This race falls under the GTMSA GCR for Online Racing. All standard online rules apply including​

Handicap Calculations through Race 4

Congrats to Smallhorses for another dominant performance, with the overall win and the fastest lap.

MadMax took second for this week, while raz_10 rounded out the podium. 👍

For the series, Smallhorses is again the overall leader. homeforsummer and I are tied for second in points, but with his best finish of second place in week 3 and my best finish of 3rd in week 3, I've placed him ahead in the overall series standings.

Some tight racing all around, with half the races to go.

Handicaps are ready to go for the next race as well, good luck to all.

As the title would now suggest, your power adjustment handicap based on the series to date average is posted above. We will use this method for the balance of the series. 👍 I hope it works as planned.

The important thing to know is that for this week's race, you'll need to run with the power change listed above.

As far as explaining the formula/calculation method, it's fairly straightforward, but I don't have time to do it justice right now. I'll post a little later today with that information. 👍

OK - Here's a brief explanation. I'll be happy to post any follow ups with formulas and sheets included.

For each week, I calculate the average of all submitted times. This is a simple calc in excel. I then calc each racer's time as a percent of the average.

Finally, I calculate the average of that percentage for each racer for all of the races they have participated in. So, as an example, if a racer performed at average for one race, and 2% better than average for the next race, their handicap would be based on 99% of average, and they would get a 1% power reduction.

A racer who performs at the average level will get no power change. A racer who performs slower than average will get a power benefit. A racer who performs faster than average will receive a power reduction.

The idea is to even this out based on performance over time. Optimally, if we get consistent participation from most racers, they spend about the same amount of time on each race, and they know the tracks reasonably well, we'll end up with more parity in our results and fewer handicap adjustments as the series progresses.

As I said, I'd be happy to go into whatever detail anyone would like to explain the calculations.

Went by a semi-draft setup for this race and cauth a nice draft at the fastest lap
from the SILVIA after it understeered to the grass in turn 6/H .

I will give this a few more shots just to see if I can improve the overall time.

I'm taking a short vacation until Sunday afternoon, so my contact here will be limited. I managed a submittable run last night, but it's nothing special, and I forgot to write down the lineup and splits. I plan to try again at the last minute when I get back.

Got my first run in last night, I really like this combo!!!! 👍
I tried +8 but was paired up with a Soltice, long story short by lap 5 he was ahead +24sec.
I finished in 3rd place.
then I switched to +7 going in all strong from my first run, thinking I would make it more interesting, I came in in 5th place behind an Elise + 40secs an 80's Camaro(3rd) S2000(4th) ended up with +7sec on final time

Had a chance to run this tonight. Started off against +7 AI, the switched to 2 different +8 lineups and ran them for a while, shaving a total of 3s off my time. Went back to +7 and came up with a great lineup, and shaved another 4s!

*EDIT* I'm actually disqualifying that time on the grounds that on closer investigation it may be dirty.
There appears to be a visible line alongside the track & kerbs in some views, but not in others. It's visible in the 2 views from the front of the car here, but disappears when you look from behind, and thus this lap appears dirty!

As I've said, I'm not risking being officially disqualified for submitting this race, sooooo.....

.....I have just run against a +10 AI lineup, finishing 3rd by 22.155s from a Lotus Elise Sport 190 '98, but just over a second quicker than my +7 run above.

Finally got around to doing my race! Submitted my time 4:11pm GMT

I tried it (a couple of times) on difficulty of 7, and it was a complete nuisance. The other cars were too slow around corners but too quick on the straights, meaning I could sail by them on the brakes but on the next straight they'd fly past, often with a bump for good measure, or shoving me off the circuit, which happened a few times.

Instead, on my third attempt, I set difficulty to ten, and was up against a grid of three Imprezas (a grey WRX 2dr, white WRX wagon and a blue mica WRX of the bug-eyed shape), a CL500, and a 3000GT. Naturally, they took off at the start, but with their understeery nature and much fighting amongst themselves, I soon caught up. My fastest lap came lap 3, because it was the only lap I didn't have to brake to avoid hitting them as they slid across the circuit, or rejoined at walking pace after a trip into the gravel. The majority of my laps were a good two seconds slower than my fastest. The shot below is a good indication of what they were doing into every corner:

The highest position I managed was 3rd, again after they'd been fighting and gone off the road... but soon found myself with them right on my tail! All of them passed in the following short downhill section, and I backed off to avoid collecting them...

Finished fifth in the end, within two seconds-ish of the entire first four. The 3000GT came last by a long distance, as he pitted on lap 8 of 9! The race felt like it ended pretty quickly though, I'm not keen on Apricot hill and usually get bored, but it's quite a quick race (even with 2% less power!).

One important thing I found is that momentum is how you get around here. Really, the only time you need the brakes are for turn 2, Turn 7, and going through Turn 10.

I'm guessing you'll want to be seeing a replay then? I'll get it up later in the week as I'm having another run at the Fuji 1000km race at the moment to give the Gillet Vertigo Race Car '04 a bit of a shakedown.

The power is more useful when going uphill.
And the Apricot Hill track is mostly downhill when driven normal direction.
It's alot of downhill and then steep climb to start/finish-line.

I did my fastest lap on lap 7 , by then the fueltank had alredy started to
get lighter and gave me possibility to accelerate even faster while tyres had still enought grip.

My average lap was very close to 1'41.000 without counting the 1st lap.
with 1st lap the average was 1'42.333 (lap1 1'53.877)

I imagine that you were able to gain that 0,821/lap with the 1%
but most likely it was the skills.

I think EDK is interested to see how you performed.

Thanks MadMax86, I think my fastlap was lap 7 too, although it might've been lap 6. My laps were mostly mid-to-low 1'40s with 3 or 4 in the 1'39s. I also had a great 1st lap coming in at 1'51.9xx.

I'm sure there's PAL user here who'd be happy to view your replay, I'd suggest PM-ing sjaak68, Sphinx or DustDriver. (Although they're all busy stewarding the WRS events for GT4 & GT5!)
