Wow. I wonder if EA get back the WRC license or will Milestone get it? I know it is still early but wow. I guess we have to see how things play out. I do think we will see more game companies scale back on the scale of their 3A games. Gameplay and story should be the main goals not picture perfect graphics
 
I had a worring thought recently.

Maybe I am panicking a bit, but it feels like there are less and less game studios focused on racing games.

First was sony closong evolution studios amd studio liverpool

EA getting their hands on Codemasters, which endded up as F1 studio only scraping all great brands they made from rally games, grid etc

Then EA pulled the plug from Need For Speed franchise

Then Turn 10 bearly exist now with Forza Motorsport on hold

Now Nancon is also close to being shut down

Srill we don’t know how Straight 4 will recover after PmR fiasco amd Rennsport devs after their game fail

Those who remained and for now are pretty safe are Polyphony, Playground games, ivory tower, kunos, reiza, iracing team, raceroom team and milestone. That is worrying i think…
 
Nacon never did themselves any favours with their PR and attitude towards their customers that’s for sure. But we need dedicated racing game studios, or else what are we actually going to talk about on here? The weather? Hopefully they survive this.

On steam, most of the titles are 75 - 90% off, if you're looking for a time to pickup the WRC games or something, now's the time.
 


Surprised that they are still doing this, considering the ongoing financial issues (one of their studios got liquidated last week). From the brief teaser it looks like Endurance Motorsport Series is in this show, but no idea if it'll be anything new.

At this point it'll feel more like a catalog of IPs they're going to have up for sale.

So in other words, the game is effectively in maintenance mode now and there won't be any new content beyond what's already been finished ahead of time.
 


KT Racing/Kylotonn being reduced to 1/4 of staff. The new Endurance game being shipped and then very quickly dumped of support. Only maintenance team remaining for TDUSC (so not much chance of new updates like the forever-promised houses).

Translation:
The Kylotonn layoff plan was presented to the studio yesterday:

  • 84 positions eliminated (out of 122)
  • Unilateral redundancy plan without union negotiations
  • "Getting rid of Endurance Motorsport as quickly as possible"
  • Only a team dedicated to maintaining TDU Solar Crown will remain.

Also, the article quoted, slight language warning, but it makes for, revelatory reading, to put it bluntly.
 
Welp, that's TDU completely dead, then.
 
All this strife in the gaming industry makes me think that the issue is bigger than gaming itself. I honestly think people are tapped-out attention wise. Where video games might have occupied leisure/down time in the past, that reserve is now filled to the brim with constant short-form video and other social media content & feeds. Entertainment is pretty much at maximum capacity at this point and with that much competition, practically anything that isn't massively popular just falls into the void.
 
And here I saw TDU SC on sale for $12 or so on Xbox, thinking it might be a good deal to play after FH6. But, if the game's basically on maintenance mode, there's no point.
 
I had a feel Endurance Series wouldn't last. For one, no news at all even though it was supposed to be released last year. The constant "Coming Soon" announcement on PS store with no new trailers, info, etc. Kylotonn's insolvency issue all lead to the inevitable conclusion.
Just wonder if they'll bother doing an offline patch for TDU SC or just unilaterally pull the plug. I think they at least owe it to the player base.

That is not the right translation. What it says is "Launch Endurance Motorsport as soon as possible".
