So GTPlanet...I have a question to ask you all on behalf of my friend Sam. He recently had his '93 Impreza WRX written off after it was hit whilst parked by some tit in a modded up Corsa. Long story short, back end of the chassis is wrecked, the entire rear end is dented beyond repair, and the insurance payout is pretty impressive.

Even though he loved his Scooby, he now wants something else, so he's asked me to post this here to ask you: what pre-80's car would you put his 350bhp EJ20 into and why?

TL;DR - friend scrapped an Impreza, wants to swap the engine into something old, so tell me what you'd do

I hope he finds a suitable replacement. I can't think of anything right now . but MKI/II sounds good.

Is he looking for something along the lines of a Impreza/rally style car?
Or a BMW 2002?

Agreed, He could try a 240z or a 280z. Many of the restored ones I see are in good condition and are fairly cheap.

This too. With the length of the Capri's bonnet you've got plenty of room.

I'd preferably drop it in an '86 Capri, however I have to use some pre '80s car so any year would really do it justice. You can have some fund with 350hp. Of course, building it with a budget build would be even more fun.
