My First attempt at cell shading

I figured I would try cell shading. I couldn't really find the vector tool... I just ended up using the magic wand and filling the areas with that color. It's pretty crappy, but its only my first one.

You're supposed to use the lasso tool instead of the magiic wand.
 
Is there a difference? I'm still kinda new to photoshop.

It's really not that bad. :)

Maybe if you blurred those rough edges a little, and got rid of the background, replacing it with something normal, it might look ok.

Yes. Using the lasso you can select the area you want to fill and get cleaner lines.
 
Eck! The lines! I hate the "line tool" way of cel-shading. Unless it's done right with very small lines, it looks bad. :irked:

Indeed. It also takes longer.
 
This is what I would consider a decent cel-shaded car with the lines. That still doesn't mean I like it, though...
