For new DVD releases:

1.Burn film to disc
2.Go to shop and swap discs, probably involves some stealing
3.????
4.Profit

For DVD's people own:

1.Burn film to disc
2. Go to house and swap discs, probably involves some beating of the occupants
3.????
4.Profit

You touch Terminator 2 and you shall feel the wrath of the gods!! No one swaps Arnie for Matthew Broderick!! :yuck:

For new DVD releases:

1.Burn film to disc
2.Go to shop and swap disc in case
3.????
4.Profit

Step 1 and 2 are good. Also applicable for video rental stores. Also, we are not doing this for profit, but out of principle.

So it will look more like this:
  1. Burn film to disc
  2. Go to shop and swap disc in case
  3. ????
  4. Moral Victory

Correct?

There is profit in here, just not financial. Just knowing that you rule the DVD world is priceless. :sly:

The past few years, between 1 and 1.5 billion DVD's were sold annually. So you need to take this to the source: replace the master-disc that is created for each DVD release, that way you only have to replace one copy per movie, and let the factories replicate the rest, mwuhahahahahaha! This will at least prevent other movies from spreading. :)

Of course, that still leaves all the DVD's that were sold already (20-30 billion?). I think nuking the entire planet will be the most cost-effective solution. That way you only have to visit the nuclear-proof bomb shelters and swap the DVD's in there. And shoot the ISS from orbit.

That's why I need help. I need at least twenty people.

I think it can be done.

Sounds like a job for these guys:

Many video rental stores over here keep all the discs behind the counter. You take a package up to the person and they fetch the disc. So this will involve lots of renting. Maybe if you get an insider who works at Blockbuster on your team.

1. Rent movie
2. Replace movie with FBDO and return
3. ????
4. Moral victory

But what about RedBox?

My plan is to replace every DVD in the world with Ferris Bueller's Day Off. But I need your help.

Discuss.

That is just epically awesome. :D --- Randy

This would be much easier to accomplish if you wait 10 years. You know, since films would be downloaded, or replaced by Blu-rays. There'll be significantly less DVDs to replace. 👍

Make sure you're sneaky when you hit a Blockbuster, they may get suspicious when someone walks in their store.

...Sounds like someone is taking "Save Ferris" too literally.

they may get suspicious when someone walks in their store.

It's sad though, as I used to be a fan of Blockbuster, also Hollywood Video, another video rental giant. Hollywood is nearly gone, Blockbuster has downsized considerably. In our area, Netflix & RedBox has taken over. :(

I'm never giving up my Princess Bride.

Damnit. I saw the title of this thread and my very first thought was this, exactly this.

With an additional "You're swapping it over my dead body" for emphasis.

1. Invent brilliant new media, far superior to Blu-Ray and not backwards compatible with either Blu-Ray or DVD making them immediately obsolete.
2. Sell brilliant new media player for $12.
3. Release only FBDO on BNM and for just $1.
4. ????
5. Profit mission accomplished.

I've cut up my Ferris DVD and put a sliver in each of my other DVD cases. Does that count? The only drawback is I can't watch Ferris anymore.

Anyone got one they can sell me?

All right guys. DAY TWO. How far along are we? Can I get status updates from all of you please...

I bought my 14-year-old daughter a copy. 👍

Journey of a thousand miles etc. etc.

My Princess Bride is still on my shelf. And I don't even have a FB'sDO

Does that make me a member of the resistance???

I have both. I'm a turncoat. I'm wondering whether to watch my Ferris disc or watch Princess Bride again... decisions, decisions.

But daddy... Matthew Broderick is so... so... old.

Yes! Good man!

[edit]: Although technically you have to swap it out for one of her other DVDs. I'm guessing she owns Twilight?

My copy of T2 is still safe and sound. FBDO is not going to replace it in this lifetime, I can guarantee it!! 👍
