After many many hours of testing I have concluded that the N2 (comfort) tires give the closest lap times to the real life lap times. I tested many cars, with all three tires (n1,2,3) at the Tsukuba circuit. I quickly noticed that the N3(street) were too fast, I was lapping over 2 seconds faster than the Best motoring times. N1(economy) tires felt like the cheapest tires you can buy at Straus. *ALthough* the M3 gets very close to its RL times with the N1s. With N2 tires you have to work a little to get close to the RL times. In average it took me at least 3 laps to get with hundreths of the RL times.

Cars used for testing (arcade cars)

R34
M3
S2000
Rx7
EVO MR
Civic type R (EP)
Integra R (dc5)
RX8

I want someone to assist me with some lap times using the N2 tires. I will post my fastest times later on. Lets see how accurate this game is 💡

"Lets see how accurate this game is"

Didn't PD already say that lap times should be within a few percent?

The N2 tires sound pretty cool though for those who want the "as real as it gets" simulation.

It's true that the N2 tires gives the most acurate times compared to Best MOTORing's times, but I prefer N1 tires purely for handling purpouses.

Your assuming that your as a good of a driver as those people who ran the cars in real life. If you want a "as real as it gets" feeling, try getting near those times with the N3's (if its possible). Not sure if its even possible to get those times with N3's, because I don't have GT4.

so.. when the cars were tested in real life, they all used the same tire type? like say.. on best motoring tests? with the default tires, the cars should get the same times they do in real life... but i guess gt4 aint that realistic. :indiff:

"so.. when the cars were tested in real life, they all used the same tire type"

I'll put a dollar on the table for every car that ISN'T Running a Yokohama A048 or Bridgestone (RE-1?) on a Best Motoring Video. I bet at the end of the video the pile is very very small :)

my pt exactly :P... Are those tires closest to real life times even with super high performance cars? (+400HP)

In the one days I have had the game I've also found N2 to be very close to the kind of tires semi performance cars come with factory fitted, very close.....

N1 are exactly just like the cheap $100 tires you by for your family car, the ones that last 60,000+ ks, Olympic sprinter, the cheap Bridgestones like RE-92 these kind of tires. The tires I run on my real car are Bridgestone G Grid and are at least as sticky as N2. The one my brother runs on his V8 Commodore are similar but maybe even more sticky, perhaps N2 and half : )

I would think a very high performance car like a Zonda or something like that would come from the factory with N3 : ), but Commdores, Monaros anything in the 300-400 hp range that is based on a family car then N2. Original muscle cars tires from the 70's are worse than N1 so N1 is as close as you will get on those cars

Edit, to sum it up it's like this, Cheap little 4 cylinder cars come from the factory with N1, Performance sedans come with N2 and high end sports cars (Ferrari type things) come with N3, in the shops the cheapy tires for family cars are N1, add between 50 to 100% to the price and you are in N2 territory, above that price are N3

From my understanding Best Motoring test the cars with STOCK factory tires unless specified e.g when they race tuned machines. I think thats how PD modeled the tire physics. N2s represent the tire the car leaves the factory with regardless if its a "little 4 cylinder" or a turbo charged IL6. Like someone said N1s are the cheap spare tires.

To SUM it up.......N2s represent the FACTORY fitted tires, whether its the Cheap durable tires the ACCORD v6 comes with or the nice high performance tires a Zonda comes with. N2s simply represent the real life tires the vehicle comes with.

Nicefrog run the Zonda on tsukuba with N3s i guarantee you will destroy its R/L time by at least 3 seconds.

Hiroke- you use N1s for driving purposes? what do you mean? are you trying see what it feels like to cheap tires on your nice sport car?

lets compare some of our lap times with N2s on tsukuba. I would also like to do Laguna but i dont know where i can get lap times for stock cars.

Wouldn't PD (or any company) say whatever they have to in order to make sales?

IAG is putting such claims to the test which I think is a great idea. Good work on determining which tires are the most true-to-life IAG. I would love to help but I don't drive anywhere near well enough. Put me in a 100% accurate true to life simulation (or a real car for that matter) and I won't even be close to the times of a professional race car driver. If I was that good then I'd be out racing!

Thats a good observation and testing. But really...
can you really think its close to real because due to your skill level you think you'd really match up to a pro driver? Maybe N1 is close to RL and you just need more practice to come closer to the real life times.

thats what i was thinking breaker... :indiff:

are the Quarter mile times at least the same with n2 tires? or N1? thats another way to check

S2 feels more like what most sports car offer as factory tires nowadays.

u need to know, most of the cars have tires that are pretty much near the performance of S-Tire.

