Hey guys, I havent been active in a while as i been busy for the past month driving my car ..

1.6 16v Ford Focus Ghia ( Old shape )

I have chaned the Rear Brake lights, 3rd Brake light, Parking sensors and the stereo.. i was wondering if there are any other mods you guys would recomend. I'm not a boy racer and im not too intrested in body kits.. a new exhaust would be nice tho.

You're not a boy racer but you want to put a new exhaust on it? :odd:

Nice car though, what's the insurance setting you back though? If you dont mine me asking.

Well the noise the car outputs is not excatly the best in the world.. i think its just needs something a bit meaner

.. Also its costing me an Arm and a leg for insurance £1800 Fully comp

Thats parked on a public road in a not so good area on london ( Chingford .. near walthamstow, hackney ) im 22 years old and its a first car. It is expensive but as soon as i take it on the back roads ( B roads ) and open it up i forget all that and drive around with the biggest smile on my face :)

It's a 1.6 focus, making it sound meaner just makes you look more like a dick, sorry.

I though so. I was looking at Focus' myself but when I started getting the quotes I gave up. Though my 1.4 Almera is only abit cheaper at £1450.

And slowly watch the fuel gauge move downwards and the weep a little inside. I know exactly the feeling :(

What mods should you make? Well my good man, you should shorten the wheelbase and take off those 2 extra doors.💡

Wow, you guys get destroyed for insurance.

I hope it was a yearly quote, not a 6 month quote :scared:

Thru conversions, I think I would pay as much in a year as you do in 6 months if that's true...

If you want to change bits then starting off with the Ghia wasn't the best idea. The Zetec is the more "sporty" model without the fake grey wood etc.

Nice car, but I prefer the standard tail lights.

Honestly i wouldn't do much to that car. It's hella practical and should run pretty economically on petrol, i'm guessing. If you wanna do anything, get it a nice clean air filter and some plastic polish to clear up those foglamps a bit.

Other than that just make it a fun car by toting friends around town and maybe starting a scandalous story or two inside of it with a willing sexual parter. :D:tup:

cost me £1600 my first year with a 1.4, and that was only for 10 months 3rd party lol
expect it to go down a lot after the first year though!
imo jus save your money until you get a decent car to sort out :D

Wheels would "complete the look" if you ask me, something five-spoke ish. I'm impartial to the SVT Focus-style wheel:

Although, I'm not sure if they'd be hard to get a hold of in Europe or not...

A spring kit would probably be good too. Lower it just a hair, but not too much. You don't want the ride going to total crap.

===

Other than that, its a great looking car. I'm often very disappointed that our Focus 2.0 went without this style change.

back to the stock lights.
I'm assuming you don't have enough money for black paint and smoked taillights.
Maybe a different grille, debadging
New exhaust, but a small one
Lower it.
New rims.. I like those SVT ones. But personally, if I coulnd't get the SVT wheels I'd get steelies .. awesome on anything xD.

THAT'S your FIRST CAR?!?

When I was your age, I was driving a piece of crap Plymouth Voyager.

((Aw, great. I sound like a grumpy old man.))

By the way, with the weak dollar, SVT Focus wheels might actually turn out to be a steal for you...

hmm i am liking those Rims. Any ideas on where to get them ? Or should i just Ebay them ?

Postage!?!?!!?

Surely, you're not planning to modify anything that the insurance needs notifying of (e.g rims) with insurance as much as it is.

You can order them direct from Ford Racing here in North America, but I'm not sure if they'll ship to Europe or not. My guess is that is a "yes," but I have no idea what the cost would be. In USD, they're about $150 each (which isn't too bad if you ask me), but they aren't exactly small/light. But I imagine DHL or UPS would be happy to pick them up...

EDIT: Shipping won't be cheap. I'd expect somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000 USD to get them there fairly quickly... My guess is that you could find it for much, much less.

Look into it!

Seriously? You have tell the insurance about rims?

pretty much any change, if your in a smash and they find something you didnt tell them about, they will refuse to pay up. and so they can squeeze more money out

I agree, the tailights kinda whisper "boy-racer" to be honest. As far as exhaust, find a nice aftermarket cat-back kit, preferably with a tip that fills up the bumper opening, but no bigger.

Oooh!

Drill rivets into the wheel arches :D. Then lower it on some Work wheels :D

Awesome!!

Also, it could use a lip spoiler. (Or does it already haveone? I'm using quick reply on the 2nd page)

Yep, and it's usually about £30 onto your premium. But when you think about it, the rims are what keep your tyres on, which give you control.

Af far as I know, anything regarding engine, drive train, suspension and wheels must be declared. Body work as far as I know doesn't.

I think you only have to tell them about Performace parts ..

Lol you guys really dislike the brake lights that much ? I like em and they stand out alot more when there on so people can see more clearly..

They don't suit the paint scheme. On a black car the "lexus style" lights look okay because they contrast with the paint. On a silvery car they look like bling, i.e. nasty.
