My experience with *Sport*(HARD) tires.

Well after reading the forums and getting into GT4 drifting, i initially started out with the N1 or N2 tires. After a few weeks of getting the hang of drifting, throttle control, counter-steer entry etc. i was doing well but couldn't drift at the speeds i wanted. I could complete long corners and connect drifts but it was hard to speed up, or take turns quicker with the slippery tires.

-So off to **SPORT** Hard tires i went. I put them on the D1 cars (4dr blitz skyline, and the s15 HKS silvia) With stock power levels and everything else modded, i am now able to power through turns much quicker, and control the momenum a lot easier. Still no pro yet but using the technique of the n1-n2 tires and applying it with more force to the *SPORT* HArd, i am having a lot more fun. You have to becarefull ending a drift cuz the snap-oversteer if more severe due to the extra grip, but if u do it properly, u can propel the car quicker than before.

-If you are a beginner i suggest stick to the n1-n2 tires, but if u know wut ur doing, give it a try. I love it. 👍 :)

[edit]-i Meant SPORT Hard, not racing hard. Must be the Nyquill, and Dayquill messin with my thoughts.

I only use n tires if the car really cant make fairly long turns. Other then that I use sports. I have racing on one of my cars which is RR and I use it for race driting, but other than that they dont give a very realistic feeling and snap too much.

I actually started out using racing hard tyres with the bp falken rx7 and i could drift it quite good, it took me ages to set up though! i used the racing tires for every drift car i had.

I find you can drift way faster with R tires but it's dam near impossible (at least for me) to get the angle you can get on Ns.

I only use Rs on cars with lots of power, like 600+.
I find if i max the nitrous and hit it when I exit drifts the car gets loose so It doesn't snap out of the drift and I can get it straighened out much smoother. It also produces alot of smoke.

I actually tried to drift a Supra last night with R tires because Pink_The_Floyd said he had a Supra like that...Man, it was interesting :D

The D1 Cars come with Racing Tires. And you can drift with them as is when you buy it. But Other cars differ. Cars with more hp like the Supra tend to burn out through drifts with its 800hp range.

Heres my thought on tires. If it feels like your burning out through a drift and out of drifts change the tires to a more gripy tire. If not stick with N1's 2's or 3's.So I would say 500-1000hp use Racing or sport tires..

And Like ekmatt9 said the Supra with 800hp and Racing Tires or Sport tires is very crazy. Try it out and you'll see how much tires can change if you try N's with a Supra with 800hp.. HEHEHEHEH ITS JUST like WOW!!~! lol (yeah Im BOred.. Leave me alone)
P.s. Some times i dont make sense... Sry In Advance if this doesn't

Burning out through a drift is smokier though.

Have you ever seen the vids of the yellow Jun Supra drifting? It's seriously completely solid white behind the car and it's going really fast.

LOL who hasn't lol!!! Yeah it is smokier but you loose alot of grip... FOr me anyway.. feels like im just slowing down to much and it wont get the angle i like

I have some kind of supra twin turbo and I use soft sports. It's extremly awesome cause you can get through the smaller technical turns in trial mountain, or go through real long ones by stepping on it, and at the same time its easy to stay on the track, where with n tires I find they are wayyy to slippery. I can get huge angle with high speed too.

I taught myself to drift around 300BHP but these are some sick ideas man.

I saw the Jun Supra vid too I watch it every week;) It's so cool but anyway, I still didn't try it:(

I started out using "sport medium" tires when I first started drifting in GT4. This was with automatic transmission though. Now that I have switched to manual trans I have also switched to N3 tires on most of my cars. Some still have sport medium.

I tried the Sport Hard tires today on my SS AE86, and man, my drift speeds are way up from when I used N2s. Its harder to get my usual angle though, and I have to get ued to going full throttle when I'm going for those long corners, like the one at Trial Mountain.
