IF you are new to GT, then grab the GT5 used for $20. its three times the joy of of GT6... you would enjoy it

IF you are a fan of GT5 like I was, then this is a mixed bag. This is the GT5 Demo not the real GT 5 upgrade. They have taken away about 70% of the GT5 features and fun out of it. If you want the whole GT game, get GT5 for $20

IT is similar to GT5 in terms of tracks and very few cars that you could get your hands on (without you have to pony up to Polyphony the company additional $$$$. The similarity ends there..the whole way of racing here has changed... and very limited. They have set it up so the company can fleece you. Lets not fall into their money pit trap.

The good part:

1) The suspension addition is fantastic... IT is really a joy to drive cars..even the crappy low cars are better in GT6 than it was in GT5. IT makes it not only easier to drive, but if you have been driving cars for real, it would be intuitive to the expectation of what the car would do.

2) The eye candy/glossiness of the car is a shade better than it was in GT5

3) The NASCAR is much harder here that it was in GT5 which is good.. it seems more realistic..I think. (since I have never driven a real life NASCAR).

Cons:

1. The driving and visual part of the car improvement is marginal...but since GT franchise is amazing, I can't really complain too much on this front

2. The Cr is too little and not worth trying hard so I simply gave up. I got my NASCAR and went online. I don't think I'll be racing much in GT 6 except Dirty NASCAR online.

Remember, children used to collect baseball cards and exchange them and so on, Now imagine the company basically prevents these kids from baseball collection and exchange and so on..instead tries to cut in on by selling it themselves with a caveat you can't exchange them with your friends.. you can't give them an so on... And now it costs an arm and a leg. This company is so greedy they want to kill the fun out it totally.

I played the GT5 end to end 3 times and I collected all the race cars.. I maintained a spreadsheet of it and made sure I collected them 100% and I did it 3 times. Now if you want to do somthing like that you would have to pay more than $500 to GT company/Polyphony or whatever ...FOGGETABOUTIT.

They have removed the following Joys that was in GT5.

- Ability to collect cars GONE.
- Ability to exchange cars and pains with friends GONE.
- Ability to earn money to buy cars in GT6 is Gone.. I am almost half way through and I have gotten only around 750K I can't buy crap with that pddily credit
- User car purchase GONE!
- Used dealership GONE!
- 50% of features found in GT5...The B thingi...is GONE! WTF!
- FUN GONE!

So they have stripped GT5 to its bare bones and added a slight shine to the cars and added Suspension to the car and selling us this garbage!

GT 6 has nothing else that I want I am done with GT...except for online Dirty NASCAR.

They have taken away the fun out of trading cars and what not...they think we will pay them money.. I am not here to keep paying you money...So Bugger offf ..you are not gonna get a dime more from me than what I paid for already $60

This is more of a bitter rant than a review to be honest, though the last paragraph was entertaining

You can still collect cars.
The UCD is useless considering you can now buy every car from the NCD.
There is no need to exchange items with your friends anymore now that you can buy the items whenever and don't have to go on a scavenger hunt.
50% of the features being removed is simply untrue, and the few features that have been removed, such as B-Spec & Course Maker, are confirmed by PDI themselves to be added in future updates.

I'm unsure what point you're trying to make with that last paragraph. It sounds like your mindlessly ranting.

He's not ranting he's absolutely right it's impossible to collect money to purchase cars in this. I'm 28% in and have rarely bought any cars trying to save up and have around 670K in credits which is hardly anything when most GT cars and Le Mans and supercars are at minimum 500k and if you want something good it's over 1 million K.

They need to triple the rewards or quadruple them so we can have any chance to purchase a few GT cars and have a nice flexible garage instead of being on the edge not knowing what to do with your money since if you purchase one decent car it won't do you any good for most events.

I think that Polyphony Digital/Sony were influenced by Turn 10/Microsoft with the spending of actual currency for in game credits. PD/Sony probably noticed that Forza Motorsport 5 was offering players the choice to buy in game credits with their own hard earned money and figured that they should follow suit with Gran Turismo 6. There might be some people out there who don't have a lot of time to play the game, but have a lot of real currency to spend in order to get millions of in game credits. I am not one of them. I hope that there are not very many people spending real money in any racing games (or other game genres) to gain credits. I would hate for this to become the new trend for video games.

