Lets hear it, or read it, whatever.

Keep in mind this is a work in progress. ..

Super Tuner Car PPR Series

The Super Tuner Car Championship series was created as a means for like minded racers to enjoy some fun and competitive racing with a wide variety of cars that would take advantage of everything Gran Turismo 5 has to offer.

GT5 is a great game. It provides stunning HD graphics with a great racing feel and hundreds of awesome cars to abuse on highly detailed virtual tracks from around the world.

But GT5 is far from perfect and all cars are not created equal. Any online race organizer has struggled with balancing different cars in an effort to create close racing action. I know I have. More and more it seems that each car must be set at vastly different regulations or making events “one make” races to ensure balanced and close racing action.

I crave variety in my race series and I enjoy seeing different manufacturers battle it out. I enjoy seeing die hard fans pit their favorites against their rivals. I love watching the replays and viewing the race pics of different cars waging war on the track.

So for this season of STC, I am proposing something different. I’m asking all of my longtime racers to bear with me and hang on as I propose something completely different from what we have done in the past.

This season I am not guaranteeing balanced race cars. We will not be running any “One Make” events. This is the year of...

The Performance Point Restrictor Series!

Winning and losing will now have a direct effect on the performance of your vehicle going forwards now. Win and earn championship points but with a caveat. High place finishes come with a cumalative performance point penalty. On the flip side, very low place finishers, while not scoring many championship points, will be awarded a cumalative performance point bonus!

I know most of you enjoy a fair and impartial race but I beg you guys to give this a try for ONE season. I know you will be skeptical but all I ask is to give it a shot. At the best we get close racing with multiple different winners each week and at the worst we still get a nice variety of cars battling it out. In the end our group still gets together each week and has some fun.

So what do you say? Are you up to the challenge of the first ever Super Tuner Car PPR series?

Now, after dropping that bombshell, for those of you who are still on board, here are the actual race series details and one more bombshell:

Interesting concept. Will participation numbers allow it to work?

We head to Laguna Seca for the final week of the MX5 Cup. I'd like to thank everyone for participating in the event. Sorry that it ran longer than I had expected. Hope everyone enjoyed it.

Here are the standings as of now.

I plan on being there and this series was great. Wished I could have participated more.

As for participation, I was hoping for 12 total racers, 6 for each class buuuuut that might not be realistic. And sorry for hijacking the thread with super long post. I had some free time...

Ill be making my own thread soon btw if interest is there

Can I take that back? My legs fell asleep reading that on the toilet. I like. This is what us chronic last place finishers need. It may need some tweaking, but I think we should give it a try.

Im glad im not the only that lets his legs fall asleep while on the throne. Awkard to explain why ur limping out of the bathroom though

DJ run that series boy! It sounds like a brand new winning formula that all other leagues might adopt, I would like to see 2 class but whatever I think it will be fantastic!

I'm giving it a 👍 👍 :sly:

WTH is up with the flames shooting out of the tailpipes?

who cares, I think it is impressive that the beta version is stable enough to run a 3 Class championship with over 40 cars on track!!:dunce:

I will be totally sold if the final game can do this on the PS3!!:sly:

The sounds and exhaust backfire have not been worked on in a while, they will be re done before release.

PS3 / 360 / PS4 and GloriousmasterracePC release sometime in 2014. (don't expect to see 40+ cars racing on ps3)

Some non performance mods this week for the Audi........

I have a hard time seeing the PS3 handling 40+ cars. Maybe the PS4.

DJ. I think your ideas sound great. I've always thought it would be great fun to try a handicap league. Two classes are always fun, but demand a good consistent turnout. I understand you're still working out the details. Now if only the " fast guys" will give it a go. JT's allin. Very cool. There just might be crazy racing all over the track!

thlogan ( very veteran racer, raced in every series, never won squat )

DJ, I think the concept is good. Just a few questions.

1, are the PP penalty/rewards cumulative?
2. are the cars close performance wise?

Also it's going to be a chore getting each driver on track with the different PP ratings. So we'll have to iron all that out prior to race day

We should do some testing of all the cars before starting the season. And if possible can we run on Thursdays. If not I'll be missing a few races and someone else will have to run the room.

1. The penalties/rewards are cumulative but I have run into an issue with that during testing. Some of the cars on the list can easily add/drop the PP but not all of the cars can.

2. Short answer: No.

I'm going to do some testing in the afternoons this week to get an average of lap times at the starting PPs and weed out the ones that aren't cutting it.
The cars listed above are not set in stone and hopefully we can get a competitive list.

I'll be posting a link here tonight with the new thread so i can stop hijacking Red Robin's thread LOL.

EDIT: One more thing, we can move it to Thursdays. I say we vote on it. I don't have any issues with racing on Thursday.

The cars have to be even in performance when you start for your series to work.

Also DTM from today is up on Speed2.com

Coolest mom ever! ! !

And if i block my mom in the driveway she'll call me/wake me up to move it. :grumpy:

DJ, I think your series looks interesting, but as BK stated you have to make sure the cars are even at the start. In any mixed car series we've had the comments about "your car is faster. That's a better car. You have more downforce." etc... If the playing field is not equal to start the attendance of the series will likely suffer.

Honestly it's getting harder for me to race on Wednesdays, so I vote for Thursday.

Attendance is key to a mixed series. And lately we've had 8/9 racers. Also with the penalty/bonus, is that based on overall finish or for class? If you see what I'm getting at, say, 5 in one class and 4 in another for a race, the system won't work. Maybe better off running one class or two classes and no penalty/bonus. Let us know if you want help testing cars. We could start next week and iron out the kinks

I vote for a small break after the MX-5 Cup until dj irons out the field. I could use a few weeks off.
