Well, it looks like Candy, my oldest cat, will pass away soon. She's been sick for a while, and all of her numbers are really high. She's drooling and has alcers in her mouth. Her kindneys are barely there. The vet says that she normally would have passed away already.

He suggests putting her to sleep, because she is in pain. And she's only 12  . I guess she always had a problem, I never thought it would come to this.

So...bye Candy, you've been a great cat. We will miss you!

Aww, that's a shame man.

You have my sympathies.

Even though I hate cats, I understand your pain.

My mom is taking it the hardest. I try to refrain from getting really upset....it makes me feel worse. :(

I know what your going through. My 2 previous cats had to be put to sleep. One had feline luikemia, and we put her to sleep at the age of 6 or so. the other one, was just really old, and she wouldnt have made the trip that we were taking when moving. she was 19 years old.

Although we said we'd prolly never have cat's again, we ended up with too more cats. That helps, cause it distracted me from thinking about my other cats.

We have cats - they're both only young but you know one day it's going to happen. Heart goes out to you, man.

I'm sure we will get another cat, it's sorta like once you have a cat, you always have to have a cat, and then you get another one, and you always have to have 2. It happened with our first dog, she died at age 15, and we got another dog, and then another one. It took 2 dogs to take the place of the dog we had. She was more human than dog, she knew colors, she knew when someone was coming home, she was smarted than most 5 yr old kids.

Candy was nice most of the time, but could get mad. She was so strong, she used to hit this hanging mouse thing and just keep punching it. Lately she wanted to get on my bed, she couldn't on her own cause I have a bunk type bed, but I put her up there and she just started sleeping. I had to carry her down, her legs wouldn't be able to handle the jump.

I think she knew it was her time, she was nice to everyone lately, and she hates me.

Well my dad is taking care of the final thing....I can't take going to see a pet die.

I've never had a cat, but I know how much it can affect you - pets become just as much of the family as people do! Just remember, Candy is feeling a lot better now, and is not suffering any more! :)

Oh man...I'm so sorry to hear that. My old kitty died a little over a year ago. It broke my heart to see him go (I'd had him since day 1 - literally!). He was just under 17 - pretty old for a cat!

Please believe me as someone who has done this before - as hard as it is to let her go - it will feel better when you know she's not suffering anymore. Having Bear (my cat) put to sleep is the hardest thing I've ever done. But it was almost as much a relief for me as it was for him afterwards.

Again, you have my most heartfelt condolences. Just know Candy will be OK...Ol' Mr. Bear will keep her company in the next life, I'm sure. :)

yea, I'm trying to get over it now. It doesn't seem so bad after you think about what would have happened if she wasn't put to sleep, she would be in pain and it was becoming a sanitary issue too. She had to have injections everyday at home, and it would have been really bad if my mom or dad(they did the injections) got stuck with a needle, or if Candy moved it would be bad.

Well, we are having a small funeral in the cemetary on saturday. That will be a hard day too. :(

Sorry MazKid, I know exactly what you're going through...

You'll recover, man. I've been through 2 dogs and several cats in my time, and I just accept the "end" as a part of the cycle. It just happens to be the suckiest part

But the love, affection, and companionship you get from them far outweighs the price you have to pay later on...that's one of the best things about it, is that they don't care one iota what you look like, how much money you make, or who your friends are...

Hang in there!

Macka

PS My cat's 11 now, still in good shape, but sooner or later it'll be my turn too

Sorry to hear that MazKid  I have two dogs myself, they're both 2 yrs old, quite young I suppose, they're my best friends!
Well, I hope you get over it soon...

I'm doing better today. I IMed a freind from school(the guy with the new altima)and I told him. He acted like a real moron, he asked if I cried and I said a little. He said that he wouldn't(basicly saying I'm weak or something), but he currently has no pets. I think he's just trying to act big or something.

I'm doing better though, I just can't think about it a lot. The snow we had helped a lot. Me and my brother were going to school today, and we went down our hill(we're on a corner, the main road we're off of is flat, and the other road goes down, and then turns at the bottom and goes back up)and at the bottom my brother was going to do his "GT" drift around the corner, via the parking brake. It failed, and we almost crashed. I was laughing so hard. That kinda broke the tension.

I'm getting it behind me now, thanks guys. :)

Sorry to hear that mate - it's difficult, and sadly time is the only healer. As Jordan said, she's no longer in pain.

Your friend just has a little trouble dealing with strong emotion, that's all. He's young - he'll learn.

In the meantime, you have the whole of GTPlanet's support. :)

My sympathies to you, it's rough to lose a cat. Especially one you've bonded to. When my 18 yr old cat died, I buried him in the back yard and cried a lot. I put a sleeping cat statue over him. I still miss him though, during the last 10 years he slept next to me on the bed almost every night.

When Bear died, I had him cremated. We moved around so much, I couldn't see burying him in just any backyard. So now I have a little urn that I keep on the shelf. Next to it is a small ceramic disc with a paw print and Bear's name etched in it. A very nice memorial, I think.

Okay I know this post might be a little old but here I am all choked up at my desk at work. I feel for ya MazKid (even though you're probably over it by now). I just can't imagine the day I have to take any of my animals for their "last ride in the car." I have to just block it out because I know there'll be plenty of time for tears when it happens. And by that time I'm gonna have a kid to explain it to.

I can honestly say that I hate very cat in the world, in fact I hate all pets. The only thing that makes me sad is when I see a person really upset over there death. I know some people can get real attached to an animal and when they lose one it is like losing a close pal, I dont think Ill ever understand that, but I will respect it. I know your hurting and I guess I'd just like to offer you my condolences.

Maz: we had to do the same thing last year, with our first cat we got in 1986 when we moved in together. She was 'on the clock' because of kidney failure; but cancer got her first. It was sad to watch her be put down, but good to know she was at peace.

Bear up; wait 6 months out of respect, then adopt a cat from your local shelter and give it a good life too.

You've got my deepest sympathy. Not only did we lose the older cat, but we got a pair of kitten sisters to replace her. They were the nicest cats I've ever owned; but unfortunately one of them was hit by a car about 4 months ago. Her sister is still looking for her every time we come into the house.

It's rough. I've got a cat who's 20 years old this year. I'm just dreading the day when she doesn't come up to wake me up in the morning.

:(