Gran Turismo 5 was nice in the way that you could borrow cars from friends to use. I was able to borrow outrageously priced vehicles like Ferrari Formula 1 race cars, 1960s Jaguar race cars (cannot remember the model name at the moment, XJ13?), and many other great cars. Some people even generously gifted me cars and paint colors.
After I heard about the credit purchasing option in Gran Turismo 6 I was hesitant to buy it. Unfortunately I lost my copy of Gran Turismo 5 somewhere in my house. It was nice that I was able to buy the Game Stop pre-order 15th Anniversary Edition with some additional free cars that greatly help with the progress. Earning credits is a little bit less painful than usual, but still I only have about 150,000 credits now that I am about 45% complete. Did anyone else get the 15th Anniversary Edition version of Gran Turismo 6?

Ability to collect cars is gone? Why, just because you can only have a few hundred actively in your garage whereas the rest must be stowed away in the Stockyard? You still have 'em, you're still collecting 'em.

True, you can't trade cars anymore.

You can still earn money. It's a slow and painful grind, sure, but then it's always been that way with GT except for people taking advantage of certain prize-bearing events.

UCD's gone, and for the better. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the idea of the UCD, but GT5's implementation of it was horrid.

B-Spec is coming back, Course Maker is coming back better than ever, etc.

Fun's still there. And now you don't have to wait for it to load. ;)

The payouts in GT6 are higher than GT5 if you don't count online. There are plenty of great cars under the Cr 400.000 mark. I have more than 50 cars, Cr 1.000.000 + and have not glitched or bought cars for real money. All this complaining about micro transactions is blown out of proportions.

lol this post should be moved to the Epic Whining and Crying Thread, but with all game forums, theres probably a thread like that for all of them.

So you bought the game for 60 already, and you proclaim you aren't going to pay a dime more. Thats perfectly fine, I don't recall GT5 giving me much free content, as opposed to this game, as with the updates, you arguments lack good support and evidence as of 1.02 now with the massively increased payouts. (3 Free Cars already as of 1.02).

Now I have trouble with what your proclamation of GT5 being 3x the joy of GT6. Although this is your opinion, the way you state it as facts is a bit condescending and forceful. You proclaim the joys of GT5 in a way that makes it as if when GT5 came out it was this juggernaut of perfectionism without faults that would've brought Michelangelo to shame.

Here are the actual facts, GT5 was a mess of a game, when it came out, only with update after update eventually leading to the savior 2.0 spec update was GT5 considered a decently good game. That is not an opinion, PD and almost the entirety of the GTPlanet community went out and said it as such.

You make it as if GT6's entire car catalog should be handed to you on a silver platter free of charge. You are also severely critiquing a game that has already been admitted to having been rushed by Kazunori and PD himself.

I have no issue with you presenting opinions, but when you make these claims without a real basis of facts or evidence to support these opinions, your credibility weakens.

Now, if you haven't sold your game already, I urge you to keep it and wait for more updates to roll in and then make another informed opinion about the game.

No offence mate, but have you actually played GT6? This sounds like a person ranting off due to what they have read, as opposed to what they have experienced. In other words, I disagree with the direction of your argument towards GT6. There may be some valid points lurking in there, but you obscured them.
It is not perfect, but the updates are coming fast.

Edit. Before I was anywhere 'nearly halfway' through the game, before the recent updates adding potentially gazillions of credits, I was well over a million credits. It is much easier now.

Now even the Dirty NAscar ain't good... There are very few online players for GT6.

So there goes that!

I bought the GT6 the first day and on that account I got about 6-8 cars free. in spite of that, I am stuck in International A. I can't buy the cars that I need to enter many of the races to win. I have totaled about 1.5mill Cr so far and I can probably buy one half decent car maybe...then I would be totally broke! I am only entering races with the set of cars that came free, the two cars I got as a gift and then 1 Honda car that we were forced to buy. I am skipping races that needs me to go buy any cars.

So far the gift of cars I have gotten are 1) a decent BMW with one of the time trial (which I loathe... no fun driving all by yourself), and the free Mercedes Benz.

