I'm just about to start racing the Sim Mode races, and I have 0.0 miles for all cars in my garage, as well as 0.0 miles showing on my Sim Mode/Game Status screen. I've done some testing with my Viper at Super Speedway (SimMode/Beginner/SundayCup and Arcade/Easy) and here's what I found [NTSC Version].
Sim Mode (3 lap race)
Case 1: Enter one Sim Mode race, and exit the race immediately after crossing the finish line.
Result 1: Garage mileage for the Viper was 4.5 mi, Game Status mileage was 7.2 mi.
Case 2: Enter and qualify for one Sim Mode race (2 qualifying laps), and exit the race immediately after crossing the finish line.
Result 2: Garage mileage for the Viper was 4.4 mi, Game Status mileage was 7.1 mi.
Case 3: Enter one Sim Mode race, and let the car run "forever" after crossing the finish line (I lapped all other cars in this race).
Result 3: Garage mileage for the Viper was 5.3 mi, Game Status mileage was 8.4 mi.
Case 4: Enter and qualify for one Sim Mode race (2 qualifying laps), and let the car run "forever" after crossing the finish line (I didn't lap any cars in this race).
Result 4: Garage mileage for the Viper was 6.2 mi, Game Status mileage was 9.9 mi.
Arcade Mode (2 lap race) [NOTE: no qualifying for Arcade Mode/Single Races]
Case 5: Enter one Arcade Mode race, and exit the race immediately after crossing the finish line.
Result 5: Garage mileage for the Viper was 3.0 mi, Game Status mileage was 4.8 mi.
Case 6: Enter one Arcade Mode race, and let the car run "forever" after crossing the finish line.
Result 6: Garage mileage for the Viper was 3.7 mi, Game Status mileage was 5.9 mi.
CONCLUSIONS:
- Qualifying for races in Sim Mode races does not count toward garage nor game status mileage
- Using Sim Mode/Garage vehicles in Arcade Mode races will count toward: completion % (if not already raced); garage and game status mileage; trophies awarded
- Using Sim Mode/Garage vehicles in Arcade Mode races will NOT count toward: wins/races/win ratio
- Stopping a race immediately after crossing the finish line will save miles
- *** Game Status "mileage" is likely to be in km, not mi (1km = .6214mi)
Anyone out there get similar or different? I thought I'd be able to find something on this in this forum, but I couldn't. Forgive me if this has been mentioned before.
Anyway, This will greatly affect the way I do things, as I used to let all cars finish their final laps before I exited (to take record of their times and finishing positions). But if I want to conserve miles (i.e. engine wear), then I think I'll have to reconsider...
Have a great drive everyone!
