I have bought the Mustang SVT and its a bad SOB. I have added racing chip, stage 1 tune, racing muffler and racing brakes. And let me tell ya, its peeling up the pavement. It now has 492 H.P.
My Cobra R is runnin a little over 700 hp. With all the upgrades, it will win everything up to international a license races (some i can win, some i cant)
How can your Cobra R pump out 700 horses when it only has a total when full tuned of 681 hp, But anyhow that car is awesome it rocks on ice I have yet to be challenged by any rival except when in a ten lap race and the tires began to wear but I still won that race by like 45 secs.

I figured it out...you have to win the GT All-Stars under the Amateur League to get the Road GT40 and win the GT World Championship under the Professional League to get the Race GT40. Just FYI....
I like the Mustang SVT Cobra too - I think it was one of my first five cars. I bought it for the Beginner Stars & Stripes and later realized there was no restriction to the race and could have run my Skyline.
It's fun to resurect ancient threads. I feel like an archeologist (:
The Mustang SVT Cobra R, was my second car in the game. I sold all of the other one's so I could buy my dream car. I raced until I had $90,000. I bought a Viper GTS black with white stripes. And from then on, I was whipping.
Yeah, pretty much. That early in the game I just raced the same dumb things until I was bleeding from my eyes. When I had enough money for something big it all changed. I think I ran a blue Skyline fully modded - over 1000hp. Then I won a GT-One Road Car and I moved through the game like a tornado.
