Okay, this is my first thread, so bear with me.

I've recently started GT3 over. I had sim mode complete, 79.5% overall. I honestly didn't give a crap about arcade mode. :D But now, in my second game, I'm closing in on 100%. 96.5% right now.

Anyway, I was having trouble with that damn Viper on the Laguna Seca 200. He beat me 5 freakin' times! That's 10 hours of taking second. I was trying to beat him with a completely stock Camaro Race Car. It's too easy with an upgrade. But I finally got the setup right.

In the race, I was pitting once every 7 laps. He pitted every 8. That gave him an advantage right from the start in that he would pit 1 time less than me. So, basically he had a 20 second head start. By lap 52, I had completely erased the deficit. I was finally going to beat him!

Then, on lap 59, the big crybaby stopped racing me! He parked his car just short of the finish line, and left it there for 11 laps. Maybe he knew that he wasn't going to win and went to the concession stand for a slurpie? Just kidding. I know that he was stuck.

But this completely sucked! I finally beat him, and he had to ruin it by tarnishing my win. :banghead:

Oh, well. At least now I'm past it and can continue on to my goal of winning 4 F-1's at once when I get 100%

Has the AI ever broke your heart like this by destroying everything you worked so hard for. Let me hear your sob stories.

YES! It happened to me on Tokyo Route ... whatever the number is. It's really frustrating. Glad you got the win though (:

And the four simultaneous F1s is pretty cool. When I got mine I was quite thrilled.

Good luck with the rest of the game. Congrats on your first post (:

So you're saving the Formula GT for your last race? That's cool getting the car for that, then the F686/M for Pro League then the F688/S for Simulation Mode then the F094/S for 100%, but then you have a pretty low chance of getting cool colors, and you probably don't want to reload and do 78 laps at Monaco to try again.

I'm going to just save Sunday Cup at Super Speedway for my last race, since it's a race you can finish in 75 sec. Then I can easily keep reloading and doing it until I get the F094/S in a color I like.

I was going to do all of the 10 individual tracks first. I want to make sure that I have all golds. After that, I'll do the series and just win on points. Then I can do the reload to get the colors I want.

Hmmm, so I have a reason to re-do that Beginner Vitz race (later, not now)!

Yeah, that AI pit strategy is funny sometimes: I was racing a 22B in the Professional 4WD race at Deep Forest; we pitted togther, and it was close racing and fair-and-square passing all around the track for 13 of the 15 laps. And then, it just seemed to give up on lap 14.

In Like the Wind, I used my Altezza LM with an oil change and a Stage 3 turbo. The Panoz Esperante, and Skyline GT-R Vspec II, and I were all drafting each other. If it weren't for the prize 787B and the close quarters and drafting each other, I'd had nearly fallen asleep. But after 16 laps, the Panoz decided to switch pit strategies and pit about 3 laps after it's last stop. The GT-R decided to pit twice in the last 5 laps.

In GT2, the AI used to "throw in the towel" if you were ahead of your main rival in the last race, yet not in title-clinching contention. That car would drop from 2nd to 3rd or 4th just to make sure you won it all. That would annoy me sometimes.

The GT3 AI wants you to be bored or unchallenged sometimes!

i know what you're talking about tazio..although i cant sometimes rember because thats happened to me a few times.

anyway welcome to gtp :D

I've done that before.

I was running the Seattle Edurance in an F090/S. Hey, I wanted to get it done with. :) Anyway, I was on my way up the hill. I think my eyes were still open, and my fingers were still moving, but trust me, I was not awake! There are 2 jumps & on the third one, you brake for the corner right? Well for some reason, I was thinking that there were 3 jumps. I fell asleep just as my car was taking off. My car went flying into the wall at well over 100 mph. Maybe faster. I don't know, I was sleeping. :D

That'll wake you up!

Like the Wind has the weirdest AI pitting I've seen. When I did it a few days ago, I was slower than the Viper, but I was able to draft him. Then he decided to pit on 5/6, 11/12, 17/18 ...

I don't pit on like the wind, there's no intricate corners I need my tires for, so I don't care who pits when, aslong as I have a fast car catching up to me or infront of me i'm fine.

Nobody pits on Like the Wind. We were just discussing the odd AI behavior.

And BTW, if the site isn't responding, that doesn't mean your post didn't go through.

welcome to my forum d00d :)
please enjoy your stay :D

bad AI is just a way of life now. I have come to grips with them...

That must have been frustrating, yeah, I'd be pi**ed if I lost 5 times to a viper!

Well, my sob story involves the Laguna Seca 200 also, although mine isn't as "sob" as yours...

I'd trialed about 7 cars to race the 200 before I decided on a car - that's 7 cars that COULD NOT keep up with the Oreca Viper.

I finally decided on the Corvette C5R, with no power upgrade and Super-Slicks. I went out with a passion and qualified second (behind the wonder-car).

I started the race, and decided to stick right on the Oreca's tailpipe instead of going for the pass, because I knew I'd outrun him due to better cornering.

Anyway, we got to the 8th lap (the Viper's pit lap) and he braked that little bit more, just for the extra slow-down afforded to the pit-entry, so he wouldn't overshoot. My concentration happened to wonder a little on the corner before the pit entry, when I realised that the Viper had slowed down 10 kays more than he would've on a non-pit lap.

So I realised too late, slammed the brake and just tapped him slightly on the rear, which pushed him out onto the dirt. When he tried to get back on the track, he hit the barrier between the road and the pit entry, got stuck there for a lap, and I had to nail him on the next lap to get him out of his spot.

I wasn't going to stop and wait for him to catch up, because then I would've got passed for the lead.

In the end the Viper managed to pull his way back to second, and I won by two laps.

I did; but it was retain some form of sanity and to make a race out of it. I had the slightest edge on the Panoz all along, and you have to entertain yourself somehow for 35 minutes of a droning engine note. The car was also pulling to the right after 10 laps, so I figured I'd follow the Esperante in.

Yeah, that Viper and I were absolutely flying! He sat there for 11 laps and still managed to pull off 2nd place:eek:

I don't know if I've ever pitted on Test Course. I think when I first got GT3 I tried to one time, but missed the entrance, then realized there was no need to pit.

It is kind of disappointing. Just when you think you're having an interesting race, the guy you're drafting pitts two laps in a row...

Lol Watch in GT5, instead of D1GP Cars like in GT4, they'll have Nascar cars, and like 5 different versions of Super Speedway/test course

YAY! I can see it now, GT5 featuring all things NASCAR . . . oooooooooyyyyyyyeeeee! (shotgun blast in background) I can't wait for that. It ain't gonna be just a good game, it'll be the best dan'gun game ever that there has been made. It sure should be very swell game. I just hope it has that Viagra car in it, if it ain't havin' that car in the game, well I ain't gonna be very happy.

I can see it now.

I pitted one time while racing my Viper GTS street car, and I guess I was going too fast because my car didn't slow down in time enough to pull in to the stopping area to get a tire change. My car went straight threw without stopping.

I tried to pit one time after that, but I don't know why though.:D
