Hi. I don't know if any of you have encountered this kind of problems. But I'll list them anyway:

  1. NO Pictures of tracks
  2. NO TRACKS in practice and arcade mode
  3. CANNOT connect GT Open Lobby
  4. Really slow loading in some races.
  5. I cannot continue in most races.

I don't know f there are more, but I'll find out sooner or later.

Any advice or suggestion on how I can fix this problem?

Some people say that I should delete and repeat the game data utility. But that would take me a long time considering that I have really slow internet. Last update (spec 2.0), I downloaded the update for 4 hours or more I think.

I check the game data utility and all in all the I saw 6.8GB. If so, I have to download 6.8GB all over again. Tss. That would take me a long time.

I really need more options before I do this.

Thanks in advance GTP Forumers. :)

I'm not familiar with this problem but have you tried clearing the cache in GT5's Options > Utilities

6.8 GB including installation from cd i think, so you dont have to download that much. Spec 2 was 1.2 gig or something + all previous updates will be around 2 gb. Besides just leave it updating overnight.

The cache shouldn't be the problem. Pretty sure that's just for fixing loading speeds and freezing.

The 6.8gb is the game install size. All updates added up would turn out to be about 2.5gb (I overshot ^^^, Jwalker's probably closer) for sure. Spec 2 was 1.2gb. It'll take a school/work day to get done if Spec 2 took longer than 4 hours. Like you said, I think you should just wait another day. If no one can give you a straight answer, you should just go ahead deleting the game data.

man. that sucks.. Thanks for your suggestion and give me more info. I'll give a day or two. If no one knows how to fix this kind of problem. Might as well go ahead and delete game data.

I think something happened between installation or something when I checked my PS3 after four hours, the console was OFF. So i guess it didn't finish installation or something.

You might have the "Auto System Off" feature for the PS3 On. You should check if you do in the System Settings. If it's Off, then you found the problem and it's that the PS3 turned off during the update.

Be sure to always restart your PS3 when you return to playing GT5. Clearing your cache does nothing.

PD hasn't stopped working. A new update later this month will fix bugs.

Hmm, that's odd. I haven't encountered any problems, in fact since spec 2.0 everything has been running better then ever.

somethin is missing! my game data is over 10GB!

We got a mole!

Who dares lie about the size of the game data?!?!

I agree with Authentic718. Must really suck to be those people who seem to have problems every now and then with GT5. I only had problems with freezing and all that for the first couple of months. Most of it had to do with a corrupted song in my playlist, but it never acts up now.

What do you mean by this?

Yea they are! Confirmed by Kaz, G27 and something else needs to be fixed. I forgot what the other one was.

do you think after the next update, it will be fixed?

i too am getting this problem.
it is very frustrating.
does anyone have a solution to this yet?

i've tried looking for information on the gran-turismo.com forums and there hasn't been much luck.

i will be posting up photos later showing some of the problems mentioned by the OP;

There was a time that my game data was 26GB :boggled:.... how? i have downloaded every free video from GT-TV..... and i tell you that the HDD was having a wild party especially at boot of GT5.

Problem solved.

I deleted the Game Utilities file and re-downloaded v1.05 through v2.0. Took a long time, but I have all my tracks back.

Never heard of this...sounds like you're pretty much screwed.

okay.

back up your saved game and delete the instal/update data.

update and reinstall back. see how it goes.

did you not read my post just above you?
:odd::odd:

It's weird i haven't had ANY problems with spec 2.0. Could this have to do with some people not fully installing the game too?

I installed the game correctly.I took a while for me to download the firmware.

You should believe him, man. Make sure not to delete the file that is only about 2mb. Delete the game data file which is more than 8gb.

With some people, it can take an entire day to download all the updates. Is that the problem you have, too? Well, one of the problems.

that is one of the problems I had when I downloaded the spec 2.0 it took me 18hrs to download the file.
If I dont delete the 2mb file,my progress will be saved?I mean the races that I've won,the credits and the cars will be saved?Need to be sure coz I sure would hate to erase the cars I got and start bak with my Nissan March:sly:

Yes, the small file should be deleted.

If you don't want to leave your PS3 on for so long and you don't mind waiting another week or a little longer, PD is releasing an update that'll fix some issues that people have been running into. Kaz only mentioned a couple fixes, but considering many people are experiencing your type of problem, I would think they're fixing this issue, too.

All the updates add up to about 2.5gb including Spec 2. So it should take you over 1.5 days to finish downloading it all again. Some people leave the systems on for days at a time. Always. Unless you have issues with leaving it on for 2 days, it shouldn't be a problem. I don't like to do that, but if I ever had to, I would.

Don't delete the "Saved Game" file, which is a small file. Back it up to a USB if you're still unsure (a good idea in general). You won't remove any of your game progress, just the patches.

Delete only the big file in the Game Utilities Folder. It should be around 8+gb in size.

Once you restart your game, you'll be prompted to update to Version 2.0. Once you click it, you'll have two status bars come up. It'll automatically download whatever versions you need in chronological order.

Takes a while, but it solves the problem.
Now I'm enjoying the new update :)
