YSSMAN
For those who don't know, Michigan is moving away from the classic blue plates by the end of 2007, so much to my unwillingness to change out "old blue," I decided to bite the built and order a new one. Well, it showed up this afternoon, much to my surprise:

Thats right, I ordered 'TOPGEAR' as my plate. Now I'm the only man in Michigan with it, and its awesome! The folks at the DMV had no idea what it was, so it was pretty easy to get, something that I wanted to grab before it disappeared...

So, consider it a celebration of BBC America showing Top Gear, the awesomeness of Clarkson, or just being a fan of something. I'll add more photos of it on the car later today...

UPDATE! Its on the Jetta now!

BTW: I just noticed that there is part of the Grand Rapids skyline there on the top of the plate. Thats cool!

YSS, that's awesome. I know how much of a fan you are, and it's great that you now have Top Gear on a plate.

...Wait, that didn't come out right....

XP

once again, well done!

That's awesome... I'm assuming you'll send the info to TopGear and mebbe Clarkson will feature it on the show... until he notices it's on a German car :scared:

Cool vanity plate YSSMAN.... HOw much more did it cost?

It was $20 to order it, and its going to cost me an extra $15 a year to keep it on my car (so $90 a year).

Of course I did. I figured it would probably get to them through me, as for the rest of the internet, I assume it would be done by other people.

I love you YSS, awsome plate! I wonder if its taken in Texas? I want to order a real Japanese plate for the front.

Does your state have a plate configurator? I had been looking into this one online for a while. I'm probably going to try to get a UK plate for the front of my car. I used to have a Deutschland EU plate, but it was knocked off at some car wash, and I never saw it again.

I bet some carwash employee jacked that plate. :D "Plate configurator"? If you mean vanity plates then yes. Its an extra $50/yr on top of the registration cost to get legal custom plates. MY problem becuase I live in the stupid state of Texas is that they require front license plates. Granted, we can get away with not having one--but if I put a European or Japanese plate in the front I will MOST LIKELY get a ticket.

*edit*
Apparently it went down to $40?

Nice one, Brad. I'm a huge fan of that SNES classic also, so I'm little bit jeaous. :p

While the design of the plate looks just OK to me, you can't beat the "TOPGEAR" on there. Congratulations!

You shouldn't. A couple Texas M3 owners registered German plates for their cars while keeping Texas plates on the back.

Of course, I don't have a plate on the front of either of my cars (never have), and I've never gotten a ticket. The only time I've heard of someone getting such a ticket was primarily a friend.
Pulled over for doing 70 in a 60Mph, and just to be an ass, ticketed him for also not having a front plate. Cop didn't even notice it til' he decided to walk to the front of the car.

It's only an extra $15 a year for a vanity plate? Why in the hell didn't I know that? I'm going to have to get one now.

Cool plate though 👍!

I tried to get an YSSMAN plate, but it was already taken...

WTF? A weird combination of letters like that is taken, but something as straight forward as TOPGEAR is available? Weird.

Congratulations on the plate though. Personalised plates (that's what we call them here) are really popular and all the decent words/combinations are taken already. And being limited to six characters sucks too.

And they're way more expensive here too, but only with a one-off cost of production.

Well done. Now you just need a Top Gear style car to put it on. :D

My guess is that:

A) The Michigan Secretary of State assumes it is vulgar
B) There is another YSSMAN in my State, may even be a part of the Ysseldyke/VanYsseldyke family...

It's probably already taken, either as someones initials or as an alternative to Yes Man.

Pretty sweet plate I love TOPGEAR, I always wanted a cool vanity plate but it would take me a while to think of one worth spending the money on.
