I enjoy all of it, but most of all would be collecting 0km cars. Since I like Porsches a lot I have multiple 86 RUF 911s in all different colors. I've found trading to be very enjoyable indeed.

Last night I did a Time Trial on the Monza track in the rain with a convertible Shelby Cobra. I turned off the HUD and changed the view to cockpit. It was very immersive 👍

DFGT + New Car + Race Info Removed + Nordschliefe
so that's at least 3 of us on here...hehe

Race Info Removed feature is one of the best things that's happened for GT5.

If you removed all of the events in the game and only gave me Nordschleife with the rest of the cars, DFGT and Race Info Removed, I'd still say my $60 was well spent. That track is pure joy. I just started seeing what kinds of lap times I can pull with my Ferrari F1's now. Wow...

1) Buy a car that looks good
2)Give it a sexy paint job
3)Stock Everything onit
4)Take to a track you love (For me its the ring or trail mountain)
5)Race a nice few laps trying to beat your best time
6)Repeat No.1

thats what i do! :D

I love taking all manner of machines around Tsukuba and spending at least half an hour getting their lap times right the way down. I love the feeling of spending 5 minutes of getting, say, 55 second laps, then just by braking slightly earlier you somehow get that down to 51 seconds. I'm not a fan of lapping the 'ring unless it's for money because it takes too long, yet I'll happily spend three laps' worth of time at Tsukuba...

Also recently, for some reason, I've been cataloguing my cars, by which I mean going to the second photo travel location (I forget it's name), go to the second camera position, put the car in the first location there, set the focal length to 60mm, turn the car around and take the photo (before the tram comes). I don't know why I've started to do that, it's not like I'm going to do anything with the photos or anything!

Also I spent a night taking showroom-fresh cars around a custom circuit I'd made with no map or HUD, that was fun but also terrifying; it had a very long start/finish straight with a dip, then a sharp climb, then a very short downhill left turn before a steep uphill right hander, that took a lot of crashes to get right. Then halfway through the lap there was a blind crest with a very sharp downhill right hander directly on the crest, so you'd take off and land in the wall. Great fun in an Evo or Impreza, not so much fun in the LF-A.

Now I know many people on here love/hate GT5 for different reasons. For those who enjoy the game, what is the one thing that gives you the most joy when playing?

For me, it's buying a car(especially a premium version) and taking it to the Nurburgring. I make no modifications to the car whatsoever so it's pretty much bone stock and see how it does on the track. What's even more satisfying is when I have a premium car, I turn off all of the data on screen and go into cockpit view to further immerse myself. With my setup, it almost feels like i'm driving the real thing. I then go into Manual H-Pattern mode with my G25(I usually use the paddles to shift) with the clutch to top it off.

After all is said and done, I just sit back and watch my replay. I just love seeing how the stock suspension is trying to cope in the Nurburgring when pushing the car to its maximum.

I could pretty much do this all day without a worry on how i'm so far to level 30 in my ASPEC or how everyone has Gold in all the events, etc. In other words, there's really no obligation for me to finish the game...I friggin love driving.

what about you guys?

👍

I could've posted this, word for word.

I´m like you. I love buying a car, premium of course, turn off any data on screen and drive it stock around Nurburgring. It feels like i´m there. I also have a homemade rig with G25.
That´s the best thing to do after a day at the office. :D

Grinding for hours on end at Indianapolis in either my GT40 or my ZR-1 RM. There's nothing like taking the lead on the first lap on the backstretch and knowing I could probably just close my eyes, mash the accelerator down and still end up first without steering. $28,467 credits/minute and 4400 exp. <sarc>

Honestly, I'm tiring quickly of both A and B spec (29/17 respectively.) I suppose I get a little lift when something interesting pops up in the used dealership, although I find myself purchasing marginal used cars more and more often so I have some sense of accomplishing something. I'm almost to the point where I'll buy a crappy car just to get the paint chip, although that will be pointless after I get 256 of them (Colorful Trophy.) Thankfully I'm still 40 short.

60 gold licenses was kinda fun.

I'll be over a bit of a hump when I hit thirty and I can do the Red Bull/Vettel Challenge.

My buddy's and I are setting up a 355hp weekly league, and frankly, if not for that, not even beautiful sunsets at Lemans/Nurburgring could save this title.

According to the OP, I can only choose one ultimate pleasure. Geez, but there's so many!