Imagine if I didn't have those free but ugly blue cars (I can't even repaint those) in the beginning?

Still not gonna shell out real $ for cars.

I have no problem with DLC, in GT5 I actually paid for DLCs that came out. They gave us a good set and then as addition they had DLC which I never complained about.

Here in GT6, they took out what was standard in GT5 and then trying to make that into DLC. Thats outrtight rip off.

Why would the winning #1 franchise try to follow the losers (M$) model? I don't get that. Hey look at that loser out there who is behind us....so lets follow their model... Sheesh!

I got the anniversary edition with 20 cars I think and 1 million credits. So I can see the frustration lol. You have to do time trails especially get the silver or go for gold when you have 200% login bonus not before that. I just did bronze and waited for 200% bonus before trying silver, gold :p Unlike GT5 there is no way to redo it to gain more credits.

Also redbull event is nice way to earn lots of creidts and races get over quickly so keep doing it  On new year they will had vettel challenge and that rocket. Hope it is not ridiculous but I reckon lots of credits will be there in that event

Just do the seasonal events they earn you a good amount of credits to get you started. I already got like 3+ mil by doing these.

Why is almost every GT6 review I read on this forum negative?

Because we are spoiled, our generation of gamers are completely mental and extremely demanding. I know because I am part of that generation. When we see a single fault among a mountain of quality content, we will endlessly gripe about it. GT6 has a couple faults so its even worse. Nothing will appease gamers completely now, its just the matter of how much they can appease. Nitpicking is in now for this generation.

I have to be honest and say I have no idea where you are coming from here:

1. You bought the game at release and have only earned 1.5 million credits? Really? I deleted my game save and restarted last Friday and, since then, in about 6 days of playing (about 20 hours or so), I have earned over 12 million credits! The holiday seasonals alone, with the 200% login bonus are worth 6 million (with a further 6 million worth just added).

2. I am currently at IB level in this save and have only bought cars needed for the one make races and Kart races...all other races, bar 3, have been completed with cars given as prizes (such as for getting half and full stars on levels, golding all licence tests etc). I have used anniversary cars for 3 races in total (not counting anniversary seasonals). If you have only gotten 2 gift cars, then you have not even got half stars in any level, nor golded licences, nor golded Goodwood events (or completed the Hudson seasonal).

3. What exactly have they taken out and tried to make into DLC? Yes, they took out B-Spec, course maker but these will be added in a future update (free update, not one you have to pay for)

4. Have you even considered the possibility that PD had nothing to do with the addition of micro-transactions? That Sony forced it on them? If PD were the only reason for the micro-transactions, then why would they introduce an update that increased prize credits? And give 6 seasonals which pay up to 12 million credits?

5. As for your comments in the original post, when the game was released, yes there was content lacking (and still is at present) and, yes, credit awards were low but......through an update, credit awards have been increased, prices of a large number of cars have been reduced and we have high earning seasonals. From what I understand, GT5 suffered the same issues on release (low credit payout etc) yet they fixed that over time with updates. Did you buy GT5 on release? If so, then that kind of negates many of your comments.

6. Finally, back to the micro-transactions...nobody is forcing you to use them!! Grinding for credits is part and parcel of the GT experience. As time goes on, more seasonals will be added allowing more earning potential (the Red Bull Junior Championship at 200% login bonus and all golds earns you well over a million credits for half an hours racing!!). Buy extra credits, don't buy extra credits....your choice. I don't feel I need to buy extra credits via MTs and actually forget they are even in the game most of the time.

7. Sorry, one more point: How are you stuck at IA? In my previous save game (which ran from day after release day till last Friday at average of 3 hours a day), I had completed half of the Super level events, golded everything up to IA level and had almost completed IA level (and I still had half the Goodwood events to go) and I had not struggled to buy any car I needed for an event (including spending 4.5M credits on the Chapparal 2J).

I think I've written enough. I respect that everyone has their own opinion and I respect that opinion but I have problems when an opinion is based on 100% emotion and virtually no facts (especially when a lot of the opinion is based on incorrect information). I would hate for someone yet to buy the game to be put off by someone's opinion when said opinion is factually incorrect.