Such as the A046 found on the EVO and RE070 found on STI, NSX-R.

Im dont even own a car, i know how to drive manual but theres soo much more into driving a car to its fullest potential. I know the proper line to getting a fast lap that track but put me in a real car and its different. I cant even HEEL-TOE :grumpy: and theres always the fear of pushing hard and crashing. i know that if i push hard and go wide on the final right hander that i can just start over.

ok, lets do something. Fact Best motoring ran the Rx8 at Laguna and lapped 1:50:XX with factory tires(unless someone who knows diff can correct me).

With N2s i ran consistent low 1:46:xxx with room for improvement. Now this goes against my theory that N2s are the most accurate in lap times. Took me 4 laps with N1s to lap in the 1:50s. Maybe breaker is right and its my driving that i have to improve? But then again I remember running a test on tsukuba with X car and N1s and i could not get near the RL lap time. I do however remember that i RAN 38 laps trying to get within a second at least. I tried different lines, breaking points, late apex, early....but nada. I think it was the EP type R....
Help me out guys...... We need to determine which tire PD designated as the "True Driving Experience" tire......

OK.....just ran a quick test, RSX type R/tsukuba N1s out of 15 laps my best was 1'12.688. BEST motoring ran 1:08:04. thats a 5 second DIFFERENCE. On the other hand i just lapped 1:10.754 with N2s after 10 laps (**** second gear just tooo much power). someone do this exact test to compare results.

And by the way, that rx8 laptime of 1:50 is nothing big i just saw some Rx8 forum who had a track meet or something at laguna and stock Rx8s were running 1:46:xxx on some street tires.

u need to know ppl in BM are not pushing the car at the limit and also the track is not in "perfect condition" at all times like in GT

Yes and Laguna Seca is a much harder track fear-wise to get the best lap time out of than Tsukuba. Laguna Seca is fast.

Tsukuba Circuit-N3s time attack

RSX-R 1.08.879 BM: 1.08.04

R34 Vspec 1.04.701 BM: 1.04.57

Supra RZ 1.05.364 BM: 1.06.XXX

Civic R (EP) 1.09.232 BM: 1.08.98

RX8 1.06.511 BM:???? i think i remember seeing a 1.07.xxx somewhere

M3'04 343hp 1.04.511 BM:???

Laps completed for each car 5.

hmm very interesting.......these N3s...speechless.

By that I mean i derive the most pleasure by using the N1's. I can drive using clean lines round the track, or get oversteer on command a lot easier, should I want to. The thing is, from what I have seen on Best MOTORing, they can drift a standard car on standard rubber until the car runs out of petrol, and this is just impossible on N2's, whereas is is possible using N1's. Maybe i'm just a crap driver.

Man, its an racing game shut up and tune your car as high as yo can, where the hell you think all these options are for? nobody cares wich is the most rl, we want the best!

Peopl just want to try to find the closest match they can, that's all. It is, after all, called a real driving simulator.

They just want what they want from the game, same as you do. You can't tell them to shut up just because they're interested in something different than you. :indiff:

But seroiusly, that guy's post looked like he was almost gonna cry. :(

U guys are all talking about the most near RL tires, but don´t forget a questiou: How good do you drive to compare to Best Motoring or another magazine´s time? U can make a dirty lap or an insane lap, and the difference between these two are huge. So take this in consideration. Just going to the real track in real life, and driving the same car at the same conditions would give u a precise time comparison.

U can have a brief idea on games. If it´s this what some are wanting to have, so it´s ok. But precise comparison does not exist while u are not driving the same car at real life.

Don´t forget it´s a racing simulator, not real life.

That is very true.

To the driver who tested.

Did u put tire damage on? i think any of the n tires will get damaged quickly from an approx 8 min track, maybe then you can compare with best motoring times since their tires get damaged too.

Like i said I am taking correct lines and even trying different ones. Hiroke i see what you mean about powering over at will. most cars that power over in n1s, will power over in n2s eg. R34, M3/5. But yes i agree using anything above N2s is too grippy, very hard to power over the m5.

Dart your post obviously did not contribute nothing the topic of this thread. Am I obssessed with this feature of "realistic laptimes"? yes i think i HIGHLY am. and from what i can see your into highly tunning your cars, good for you.

usually BM runs 3 lap battles or 5 lap battles. They never show the actual "time attack" they do. Im sure they take warm up laps to heat the tires then do a couple of laps.

And Taneras, I said that same thing in the 3rd post of this thead
