Hey boys and girls

I didnt just get GT5 on the 25th but also a PS3. Its my 1st foray into next gen gaming and its pretty sweet :) .

I'm a GT player from way back, having played the very 1st GT1 demos in the early days at my Auntys house all the way to GT4 where I golded everything there was to gold. I'd like to think I was an accomplished GT player.
What a shock it is to dive back into the franchise 4 years later. The game has changed massively- and in a positive way to!
The game engine has obviously changed. Old news to everyone but a big deal for me. I've had to relearn everything. The biggest change I felt was in the brake modulation. No longer do I simply press a button and slow down. The pedal has to be modulated to prevent a skid. It took me awhile to pick it up.
Speaking of pedals etc, I've actually bought a Driving Force GT pack and it does make the difference between a slow and fast time. Very happy with it.

There's not much more to say that someone else hasn't already. The graphics are great, soundtrack is great and I cant wait to try out some of the exotic cars found in the dealerships, altough I'll stay away from the billion skylines thanks very much  .
The only bad part about the game is its fanbase. I have only to read one comments section in the news to find a large concertration of whingers. Everything from shadows, to flaking paint to weather effects. Everyone has a gripe about something. Its been 5 long years and people still dont know what they got. Pick up a copy of GT1 and it'll put everything into perspective.

Alternativly jump into the car in the driveway and flog the pants off it. Nothing like real life to put you all at peace :sly:

Its good to be back into gt 👍

Back when GT1 was around there was no competition. Gran-Turismo was the ONLY simulation driving game. It isn't 1998 anymore. You now have a lot of simulation driving games with some that are on the level the GT series notably Need for Speed Shift and Forza 3.

PD had 5 years to release a sequel where it took Forza 2 years to release theirs. Not only that but PD had the time to study and be inspired by these other games. Now that GT5 has been released, I think we can all agree that it is a bit underwhelming. For example, it is down-right embarrassing for Porsche to be missing from the manufacturer roster.

There is a problem with the steering on my Mercedes mclaren SLR

I use GT steering wheel with no driving aids just 1 abs +
racing : supersoft tires (force feed back maxed 10)

The biggest problem is when I'm cornering at low speeds its already understeering

The only time it oversteers is if I accelerate turn in from within 0-40 kmh

Other than that all low/mid cornering gets a huge understeer Never goes correctly even if I try slowing down and trying to remove the understeer waiting for an oversteers but never came ( it is basically like I have ASM all the time........ It won't let me unleash the savagery )

this doesn't feel or look right it rarely oversteers and mostly understeer when I try to neutralize the understeer then trying for a bit of oversteer at the exit it never came nor did it for all IT'S LIKE I HAVE ASM all the time which I do not.. ever

Another thing is the brakes I was expecting great brakes but I think it's not that great compared to the real mclaren SLR braking capability

Watch both to see what I mean by McLaren SLR braking capability xD

Anyone have the same feeling?

Well why dont you go play something else then?

While agree with his view, except for NFS shift:tdown:, TBH FM3 even with a great online has been out for over a year, I really only play it once or twice a month now, probably not at all for a month or 2 while grinding through GT5. But I too expected a lot more than none of the old issues getting fixed, plus new ones, and graphical glitches that ruin the immersion. We did get a new great physics model, love it, but its only great if I'm doing a time trial and don't wreck, as soon as the car hits a wall or other car all immersion is once again lost due to poor collision physics and the odd invisible damage thing.:yuck:

I must admit in the few days before the game came out i got excited :) the same feeling i used to get before the previous titles came out and when i got it it didnt dissapoint overall im very impressed. Yeah there are a few bugs but its nothing that cant be sorted with updates and lets be honest theres not as many as in alot of other games and they never get sorted out we have had 2 updates already in less than a week. I am also not impressed with the fan base as there is a lot of whining going on yeah its taken x amount of years to be released but it still doesnt mean it will be problem free if anyone was expecting that then more fool them and id like to see them do a better job :). The standard cars look good and are not worlds apart from the premiums apart from the in car view and the sense of speed you get is great since getting the faster cars iv driven them and thought thats quick which i have never got in other games. If PD look on this forum you have done a great job and good luck with GT6 👍

GT5 is no-doubt a great game in the GT style. It has pretty much everything you come to expect from a GT game. However I do feel that PD have tried too hard to push the PS3 and the game suffers graphically IMO as a result. I think they should have realised that the PS3 is not quite up to the task for what they were trying to achieve and taken a less is more approach graphically. There's plenty of other racing games out there now that can pretty much kick GT5's butt graphically (something unheard of for previous GT versions). This for me doesn't matter too much as it's the actual racing I'm most interested in and GT5 delivers very nicely here and still tops the list in this field as all other contenders as still too arcade style IMO. I just hope that PD are now able to keep updating and expanding GT5 with DLC until the arrival of GT6 which I would like to see on PS4 to do it real justice. GT5 - not perfect but still firmly my favourite racing game franchise.