If I had to choose just one, it's the moment I finally get home from work to fire up my PS3. It's pretty much the same feeling we all had when we were kids on Christmas morning, just before you go down to open presents. Totally psyched, man!

You can tell I was having fun.

I specially love taking H pattern tranny mounted cars to the Ring to enjoy even more. NSX R, I'm looking at you.

yeah. I just love the minute sound differences when you do H-Pattern as opposed to doing the paddle shifter. It makes a whole world of difference in replay.

Tuning cars simply for the sake of making them faster. I occasionally drive them too, that can be quite nice. But mainly tuning. :D
Edit: Not as in editing downforce, transmission etc, just buying upgrades.

GT5 is all about car collecting, driving in Nurburgring (and Tsukuba because of all those Best Motoring videos I watched in the 90's), and... most of all, the best part, driving ONLINE with your friends.

That's it! They can take A-Spec/B-Spec away and all the other stuff... I really draw no pleasure at all from racing the AI. I prefer to drive alone and enjoy the cars (or, even better, online with my friends).

Ultimate pleasure? Get a nice premium car, apply the same tuning I would in the real world (the usual stuff, air intake, exaust, chassis reinforcement bars and sports tires), and just have fun driving it around.

What would make it even better? Simple:

Give me ONLINE REPLAY that I can watch and comment live with my GT5 friends. What could be better than watching that hot Nur lap we just raced in a group of wonderful 5 or 6 friends and comment / laugh as we watch it? That would be GT5 Heaven!

My greatest pleasure is collecting, comparing and tweaking race cars, slowly progressing towards acceptable driving and control while storming the 'ring.
( at least trying to :ouch:)
I'm hold comarative tests on various tracks, split by power classes ( DTM, GT300, GT500, LMPs-GroupC etc ), trying to improve on all tracks and not only on the 'ring.

After that I usually get online, join some reasonably HP-limitated room,
listen to some guy talking as if he was Kazunori-Nuvolari-meets-Ayrton-Lauda,
watch him as he poorly chooses an awfully underperforming car ...
then just enjoy trying to drive smooth in the slippery online physics and trying to finish frist while keeping clean:dopey:
I usually get ahead of the "talking guy", but far behind any good driver that chooses race cars as i do :dunce:

I also let Flavio ( italian bob ) run for the money while I play guitar/synth/Live/etc, while keeping an eye on UCD in order to collect race cars ... feels a little like slavery ( "Flavio, get on that FGT and get me back some money !!!" ) but it's so necessary racecars prices:scared:

Watching friends use the cockpit/wheel set up I built. I truly enjoy watching them. There is funny moments, to moments when you know they are slipping the line of reality.

As well on that my friend Angie had came over and asked to give it a go. Note she usually gets dizzy watching me game. So I set her up on the Ring with weather change and put her in a Shelby Cobra. Cockpit view. She cruised the course like she was just out on a sunday drive. Then it got a lil dark she was like it look like it could rain, and bam here came the rain. She was just in awe. Pretty awesome experience.

I personally get excited every time I sit down to play.

Same guilty pleasure as the OP and many others in the thread, I love collecting cars and then taking them on the Nurburgring Nordschleife to compare how they drive to other cars...

I even collect all the different years and models of a particular car like the S2000 and Impreza WRX STI, leave them stock and then drive the different models back to back on the Nordschleife to feel the slight difference in the PD physics model year to year or in between the stock and aftermarket tuner versions (Opera, Nismo, Mugen etc.)

BTW excuse the stupid question but what is the "Race Info Removed" reference in some of the posts in this thread? I assume that is not a real GT5 race/feature but could not figure out what it is/was if the posts have been edited and the search feature did not help. It seems like it is a favorite feature of folks so I'm interested to know.

For me its defiantly either getting an underpowered car, tuning it to the max to beat Ferrari's (my 670BHP 300ZX) and taking it for a spin around the ring or Trial Mt. Or getting a car lightly tuning it and do some racing with it in arcade mode, all assists off ABS 1. I just get the best feeling going for a spin in some of these cars

I have the same as you, taking a stock car in Nurburgring is what gives me the most fun in GT5. It is just me, the car and the track. If the car handles well in there then I know how to tune it to my liking, or not at all if it handled pretty well in Nurburgring.

Also watching the video of Kaz driving around the Nurburgring 24 hours race. I feel more attached to it now more than ever. heehe
