Well, already the plan has changed but for the better:p No longer am I going for a Honda but now a Yamaha. Went to a local Honda/Yamaha dealer, mainly to look at the CG125 in person, and it is gorgeous! As is the CBR125 I must add. I was talking to one of the sales people about the CG125 and he asked if I was picky as to the manufacturer of my bike and I said no, so he showed me the Yamaha YBR125, same price as the Honda, same style, almost looks the same, but, it had Yamaha insurance deals, free 3rd party or £225 for 3rd party F&T. Also the sales person said the Yamaha is one step ahead in the technology side and of course has the legendary Yamaha reliability and so on.

This outlet also does CBT training for £125 inclusive of equipment hire which is good and I could do my CBT and ride awa on the Yamaha on the same day!

Eleven horsepower? Wow. I've never seen a motorcycle like that in my area. There are 750 and 1000 sport bikes rolling all over the place, along with the big Harleys and lots of other heavy cruisers, but very few scooters and mopeds.

I wish you luck on your license. If you were in America I'd frown on your decision to get a bike as your first vehicle, but you aren't, and bikes are far more practical in England. Much less expensive, too. Just don't get run over by those dudes in the white vans. And don't let Suzzie ride on the back of it.

And how exactly are you going to get a TV to Newark on that? Hmmm?

Heh, good luck with it 👍 Rather you than me though... I've played enough GTA to put me off bikes for some time :scared:

It's always been something in the back of my mind to possibly get a bike, but then you have to factor the extra training costs and the costs of the bike gear etc so I never realy bother.

Plus the fact that doctors usually refere to bikers as 'donors'[/IQQUOTE]

It works like this:

1. Do your CBT, which is valid for 2 years.
2. During this time you can go for the A1 (-125cc) or the A2 (120-125cc) full licenses.
3. The A license, the test machine size is 500+cc but this license allows any size bike to be ridden, from 50 to 1000+. You have to be 21 in order to go for this license though.

Forget about getting a good looking bike, you're gonna be wearing L-plates :D

I'd get a cruiser, probably abit safer.

Heh, I would hardly call the CG good looking:p Hopefully by the time I get a CBR I'll have passed my full license so bye bye L plates on the good looking bike:p

Wow, I've never heard of a CBR125, I'm guessing it's a Europe only bike? It looks pretty cool, kinda like a shrunken skinnier version of the CBR600's and CBR1000's.

Yep its a smaller version of the CBR600s and CBR1000s, not sure if its limited to europe, I think itis quite a new model.

It's such a poser bike :p

(N.b. I hate hair-rier sounding sports bikes, due to their crap-tacular ego-swollen riders.)

New major devlopment in my quest!

Just went to the local Motorbike center, they specialize in Honda and Yamaha. I originally went in to have a little look at a CG125 in person, my word what a gorgeous bike it is. Anyway, went through to the Yamaha section out of curiousity and came across the YBR125, simalair style to the CG125, same price and everything, but on a little leaflet hanging off the bikes handlebars it said "free insurance" I was sold there and then! Same price as the Honda with free insurance! yes please! Spoke to one of the guys there, he reccomended the Yamaha because its one step ahead of the CG in terms of technology and the insurance deal.

I can also do my CBT at this center for £125 which is more expensive than I originally planned, but, this includes bike hire, equipment hire and insurance etc. Also in the final section of the CBT (2 hour road ride) I will be able to use my Yamaha for the final hour!:D Also, £1999 sounds a lot but I can get it on finance, standard 7% rate, where I can pay for it over time with a £99 deposit which is great!

Another good thing about this palce is, I can do my CBT and ride away on my own bike in the same day! for about £211 effectively I can do my CBT and have my own bike. So with all this new devlopment it should be less than a month until im riding!

Yamaha makes excellent bikes and I wish we had something like that in America, I want to get a bike but the thought of me on a 600cc R6 just doesn't seem like a good idea. I'm only used to riding 125cc dirt bikes.

Good luck to you!
