When it comes to the AI in general I'm extremely frustrated. Especially with whatever kind of tweeks and twitches they preformed on them.

Remember when GT5 first came out and the AI used to just charge you and were aggressive drivers? Well i miss that now.. The current AI are way too assertive..

I'll proceed to take a corner behind an AI.. I'll get behind him and he'll let off the gas and I'll ram him in the bumper. Who in racing lets off the gas when they have the racing line and were at least 5 feet ahead of my front bumper?

It happens even on straights like La Sarthe has. I'll preform a high speed over take and the AI will just fall back and I'll be miles ahead within a second. Why? whats the point in that?

I thought this game was going for realism? Those performances aren't..

Also, another rant I have about arcade mode is that when I choose a car, regardless of the difficulty level, the game will put me up against cars my car could never keep up with. OR doesn't really race in real life.

Lets say I pick the RX-8 Concept LM Race Car. I'll choose Circuit de la sarthe and the game will put me against SUPER GT cars. If i wanted to race japanese touring cars I would have choosing a japanese touring car! I choose my RACE CAR because I'd like to race other RACE CARS.

Arcade mode needs the ability to choose your opponent AI AND the AI needs to be fixed. I feel like PD just threw everything they had onto three menus and was like HERE! Arcade mode. Its not well thought out or balanced at all. It's my biggest disappointment in this game. I used to love arcade mode for the other GTs..

People will say "Go play online then" or " Just play A-spec"
1. People online don't race clean, its as smooth as playing AI
2. A-spec doesn't offer nearly as much variety as arcade mode COULD
3. Arcade would be good for pictures if the right cars were lined up on the track.

All in all, It needs to be redone completely. This is my rant. Feedback would be appreciated.

Seriously, online is better. Not every server has dirt drivers roaming freely.

It's boring once you realize your beating cars that will never notice or care about how good you are. Even if they had automated compliments, it would still be empty.

Online is where you show what you got.

Well as for the AI being easier to beat....I could care less cause once you get your hands on the X2010 it's all beat....well 95% at least lol but I believe A-spec gets you used to racing from a beginners standpoint & is just a steppingstone to online competition.

Problem

regardless of the difficulty level, the game will put me up against cars my car could never keep up with.
PD's solution.

I say, go online. It makes everything better.

1. People online don't race clean, its as smooth as playing AI
2. A-spec doesn't offer nearly as much variety as arcade mode COULD
3. Arcade would be good for pictures if the right cars were lined up on the track.

1 is about .00000001% of online drivers. The vast majority would pound the AI into dust, and do it clean too. You're not driving with the right people if you think online is bumper cars.

Also put a thing for a completely open GT mode in the feedback section so hopefully PD finds out that players would like to make their own game out of GT.

I could somewhat relate to this, It certainly doesnt bug me as much as it seems to bug you though because I often play split screen, but I do get what you're getting at. AI in GT5 is pretty whimpy.. I'd much rather have the AI of FM3 where they actually give you heat and sweaty palms

I also think Super GT cars are Race Cars.. but w/e

try doing the Roadster 4 hours endurance race in B-spec.....sit and watch them putting damage on their cars and to others....

I was so surprised when I saw my car with many damage, and also theirs, when I came back the house when the endurance race ended....

really PD? that's how true to life drivers do their race?....

My reason for wanting all this in arcade mode is because it takes too much time to get everyone to co-operate and set up a race.

If this was in arcade mode i could set up races MY way. Also, when PSN has its hickups like currently it would be nice to be able to have competitive racing..

@Evolved.. Super GT cars are Touring cars and don't race on tracks like La Sarthe in real life. I may sound picky here.. but this game advertises realism. I like to be able to have the choice to make races as realistic as possible.

You shouldn't be limited to online to get a good race. An individual bought the game an individual should be able to plug it in and have a good race in career mode.

Totally agree about the AI. Question was asked what's the one thing you'd change about GT5 to make it better; AI!

What boggles my mind is that OTHER racing games have great AI! Grid for example. The very first race is a hot and heavy battle to the finish. That's where the FUN lies in racing.

I have to tune down my cars up to 100 HP just to have a "SEMI-competitive" race.

I'm with ya! The AI is awful. I did the Grand Valley endurance race last night. I purposely chose a car that had less HP then the rest of the cars in the field because I wanted a challenge. That challenge lasted all of the first 3 laps. Most of the AI didn't fight for position. They just let me cruise by. I wish there was an aggression setting for the AI.

As for going online, I agree with everyone 100%. I just recently started racing online. It changed the game for me in so many ways. Everyone racing online isn't dirty either. You just have to do a few races in some open lobby rooms that say "clean" or "clean racers" etc... Find some folks that race clean and become PSN friends with them.

Once you have a nice little network of people you like racing against, it's easy to host your own private room with just those people you invite. Then you'll realize how much cooler online racing is compared to A-Spec. Try it. You'll love it!

.....well..... You'll have to wait till PSN gets turned back on. Who knows when that'll be???

Well as for the AI being easier to beat....I could not care less cause once you get your hands on the X2010 it's all beat....

The grammar nazi strikes again!

I feel the AI could do with improving but I make do by using the weight ballast and power limiter to make things more interesting

I agree that arcade is not what it was in GT4 in regards to opponent match up. It was much better to have a 1 - 10 scale rather than easy, medium and hard.

I'll proceed to take a corner behind an AI.. I'll get behind him and he'll let off the gas and I'll ram him in the bumper. Who in racing lets off the gas when they have the racing line and were at least 5 feet ahead of my front bumper?

I thought this game was going for realism? Those performances aren't.

I've noticed, when using the Formula GT on some of the races just to get their long, tediousness out of the way (namely looking at endurance races), and you're rapidly approached lapped traffic, once you get within a certain distance behind them they deliberately swerve in the hopes of blocking you. Their swerve isn't an intelligent one, as it's always random as to which side they swerve to, but sometimes they happen to swerve to the side you were going to pass on and consequently you ram their rear end hard since the speed difference was too great to have sufficient time to react.

What's the point? It's one thing to swerve to block for position, but when they're lapped traffic they're just being jerks. Even worse, they do this when they're five or ten laps down. Who does this? In real motorsports they'd be waved a blue flag, but even without a blue flag, what driver would weave all over the track to block a car that isn't even overtaking them for position?

Also, another rant I have about arcade mode is that when I choose a car, regardless of the difficulty level, the game will put me up against cars my car could never keep up with. OR doesn't really race in real life.

I've never observed this. Granted, I haven't done a whole lot of races in arcade mode, but I've done a handful here and there to test tracks I made in Course Maker, and I've always been pitted against cars close to my own performance. I've never been in a high-end Viper and found myself racing against Fiat 500s and I've never hopped in a Mustang and had LMP cars thrown at me.

Well as for the AI being easier to beat....I could not care less cause once you get your hands on the X2010 it's all beat....

Blarg! You beat me to it.
