Motor mounts, if you've got the tools and some jackstands, should take a few hours to do at home...

I may have the tools, but I lack the knowledge and jack stands. Hence why I'm wondering about a shop doing it

That Camaro looks pretty good for a grand. Surely you could find someone or a garage to fix it up a little. Other then that knock is it mechanically sound? Because for a grand it looks pretty damn good.

The knock was for a '94 Mustang GT I looked at a few weeks back. This camaro needs motor mounts, but seems otherwise mechanically sound. I'm showing my dad in the morning. It's a good hours drive away though

Rollin' in mah four point oh... Oh wait. Never mind

If it's got airbags, I'll buy!

Insurance sucks. They put a huge premium on cars without the bags =/

I could get this:

SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY PLEASE!

Lightning yellow! 89,000miles V8

Runs GREAT!!!! Has run wonderfully for me the entire time I've had it, I LOVE it! Unfortunately I can't afford it anymore!

Only needs a new motor, new transmission, some rims, some tires, a steering column, a hood, a trunk lid, 2 doors, an alternator, a radiator, an air intake, an exhaust system, new belts, an A/C, a battery, wiring, seats, seat belts, and a few other little minor things like those to get it up and running!

Has been in a minor accident and is currently 1/4 the original length (may need to beat frame out with a hammer to restore it to original size and shape, and throw on a few new panels since most of them are crushed)

All around great car! WORKS FLAWLESSLY AS IS downhill!(unless you need to brake or steer). Might need to patch gas tank as it was also crushed and has a few small 18 inch long 3 inch wide gashes on the bottom and sides of it.

Email me ASAP! This car won't last long!!! (Don't have a phone, it's stuck in the center console of the car, which also needs a bit of repair since the minor accident. If you manage to get it open I'll refund you $25 for my phone back)

Thanks!
Tim

I wanna buy something with brakes working...

For the searching you're doing for me, if using the tampa craigslist, can you try and stick to Pinellas and Hillsborough county? Or just use the sarasota craigslist

Anybody else know anything about costs of replacing motor mounts?

I'd honestly forgot about them, but I like them! Can you push some that I can negotiate to under 1500 bucks? That's all the money I have...

In other news, dad was still sick today, didn't go see the Camaro. Tommorow we're going to look at a '96 P71, and then MAYBE a '95 Mark VIII and '92 Mustang 4cly

The Mark wouldn't be bad, but be prepared for very expensive repair bills when it comes to anything with the motor.

I'm not holding out much hope on the mark. It's only $1,000. They should be about 2,300

Hmmm. Not a very nice colour and I wouldn't personally be inclined to trust something that had been tuned already. Are you really set on Mustangs such as this one? I know it's probably a boring suggestion but I'd still be inclined to suggest something a bit newer and with a smaller engine. I just think you might find something in a bit better nick - something that doesn't "need work", as in that Mustang.

I'm pretty well set on Mustangs/F-bodies of that vintage.

The problem for me is my price range is about $1500 right now. The newest things I can get there are '96 Buicks, which are the exact opposite of what I want. Due to the gas crunch from the summer, smaller cars shot up in value knocking them out of my price range. Now, the people that bought those small cars aren't putting them back on the market, or if they are it's for way more than I feel they are worth. If I had options to get something like a Focus 5spd or an Integra LS, I'd be happy. As it stands now though, all that's selling in a "decent" nick are things that just bore me or some of these pony cars.

Then there's that small factor of me bleeding a slightly diluted Ford Blue and love V8 power

unless your like me, and CAN'T find anything UNDER 2000 bucks that isn't beat to death and ready for the scrapheap :P

In my defense, I didn't have my license when this thread was started last march. I got my license January of this year. I was looking ahead, and at the same time trying to learn as much as I could before getting really serious. And, it's worked, I've learned many, many new things

Ok got news, no matter how preliminary it is.

My aunt may be in the market for a new car. She has a early 00's Corrolla. If I can get this for $1k or so(haven't talked to her, and this is as much as I'm willing to pay for a Toyota), is it worth it? Then I can have a car while saving up to get a better Mustang than what I would be buying at the moment.

Can anyone shed some light on the Corolla, as I know abso-freakin'-lutely nothing about them?

The car is still going to be pretty light, so it can't be too bad to drive. That would be a good car though I think.

Would she sell it for that little? I mean, these cars will hold their value pretty well just because there is a Toyota badge on the hood. Nevertheless, nothing really wrong with the car, just not a whole lot that's totally right either. As basic transportation, its perfect. Without an XRS badge on the back, its not the most exciting car.

Kind of a HUGE let down to get a Corolla after keeping up this thread for so long. I wouldn't settle for a Corolla at this point, especially not after passing up so many good cars in hopes of a better one coming along.

I don't know if she would let it go that cheap. I haven't talked with her yet, been researching it. Everything points to what you've all said.

I'm still pretty on the fence. It's just something that came up that could work out.

Every time I think about it though, I get back to this though: "Even for $1,000, there's 5.0s for 1800"

I need to find somewhere to work. Being unemployed is starting to dry up the funds D:

It's my mom's friend's now deceased husband's old truck. She really wants it gone. It's a nice driving, overall really good truck. Interior is flawless too save for the OD Off switch that's broken from it's mounts, still works It needs all new fluids, the AC is out of freon, a new thermostat, the gas gauge and tach don't work, but that's it. Because she really wants it gone, she'll let it go for $200 dollars. I'm gonna offer $250 as soon as my dad talks to the insurance company. I'm going to be insanely ticked off if he says it's too much to insure.

A pickup truck expensive to insure? It doesn't seem likely. For $200, that's a steal. If you can afford the gas, it sounds like a great deal.
