferably duped - supply of Racing Soft compound and you're ready to GT5 Public Online in its current form.

** Oh, yeah, this too. Call me a troll once more just because you can't comprehend my point for any reason and I will report you immediately. Corrected for you mate.
So power bands, torque curves, suspension settings and geometry, aerodynamics, gearboxes, weight distribution, clutches, differentials etc etc are all nullified as long as you have racing soft tires and are at the same PP? Amazing! :dunce:

I agree with the suggestions in this thread because I race online a lot and know the tires don't make terrific cars terrible, and don't make terrible cars terrific. An NSX will do well if it's in a room with racing tires and in a room with sport tires. An Alfa 166 will be miles behind in rooms that have racing tires and will be miles behind in rooms that have comfort tires.

The single great equalizer is tires(whether it be in GT5 or real life) but that's very different from "cars are pretty much irrelevant."

And you cannot prove otherwise. Send me a friend request, my PSN id is not hidden and we can do some races. I'll use the NSX, you'll use the 166 and we should have some nailbiting races that will be decided by inches from the finish line. Until then, I stand by my original assertion; I comprehend perfectly.

S2000 (any).
NSX (any).
M3 CSL.
Ford GT LM.

They do well. Trust me, I've done A LOT of online racing in GT5.

Well, to be honest, all you need for racing online is lifetime supply of Racing Soft tires.

Cars are pretty much irrelevant.

Rubbish.

Sander 001 speaks with logic and truth. Listen to him.

My Ford GT does good from 550-620PP races. It handles much better than most of my cars and the torque band is great with upgraded supercharger or not.
I usually pull away from everyone on the straights.

Might sound cocky but it does put most of the R35 GTR's and 458 Italia's to shame on the Nuburgring atleast

real talk!:sly:

I have found that the Honda NSX Type-R and Lexus LFA are really good for 545-550pp racing. I used my NSX on sports against others with racing tires and had a 10 second lead.

Most races are 400, 500 & 650 so what i beat them easily with are:

400pp: Suzuki GSXR4 downgraded
500pp: BMW M3 CSL slightly tuned
650pp: BMW McLaren F1 GTR Race Car

I've been using the Vauxhall vx220 turbo on 400pp races lately, it's a fun little car, much like the Elise, shock horror they could almost be the same ca..... ;)

GTR '07, cheap price and great performance
used it for the 550PP races, and it worked well (with my tune :D)

I'll just briefly list some that i use at different PP's, keep in mind some are for short tracks like eiger (WRX etc.) and some are for high speed tracks like Monza (LFA etc), hope this helps:

Road Cars
Daihatsu Copen Active Top: 400 PP
Mazda Roadster (premium one) 400-450 PP
Lexus LFA: 500-550 PP
Subaru WRX Sti '10: 500-550 PP
Nissan GTR V-spec '09: 550-600 PP
Tommy Kaira ZZ-II: 550-650 PP (Only gets to around 640 PP, but is an amazing car)

Race Cars
Suzuki Cappucino RM: 400 PP (tight tracks only)
Subaru Susco Dunlop Impreza: 450-500 PP
Subaru WRX RM (only RM wrx, forget rest): 500-550 PP
Nissan GTR Yellowhat Tomica: 600-650 PP
Peugeot 908 Hdi Team Orica Matmut: 650-700 PP
Anything above: Minolta Toyota or Nissan R89C / R92CP

These, with the additions of,
Lotus Elise 111R: 500PP an absolute beast through turns and carries it through straights.
NSX: 550 I don't use it, it's over used, but it's a beast.
Nissan GTR R35: 600PP twisty tracks with tight exits
Ferrari 458: 600PP twisty tracks with tight entries
Ford GT: 600PP high speed tracks and elevation changes

Most of the tunes, not just the 458 Italia, that I see in the tuning section are like this. It's probably because they're use a DS3 and offline tuning. A lot seem to have a stiffer shock set up in the front than the rear, which is causing understeer.

I use DS3 and I have same issues, every tune I have tried makes the cars worse with very poor tyre wear!
