My game deleted save by its self whats going on!?!??

I just turned on my ps3 normally and then it brought me to a legal screen I agreed, all my data deleted and I can't upload my saved data from Psp what is going on here????

Hard drives fail. Software fails.

It's no one's fault but these things can happen to any platform. It's pretty much standard to back any important information up.

I don't know what day and age you live in, but in current time, where I live, there is no such thing has hardware that doesn't fail, software that doesn't fail, or humans that don't fail, and that's why geeks invented backup utilities. If you have time to play it, you have time to save it.

I don't know what day and age you live in, but in current time, where I live, there is no such thing has hardware that doesn't fail, software that doesn't fail, or humans that don't fail, and that's why geeks invented backup utilities. If you have time to play it, you have time to save it.

Check your PS3 game save listings; did it convert to "Unknown" as corrupted data? That happened to me on a different game during a power surge while the game was trying to save. If that's the case, you have my sympathies, and it may be your home/power system that caused the "deletion". In my case, it was a stupid storm.

For those who want to have "auto-backup", maybe consider the PS Plus; periodic backups on the Cloud service are made automatically. You may want to look into that. I haven't needed to use the backup system, yet.

On the plus side, with all the available seasonal events, reclaiming the lost ground shouldn't be too arduous.. having restarted previous editions of GT, I can say from experience the licences etc will seem a lot easier the second time around.

Truthfully, I have no idea about how many PS3/GT5 games are without internet, but I don't like depending on clouds personally. Servers of any type are subject to failures, not to mention security breaches, but it couldn't hurt to offer it has an option.
SSD's however, I use them, I prefer them to the spin HD type, but they are not failure proof. They can corrupt data. They don't like static/surges or electronic interference from other devices. They are less dependant on mechanics, but still contain components that can fail. Out of twelve I use in various hardware/computers, two have failed, one was restorable. When they get cheaper, I'd agree that they should be used, but they are not going to end hardware failure/data loss, only reduce it.

And if server-side saving was the only option, people would complain that it's DRM. Can't win.

The reason is that when the PS3 was launched, SSDs were still prohibitively expensive. $600 wouldn't buy a 32GB SSD back then. And they were even more failure prone than they are now...oh, didn't you hear that SSD's aren't failure proof?

But hey, if you think SSD is the solution, then upgrade it yourself.

But yeah, your original post and replies reek of a misguided sense of entitlement. With any mechanical or electronic device, errors are possible. "In this day and age" you should know better.

Firstly, PlayStation Plus allows you to back up saves online, no way ANYONE is going offer a feature like that free of charge, the costs are too high and it would have to apply to every game.

Secondly, when the PS3 launched SSD's were very, very expensive and the console was already expensive. SSD's are still expensive, but if you can find one that fits, you can use a SSD in the PS3 as the HDD is user replaceable.

but here's the thing I did back up my save file on a psp and tried to retrieve it only it dosn't recognize it on the ps3, when I check my psp sd card data its there but for some reason I can't upload it on the ps3. what can i do?

You don't have to back it up everytime you play.
You just have to back it up every now and then, unless you're hell bent on never missing a days progress, then back it up everyday, it's not 3 minutes and it's not hard.🤬 happens.

....which is why I copy over my old data everytime I play. When I play I dont usually BS, I make money and buy several cars. Why would I want to do that again if it only takes me a couple seconds to copy it??

Hmmm....stupid?? Because, I believe Im not the one here with lost saved data. Stupid is thinking PD or Sony is responsible for your ignorance.

I think PSN has an online save data folder or something as well doesnt it?? I dont know because I dont use it. But, I remember seeing something like that while I was scanning my PS home page.

Btw...this forum is infested with incredibly disrespectful people. Never seen anything like it from any of my other forums Im on. Maybe its the amount of young children with lack of parental supervision...not sure. Too bad there isnt a better way to regulate things like that.

To the OP...just buy a thumb drive for a few $ and your be good to go next time. Run through the threads on here as Ive seen possible ways of retrieving your data again. I dont know if this circumstance is the same but worth a look. Im too good at forum searching so if someone could.....

I do not know the cause, but it was after updating the game to 1.12.
Hopefully, I had a backup.

Consider how many games are released on PS3... why should GT get preference over x number of other games? Unless they do it for all games, which would be an insane amount of data to be storing per user. It's just not a feasible solution to offer such a thing free of charge.

Thank you...another intelligent, not lazy person is here. Btw, tested it, and it took me 9 sec total to copy and transfer my data. Made me mad though cause I had something I was suppose to do at 7 secs. Stupid Sony making me take care of my own crap.

I usualy back up my game save every time I give a car away to a friend and it takes less than 5 seconds to back up the game save...
