I SAID I WOULD DO IT, AND SHALL CONTINUE UNLESS I HEAR THEY ARE SHOWING THE FULL LE MANS ENDURANCE RACE, I AM NO LONGER WATCHING SPEED CHANNEL. NOT THEIR F1, RALLY OR TOURING CAR COVERAGE, I AM BOYCOTTING THEIR ASSES. SCREW THEIR NASCAR AFFILIATION. MAYBE OTHERS WILL GET LESS THAN 14 HOURS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T BE ANGRY, AND I OBVIOUSLY AM. GOOD BYE SPEED CHANNEL!

Well, I sent an E-mail to Speed channel, pretty much saying the bad stuff about their channel, like too much nascar coverage, a lot of paid ads, and all that crap...haven't had a responce...I suggest E-mailing them about their problems...and of course post any responces you get here...

Meh, I don't have cable (I can't even get cable in my area)...

If you just boycott by not watching, they won't do anything. Only thing I can think of is:

a) Bombard them with email (I'm talking hundreds upon hundreds of email messages, not just a couple... enlist some friends to help, get everyone on GTPlanet to follow a template, etc.)
b) Bribe them :smilewink

It's better then no Le Mans coverage at all, is it not?

When it was Speedvision they aired it fully for 2 or 3 years, now they are owned by FOX and/or NASCAR. Granted that it may not be a money maker, and that doing those CART races costs money, but I seriously doubt either FOX or NASCAR is hard up for money. They also gave the impression that the channel would not be too different, it's changed a lot. It is a matter of the last straw, the one that broke the camel's back. Le Mans is a very important race, and putting it into 3 segments totaling 14 hours is an insult to endurance racing fans.

They aren't owned by Nascar...Just write them an E-mail or a letter....or go to their headquarters with a gun...ummm, no, don't do that last one...well go ahead if they don't respond...

If laughing at my complaint, probably because you find it silly, makes you feel good, fine, but it speaks volumes about you. Those of you that have not thought this through please consider that unless you have experienced it, those of you who do not live in America or know it well, do not know how little we get in the way of coverage of the races in Europe, Aisia, et al, anyone that doesn't have a channel like Speed Channel and no net access is screwed, and I doubt ESPN is a big help. And those that live here but have never seen Speedvision do not understand as well my gripe as those that have seen Speedvision. If I am being over the top with this thread, than I am doing so, but my complaint is fully justified.

and my computer is not stable enough to listen to radio lemans for 24 hours, unless someone knows how to record real player streams

does autosport archive the race in that audio section?

Not to be rude or anything Talentless, but there actually are people with real problems out there. I don't have Speedvision or any station as such, all I have is eurosport and their motorsport coverage is only, what? 10%? Of their entire broadcast, and you don't hear me complaining do you?

I apoligize for the way I responded to F2002.

ruf, explain to me the logic of why I should not be complacent because you choose not to express any complaint over your situation?

Because my situation is much "worse" and I'm sure I love motorsports just as much as you do. And when I hear you guys have got a motorsports-only channel and still you complain I find that annoying.

But nevermind. I'm not here to start a fight...

and motorsports is general, i'm talking about specific types. can noone understand how aggravating it is to have something than lose it? that's the point, they kept talking about it being the same great coverage. well check speed tv .com, in one week you can find at least 50 airings of nacar programs or nacar related programs. speed news starts off with 5 minutes of other news, than ten minutes of nascar coverage, not in one session, but ten minutes here, 8 minutes later, 2 minutes there, 12 minutes later, more nascar.

I'm afraid I'm too much into the right of expression philosophy to agree. Now if I were to ask you to shut up, than I think you'd be right to point out the difference and coverage to justify your opinion.

Okay, I understand that. And I think you have the right to practice free speech. So excuse my comments...

if your coverage is bad, i feel for you. my understanding is that channel 4 in britain shows tape delayed hour long episodes of the bgt, i guess on the weekends, saturday i think. oh, and what you think is good may not be. many of our races are american focused, as you would expect, so unless somethjing like world superbike gets no coverage in belgium, yer mostly missing trans am races and cart, and maybe not since i doubt speed channel has that much power over international broadcasts. footage of cart may come from speed sometimes. last time i saw some f1 on speed, the satelite sp? glitched and a screen came up saying itv, yep, the british channel.

I have watched CART and Nascar---> "Crank it up"??!!

Is there a channel on the cable I get (basic cable plus Showtime) that does show the full LeMans race? I always tape the cut-version that Fox Sports Rocky Mountain shows, but it's not the same...

I understand the plight of those of us that have been watching Speed Channel to see our favorite type of racing. When it was called SpeedVision there was virtually no NASCAR coverage at all. It was mostly F1, CART, WRC and racing we can very much associate with playing GT. The part that angers some of us is that when the switch was made to Speed Channel it was announced that it would be a NASCAR-centric network. You can see NASCAR coverage on virtually any channel over here and to see it become the major crux of of the one channel that covers the other forms of racing we enjoy watching was rather disheartening. I don't get Speed Channel where I live now so I cant even watch it at all, but I have watched it in the past and even I was dissapointed to hear that it was becoming NASCAR centered.

But all might not be lost for us that enjoy that network. In the June issue of Sport Compact Car there is a column entitled Slip Angle written by Josh Jacquot. He was having similar frustrations with the channel change and had voiced his opinion about it in an earlier issue. He began getting e-mails from enraged NASCAR fans before the issue even hit the newsstands. However, most who wrote in agreed and were equally pissed, feeling betrayed by the only network that followed the racing they love. In his many e-mails received one was from Jim Liberatore, the president of Speed Channel. Liberatore explained that the other series aren't gone after all. In fact, there's more coverage. This racing season Speed Channel will cover CART, 13 live races plus all practice and qualifing sessions; the WRC, all 16 events with almost five times more coverage than before; every Formula One practice and qualifiying sessions plus 13 F1 races, and several live-coverage broadcasts of Grand Am, American Le Mans and World Challenge events. The SCCA ProRally series will be covered in its entirety. Liberatore admits that the whole story wasn't told when Speed Channel was announced. He continues to say that some programs on the channel will be eliminated such as aviation and marine coverage as well as "The Lost Drive-in" to make all this programming possible. This time everyone should be happy. Speed Channel gets its NASCAR dollars and trhe rest of us don't lose our racing coverage. We might have to search a little harder to find it, but it'll be there. Leberatore promisis you that.

I hope this might shed some light on the situation, as far as complete coverage of Le Mans, I dont know, just be happy that there is coverage period.

The only reason why Speed Channel shows so much NASCAR stuff is becuz it is owned by Fox Sports Net, a massive NASCAR tv station.

They are doing that now. The point is the abundance of NASCAR programming and the question of whether they are living up to their promise. How about recording the race and showing it in 8 3 hour parts? Not seeing it live is ok, I was want to see it all. When a larger corporation takes over with assurances I expect them to live upto them. I never cared much about lost drive or the marine stuff, but even the programs they keep they don't do as well.
