As I have always been a fanboy of Skylines I decided to buy one after my license. This was a R33 GTS-t. Shortly after I bought it I wanted to visit the German GP in 2009 and what way is better than to go there in a Skyline? We set off early in the morning, went over the Autobahn with a cruising speed of 160kp/h. When we made a stop at a gas station I joked how Dutch people can't drive for **** on the Autobahn, especially people with caravans. 10 minutes after we continued our trip a Dutch guy with a caravan switched lanes right in front of me without using his indicators and unfortunately I rammed him and the car was totalled.

I decided to not sit out and cry about it and started to look around for a worthy replacement. When I was looking around I decided I wanted to race it on the tracks aswell. I then had to choose what kind of Skyline I wanted. Did I want a R32? Nah, too old. Then I had to choose between an R33 and R34. I figured I wanted RWD, so both GT-R's were no option for me as they would be heavier. Sure you can make them RWD and tune them up to 97329752hp. But around 4-500hp would be enough for me. The choice between the R33 and R34 was made very fast. The R34 has a NEO engine, shorter wheelbase and looks, in my opinion, better.

I got the car in november 2009 and it looked like this:

I still missed the R33 and decided something of the R33 should be put on or in my R34, so I put the wheels of my R33 on the R34 and it looked pretty damn good!

First thing I ordered was a rollcage togheter with a bucket seat and safety belts. After they were in place I gave the car it's trackdebut at Zandvoort during Time Attack.

It was an OK first time, but I wasn't entirely happy about the car. It felt too heavy and the brakes weren't used to braking hard over and over again so I ordered a bigbrake kit from Wilwood and a carbon bootlid + carbon bonnet.

remmen.jpg

The bootlid arrived quickly, but the bonnet took around 5 months(!) to arrive from Japan. Then after it arrived in the Netherlands, the customs decided I had to pay taxes and importing costs over it, so it turned out to be a very expensive mother****er:grumpy:

After a week I came across a sale of two carbon doors, carbon bootlid, carbon big gay way and a carbon front bumper and I bought the whole lot.

Everything was awesome, but I kind of hated the front bumper. It was carbon overlayed and it was very heavy. But because my GT-R bumper was still at the paintshop I decided to drive around with it for some time.

To be straight forward: it was ****. You couldn't drive properly on the roads with it as it was longer at the front and very low. You would hit EVERYTHING on your way.

I basically ruined the entire front bumper because it was too damn low and I wasn't really sure about the looks of it, so I bought a bigger turbo!

mlpco1.jpg

From that point I started collecting parts for a turbo upgrade, but I wanted good and proper parts. Which means you will have to spend way too much money for it. So I waited to collect the stuff second hand.

In the meanwhile I attended a supercar meeting which I somehow was invited for with my car and did some more trackdays, including another round of Time Attack. Where they gave me '112' as a starting number. 112 is the emergency hotline over here, so I decided to turn the car in a police car for the event :D

Two days later I got pulled over by the police and they told me to take the livery off the car. That was quite nasty as I was sick, wanted to refill the car with some gas and head back to bed as it was cold and rainy outside. Two days later I got rid off all decals that were on the car and put on an other bootlid:

I drove around like that for quite a while, but had to attend another trackday, so the bootlid with big gay wing was put on again and I sold the other bootlid.

At that time I also got the task to make a video about something you like for school. It would be my final task of school before graduating the next year after internship at a videoproducing company. I decided I would film the process of creating a racing livery from start to end. I kind of cheated, because I already made a design earlier that year. I was inspired by Raikkonen's DS3 and thought it might look cool:

But before we would put on the wrap, I wanted to get rid of the stock door and replace them with my carbon ones.

Then it was time to get my project done!

I had another dissapointing day... My brakes were completely gone and a vacuumhose died on me, resulting in massive missfires. The brakes were so far gone I could barely brake in qualifying, but as I was placed into the finals I wanted to drive in it aswell. I did one "flying lap" with braking very very early and braking a lot on the enginre. After the event I changed all rubberhoses to silicon ones to prevent it in the future.

Because the driving season was over I thought I'd get rid of the bitumen inside the car to make it lighter. One advice if you plan on doing this: DON'T! It has got to be the most frustrating job on earth. Also added a window visor as it was impossible to block the sun with the flappy things above the window. Darn rollcage...

Because of my length (nearly 2 meters) I put my seat more to the back, but couldn't really get to the steeringwheel properly when I was strapped into my seat. It was time for a deepdish steeringwheel.

(Notice the GT Keychain? :D )

After it was fitted, HICAS started to be a bitch, so I fitted Driftworks' Total HICAS Eliminator Kit to get a smooth drive again. The car felt quite different and much more stable after installing it!

The time for engine tuning has arrived! After more than a year of item collecting I finally had all items I needed! I thought... I collected a 6Boost ceramic coated manifold, TiAL V44 external wastegate + screamer, Garrett GT30 and a FMIC. Then it turned out we needed bigger injectors, an aftermarket fuelpump and an oil catch can. After everything was installed the car got tuned by FC Tuning and the result was 415hp with nice throttle response! It was a shame I couldn't be there that day, but atleast I got a video of it and then recorded my own video later.

After all that work was done a friend and I decided it was time to put togheter a small movie:

I'm still not done with the car, but it's on hold at the moment because it's time to get a job and invest a bit more in my future. Here are some more, random, pics:

Awesome car man! Just Awesome.

Now call Red Bull for some sponsorship money! 👍

That is quite a car you've got there. I am quite jealous. Sorry to read about your R33, the two tone paint looked beautiful.

Thanks guys! It's a shame about the R33 indeed. I liked that car a lot and I still miss it sometimes. I guess that's because it was my first car, but this one is awesome to drive aswell :D

i'm pretty sure that R33 was the first skyline i've seen in real life!

if i remember correctly it had mesh rims first. (a bit like the Grey R33 doing the burnout) it was a two tone so im pretty sure its this car.

lovely R34 btw!:)

Edit: just found out it was another two tone r33. looking quite simular though. always thought it was the same car lol.

That two-tone is, atleast in 2009 it was, the only other OEM two toned R33 GTS-t in the Netherlands. Are you a skylineclub.nl member?

Nice cars, especially a R33 for a first car. Wow.

Just looked at the pics for now, nice livery on the R34.

Will read your story later when I have more time on hand.

Looks cool man. I have to ask, have you thought about making your car in .....Forza4. :D

I normally don't like R33s very much but that one was the bees knees with that two tone. The R34 looks damn fine too

Thanks. I don't really like R33's either, they look like whales in my opinion. But I really loved that R33 because of it's two tone paint.
