They can't do it. They're too busy with all those crazy suggestion I've flooded poor jujunosuke's inbox with

Nah, 1 of them have already been announced, 1 I haven't had feedback on, and the last one's a 50/50 if I understood him correctly (not first priority from that brand) :)

Edit: Oh, and, if you really want to show this is Gran Turismo inspired, make a theme song at the same level as MOTC. Things don't get much more Gran Turismo than that one :)

I am one more time trying to make a city based racetrack...
I hope i can learn from my previous mistake and get more success with this one.

The picture needs a little AA :P But the idea of the city tracks are cool. But isn't using NAMCO banners dangerous? If you know what I mean.

Congratulation you found it :D
Actually, i am using Namco logo for a special and temporary reason.

As a fan of Ridge Racer Type 4, i am trying to reproduce the atmosphere of a RRT4 city racetrack.

I always thought it would be amazing to race on a city based track like the ridge racer series one but driving with a Gran Turismo type physics.

I am doing good progress everyday on the track.
I didn't established the path of the track yet, but i think i will probably make a kind of multi-path track. Could be fun to go in many possible direction.

More screenshot to come very soon!

So, the first quote means I can present some of my really crazy ideas about mountain sides, underwater tunnels, huge loop-de-loops, 30 meter drops.. OK, the last ones were a bit overexaggerated :)

The second quote means it's more a "multiple choice" course? E.g. you can either choose a slightly longer but straighter course, or a shorter but slightly less straight course? Either way, I'm looking forward to trying it 👍

Hey guys what's up ?

I am putting together nice ideas to complete the City Racetrack (or at least to provide a good beta version).

After trying to copy too much Ridge Racer i realized that the track layout would not fit well with the simulation oriented driving style..

So at the moment i am trying to find a good track layout that can be exiting and fit the driving style of the game well.

Thats not easy but i am going to do my best, and hopefully some new screenshot very soon!

This can be also possible but hard to do because i have to balance both path to make them almost similar in a time.

What i originally meant is that i can also make a short course, a medium and long one inside this same city.

Ah, the Special Stage Route 5 logic, now I get it :dopey:

May I come with a paint sketch of a possible layout? Can't get anywhere near what I usually use for this right now :)

rallymorten, please show me some layouts!

The more detailed your sketch are the better.
If you draw a top view, it can be nice to place element such as building area, garden area, Autoban ramp etc...

The more detailed the better!

At the moment, i am trying to make more Building assets, because in order to provide a cool city, the number of assets is pretty huge!

Damn, a city track is definitely not an easy task :(

ImmalovemaGTR, please! go ahead!

rallymorten just gave me a rough sketch of a city racetrack layout.
Now, working on some city assets creation.
Started doing some buildings, advert panels, street lamp etc..

I think i would need at least 30-50 buildings in order to make something interesting.
The most important buildings will be quite detailed, and the less important ones are going to be low poly.

Here is a shot of some wip assets.

Lookin' good 👍

What tool do you use to create tracks etc? If possible (that is, if the tool is free) I could just create the tracks I randomly think of and send them, as good as ready for the game, your way :)

I wish you good luck with this project, liked what I tried, but I need to get my DFGT hooked up to my pc and try it out some more.

I am happy, because the new city concept is really cool and quite simple to create.
With a good level of freedom.

Basically its work like a puzzle.
I am making some 256*256 meters of tiles than can rotated in order to make an unique and tilable city.

The best example are carcassonne tiles.

So with only few patterns, its possible to create interesting city.

One the base structure of the city is done, the best is to add some very unique building or architecture to make the city look unique and not too repetitive.

Also, adding slopes help the city to get a less repetitive look.
To finish, few extras like highway ramps and stuff like that and you have a good time driving in a city!

Cool! more news and screenshot about the process soon!

A few worn streets would be cool 👍

You still haven't answered as to what you're using to make the tracks :)

Sorry!

We use Blender, its free and totally awesome.
There is a learning curve of course like every complex 3D software but after you watch few tutorials, its just really easy to understand the key concepts.

I really recommand it!

If anyone would like to help the city project and create unique buildings (Tokyo style buildings) you are very welcome!
I would be happy to add them in the city.

You had me at "free and totally awesome" 👍

That means I should be able to send 90%-ish done tracks your way for you to inspect :)

Edit: First looks at it and it does look like a very professional tool.. I don't even know how to make an effin' road, let alone create buildings and landscapes (the latter is a vital part of the track in my mind)

I guess I'll just have to watch some tutorials and experiment, I just hope this track can be doable

Rallymorten, if its the first time you use Blender, you won't be able to make a full racetrack.
First you need to make some small and simple assets and texture them.
You can make research on how to make low poly assets or buildings and how to UV texture in Blender.

After you feel more confident in your skills, you can move to more important project.

Another screenshot.
Can't wait to create more variety!

Looking great, Juju! Quite the progress you've made since the first build.

👍

Yeah, I noticed :scared:

I think until I gain more experience I'll stick to flooding your inbox with TM videos of track ideas
