Yeah, the more of these cockpits i build and tear down, the more i realize that when your in the game, you don't notice the cockpit, so its kindof a waste of space, (no offence to OP, this is a nice cockpit). Now i've had the epifany that the best way to create immersion and keep the comfort factor high is a minimalist approach that maximizes the immersion factors that you notice the most- big huge screen size = surrounding you with more realism, so I use a projector from behind onto the wall. Then seating position, my last cockpit sat too low so instead of looking down the hood of the car onto the street ahead like you would if you were really racing, you look up at the screen, not over the steering wheel. Placement and screen size are more important that people think for adding realistic feel to a game, oh and for gods sake, you have to get something to rumble the chair - like a buttkicker, that is critical! I've spent countless hours building racing sim rigs like the one above, but nothing compares to my new approach. Love love love my new setup- just a comfy gaming chair with a sturdy mounted wheel, with the projector right above my head. truely realistic and comfortable, especially in 3D mode!
