Wow what a day, my great-grandma gave me a call (she's 98 years old) and told me she had something for me. So I drive over to her house which is a good hour and a half away. So I get there and go in a talk to her for a while, she hands me two sets of keys. One set is to a garage at a cabin I didn't know she still had and the other set is to a 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal. She said the car was mine if I could get it started. It took me about an hour but I got it started and drove it home after a buddy of mine came to get my truck.

So ya its a ghetto glider, its rusted, needs shocks, needs a muffler, and I'm sure there are other things but it runs decently. It also only has 33,000 miles on it which is pretty damn good. I snapped some pics of it at a buddies house.

Oh ya it has a 307 V8 in it. I don't know the numbers though. It sounds like a beast without an exhaust.

Well it has been sitting in the garage for 4 or 5 years. I'm surprised the tires weren't dry rotted.

Actually since it was free I think I'm going to clean it up and sell it. But who knows. I have to save my money right now so I'll have to wait and see what shakes loose.

Don't be silly! Keep it! That 307 has TONS of potential.

Speaking of "ghetto cruisers", I wasn't able to get the 850 Turbo wagon that I wanted... :banghead: :(

I did, however, buy another car!!!

It's a 1988 (same as the T-Bird), Volvo, 740 Turbo wagon... :dopey:

It has a 2.3-liter (same as the T-Bird), turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (same as the T-Bird) with 2 valves per cylinder (same as the T-Bird) and a single overhead camshaft (same as the T-Bird). It has a sunroof (same as the T-Bird), power everything (same as the T-Bird), and LOTS 'O TRUNK space.

Anyway, I'd say keep that car, save your money (for now) and then buy something you'll really enjoy. That's what I plan on doing. After the Volvo 740 Turbo "expires", my next car will hopefully be a Volvo S70 T5 or maybe even a C70 (high-pressure turbo).

By the way... if you do decide the keep the Olds (which I suggest you do at least for a little while), remove the tow hitch. :sly:

*edit*

I just looked it up: the 5.0-liter V8 in the Olds puts out 140 horsepower... can't find a torque figure.

Dude, that thing is a mean ghetto cruiser, you should keep it and make it better. I'm not really sure what stuff you could do to this but I reckon that with some nice wheels and sacked down real low (airbags maybe :D) it'd look mad.

Plus fix the rust spots....

Well I'm going to keep it for a while. Me and my dad are going to paint it, body work, and stuff. I'm going to put some shocks on it and a Flowmaster. And my dad is going to buy some Cregars for it. Wow knows what will happen to it.

Sweet! 👍 A non-EGR Edelbrock manifold and carb would make a world of difference. (if you wanted to go that way with it)

Is your dad going to get Cragar supersports for it? Those would look kinda nice on that car.

If Event still has his olds, you should race him, and see who wins. :sly:

aahh i can see it now, shaved, slammed, cragars or maybe torq thrusts (painted centres ooh!suit you!) or some other hot rims nyum nyum 👍

yow baybeh smokin :D

I'm going to look at wheels tomarrow.

And holy crap that looks friggen sweet stumpy. Oh I can't wait to work on it.

Drop an LS2 in it...now that would be serious pimpage. Also, shag out the interior! No, I'm serious. :sly: You can be assured of getting some of your investment back if you ever want to sell it once it's finished. 👍

P.S. According to: http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/ofe307.htm the torque is 255lb. ft.

1G3BY69A?

That car listed for about $12000 in 1985 - it was also available with a 5.7L (350 CID) diesel V8. :D

You could also get a V6, which must have been underpowered as all hell. I might sell it though since a guy offered me $1500 yesterday. I don't know, I have to see what my dad wants to do.

Ya I the only old Olds I can think of that was FWD is the Torronado.

My Olds 88 is FWD with a 3.8L V6. Is my 1989 88 have the engine that comes standard in the '85? M5, I'm talking to you!

Blazin, join the 88 crew! 👍

Except my 88 pwnes your 88 . I mean come on I have a V8, plus its the Royal edition....wait a minute its just an Olds .

I'm sure mine is lighter and more aerodynamic than yours, though!

I bet since mine has to be close to 6,000 pounds and looks like a brick.

Nothing wrong with a car that looks like a brick...

*cough* Volvo 740 Turbo wagon *cough* :dopey: :dopey:

...and don't even think about selling it! :odd: Regardless of the offer.

Ya but your brick has a turbo, which means you can get grocercies home before the ice cream melts . And oh ya you can roll your car off a cliff, have it land on sharpe rockes, roll on to a train track causing it to get hit by a speed freight train, finally coming to rest after hitting several trees...you would just get out and be like wow I that was a fun ride. Damn you and your saftey car .

True!

But you have a huge 5.0-liter V8 with tons of torque. I'm sure the Olds trunk is big enough to hold a Mini.

True!

However, your car weighs 4,100 tons. So you would just plow through the cliff, train, trees...

Damn you and your "Yank Tank"! :dopey:

Well I need to test out the power in the car, I took it easy on the way home since it hadn't been driven in years. My dad's actually been driving it lately, maybe I can take it out tomarrow night.

You could fit so many dead bodies in the trunk its ridulious. However the rear shocks are really bad, I mean you hit a but and you lay frame.....errr bottom out (damn the mini trucker). But ya it looks like a hooptie.

I need to find some stats on the car. You know where to look Event?
