Unfortunately it isn't the best of pictures but you get the jist of it. I've had it for three months now and so far it has done me fairly well. It withstood a few hours straight of being run at 100mph. And last night it beat two ricers in a drag race on Woodward Ave. Fun :)

I've always liked those generation Probes, cool looking car. 👍

Now slam sum D's on dat shizznit.

D's = Dubs I assume

Cool car, looks alright. My friend had one a while back that his cousin had slapped a Garret turbo onto. Very fast, but unfortuantly after a couple years of abuse, it started falling apart and so he sold it.

*On a side note, the funniest burnout I had ever seen was with that Probe. Thanks to the tires being so worn that it had more metal showing then tread, as soon as he lit them up, sparks were flying all over the place.

Nice looking Probe. I see a lot of those in horrible condition around here. Auto or five speed?

You go down to Woodward? Hell I try to be down there every Friday and Saturday, I sit at 14 mile.

Five speed.. manual all the way. I wouldn't be caught dead driving a sports car with an automatic.

Really? What goes on over there? I was north of that by a bit, coming home from Auburn Hills and the two ricers pulled up next to me. Very impromptu :)

Did the gen 2 Probe GT still have the turbo 2.3?

Nope... normally aspirated 2.5L V6.

Everyone parks and chills, I'll let you know next time I go.

I have a buddy that used to have a couple Probes. Both were junkers, but the first had an intake and one of the sweetest sounding exhausts I've ever heard. It was super smooth and pretty high-pitched, and it was just amazing.

His second car was spray painted, but hey, it had the Mazda 2.5, not the Ford. I guess the Mazda engine had a different tune and more power. Said Mazda right there on the cam cover.

Sweet 👍

Yeah I bet the Mazda variant does have more power. I get compliments often on my exhaust note - and I love that it doesn't look like a ricer unit.

shame you don't have one...

I kid, I kid!

Boy, go cut yourself a switch...

Clean car, downside is I've heard its a big PITA to get more power out of that V6 with anything short of Forced induction. Buts thats only an issue if you are into modding.

Clean looking car... and don't do nothing absurd to it...

What about a hatchback?

You wish, buddy. Base engine was a trashy 115hp 2-liter, and optional was the not-much-better 165-horse 2.5-liter V6. I say not much better but actually despite the base Accord power output the V6 moved pretty well; a girlfriend of mine had one of these and it surprised me consistently - and that one was an automatic. However, it was a bit slow when first getting going.

'89-'92 Probe turbos peaked at 145hp, so the '93-'97 V6 is the pick of the run - and of those, the '94 is the one to have: dual airbags, the good rear end, and the sportier suspension, which wimped out in '95 or '96.

Oh...a buddy of mine had the gen 1 turbo GT and he was always bragging about how fast it was, but he never raced me...thats probably why.

I guess he didn't feel like losing to a 92 hp Honda.

First off, you know your car isn't a sports car....right?

Second, what makes the other two guys ricers?

Yeah, Probes are full-size trucks!..........

Anyways, I've always liked both generation Probes. Downside on those cars would be trying to fix something. OEM Ford-wise, parts are mostly discontinued or priced like Bimmers'.

Them's fighting words! I've had two cars with the same block, a 130 hp Mazda 626 and the 140 hp Protege... and I love both cars to death!

Oh... wait... the only thing I don't like on those cars is the engine... yeah, it's a total piece of ****.

By 'trashy' all I meant was slow - I give no opinions on its reliability, except to say that it was used in a lot of products so it's got to hold up pretty well.

Yeah I really don't have any plans to upgrade the power. No need to spend money on a slow car to make it fast, when I only plan on keeping it for another couple years or so.

Exactly.

I don't brag to people about how fast my car is - because it's not. It's not slow or fast, by any means. It is slow off the line but climbs steadily and doesn't strain at high rpm or high speed.

First off, you know your car isn't a sports car....right?

I suppose an MGB or old Corvair isn't a sports car then?

I know that my Probe GT is based off the much humbler version that *isn't* a sports car. But remember this was intended to be the flagship sportscar's replacement. I don't know how you can discredit it as a sports car. Like I said above: it's not a blistering fast one - but it is a sports car.

Honestly the two cars I raced were not full-fledged ricers. A Honda Civic and Dodge Neon - both probably from the late 90s or early 2000s with light exterior mods.

Mechanics hate workin on them, too. I'm sure you can guess why.

Just to be clear...I was not taking a crack at you...I was taking a crack at my friend.

An MGB is a sports car. The Corvair is a GT. The probe is an economy car. Just because it has 2 doors doesn't make it a sports car. A Probe isn't high-performance, and wasn't deisgned as such. It was just meant to be the sportier version of a small economy car. Same deal as a Civic Si or a Corolla GT-S, or are those sports cars, too?

So what flagship sports car was the Probe intended to replace again? I don't recall Ford making a sports car at all except for the GT.

Honestly, if I sawa a guy in a Ford Probe with an intake, exhaust and system, driving around town racing Civics and Neons, he'd be the textbook definition of a ricer to me. Then laughter would ensue.

The Probe was going to replace the Mustang.

The Escort was the economy car in Ford's lineup.

Honestly, what makes you think the Probe is an economy car? If anything, your line of attempting to debase my car would follow the "it's a women's car" route.

It has 170 hp (with the mods) so it would trounce those two cars you mentioned.

...except my car doesn't have hideous 'racing' stickers and obnoxious loud exhausts and such. The aftermarket muffler gives it a more throaty sound insteading of making coffee.

As for the flagship sports car comment. If you mean that the Mustang GT is the only sports car, okay. If you mean the Ford GT that is $100,000 is the only sports car, you are nuts.
