Nascar at the dlc track

Just took one of my Nascars around Spa and it was a lot of fun, I pulled off a 2:23.xxx lap time with racing hard tires on.

Try racing soft tires and let me know what you get.

This track has been brilliant with the time I've spent with my NASCAR machines. This track if packed full of smooth sweepers and corners, BUT the only time were aggressive throttle control gets the best of the NASCAR cars are on the very tight corners before and after the start/finish line.

No doubt, a very enjoyable track to race NASCAR on.

2:07.2 on Racing Softs after 3 laps this morning (first chance i've had to play last few days!), 2:05.xx is probably possible, I was a little scruffy in braking zones and lost time in a few places. These cars are even faster than I thought, they can take eau rouge at 170mph, shows how unrealistic these cars are in GT5, still good fun to drive though. The immense power combined with the high grip soft tyres make them crazy fast around Spa. I was driving the 2010 Dale.E.Jr car.

Spa with the Nascars is good fun, but in one of my regular rooms last night we did a dirty nascars run on Kart Space 2 - Insanely fun, bent panel carnage!

I have been doing quite a few races with some fellow GTPers on Spa in the Nascars (dead stock, even racing hards). It is fantastic fun and the cars are well suited to it, maybe not as easy as some of the other "aero" racers but thats much of the fun.

If you can get into the 2'06.xxx range (online) with untuned Nascars on racing hards you are doing very well. (personal best with tyre wear is 2'06.515, no cutting).

I'd like to see a video of that. Not saying it didn't happen, I'd just like to see a video of it, thats all. Also, was this online or offline. Looking forward to seeing that video of your times.

I don't have any way to video it, It was done offline, I can replicate the time online most likely. The time isnt really that fast to be warrenting "proof". The fast guys on this site will get 2:04-2:05 on racing softs. I'm always around 2 seconds slower than the fastest.

Well, if anyone could post a video of them type of times, I'd surely like to see it. Also, never said I needed ?proof?, just like to use the video as a learning tool of sorts as I am new to this whole road course thing. Maybe you should actually read what I write instead of trying to impress everyone and start stuff with me all the time. I see your my sons age so your immaturity doesn't surprise me.

Just for the record Nascar at the other DLC track (Kart Space) isn't quite as successful.

 This 👍

I just popped on and ran 2 laps, Racing Soft tyres and the gearbox set to 199mph - The engine is fully worked in. Apparently it needs an oil change, its sitting at 850bhp.

The 2 laps were, 2:06.9 and 2:07.6. The laptimes were far from perfect, in my 2:07 lap I was slower in T1 and the final chicane but faster everywhere between T7 and the chicane. I still think a 2:05 is possible, with a crazy enough driver maybe a 2:04.

Taken with my phone, that is the best I can give you, I have the replay saved but unless there is a way I can send it over PSN you won't be able to watch it.

That thought NEVER even crossed my mind, lol. To me, that track should only be used for what it was made for...carts. Taking anything else there, besides the very low hp cars, is just moronic. Example, heard of people taking the X2010 Red Bull cars there. I am at a loss of words on that one.

Cool bro. Like I said before, it wasn't a case of me not believing you, just want to see a video of a fast lap time like that so I can use it like a type of learning tool. The photos are nice and all, but really do nothing for me. I'm sure with enough track time, I'll get there myself. So, unless you have some tips for me, no further proof is needed. Thanks for giving me a time to shoot for though. I'm a man on a mission now, lol.
EDIT: Hey BAZZ anyway you can put that video on youtube.

I just realised it was a 2'06's I did with racing hards (online, untuned, no draft), not 2'16... A fellow GTPer I was racing with also did a 2'06.6xx. It took a fair bit of practice to hit though.

Only way I could do it would include needing to film it with my phone, find and install some video converter/compressor software? Then move it to my computer and then make a youtube account and upload it to the account. That is a lot of effort to just put a video of a "not bad" lap on the internet.

If there was a way to do it direct from the playstation, even if it could be exported to an external harddrive then i'd do it, but not for phone quality pictures lol. I'm sure somebody will come along soon and go faster anyway.

Edit : to the above, you didnt do that on racing hards, i'm usually around 1.5-2s slower than the fastest times, and I did my time on RS tyres, RH tyres are a good 5+ seconds slower than RS tyres. What you're saying would be impossible even if you were the fastest in the world.

A lot of the time is found in S1, and on RH you lose a massive ammount of time by having to be slower on throttle out of T1 and then by not going flat out through EAU rouge, resulting in losing time all the way down the straight. You would likely be 2+ seconds slower in just the 1st sector on hards.

Wow, looks like I got some work to do. Well, I'm going to put this out there for any future readers of this thread. If someone could post a video of a lap time of sub 2:08.xxx, that would me appreciated. Again, NOT LOOKING FOR PROOF OF SAID LAP TIME JUST WANT TO USE IT AS A LEARNING TOOL AS I AM NEW TO ROAD COURSE RACING. Thanks.

Heck, I do want proof if someone is claiming 2:06 on RH tyres in a Stock (no setup? you can't buy upgrades for it anyway) NASCAR Sprint car, I don't believe its possible due to EAU Rouge.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing BAZZ, but again, who am I to judge, I'm just a rookie at this. That guy should fly with a good setup and racing softs uh.

I'm with BAZZ on this one, video or it didn't happen. I'm not that damn gullable.

So this promted me to watch over my replay. If you had said RS tyres, i'd believe you entirely, I can see about 1-2 seconds extra time in my replay, but on RH your cornering speeds are just too low, i'm afraid it isnt possible, not without using SFR for the extra grip (which would be cheating, technically).

If you can't prove otherwise, I would gladly prove it in an online lounge.

I don't expect you to believe me, but my reputation at GTP is far from poor (I was a div 1 WRS driver in GT4 and GT5P username GTP_VIPERGTSR01, but haven't bothered with WRS in GT5). I don't have video recording equipment I'm sorry but I can take a pic like bazz did above or save a replay file and export it, however that means I will have to do it again (not easy..) but I will if you guys really want, let me know.

Yes it was RH tyres untuned online lounge opened by Jackington (who did a 2'06.6xx himself), Small_Fryz (who is a very well known WRS driver) was also in the room, ask either of them if you wish.

Otherwise don't believe me, I don't care. :)

EDIT

Oh as for untuned, oil change and car wash is allowed by GT5 room restrictions but no other adjustments, car was the 2011 Red Bull Camry and Jacks car was the 2011 Denny Hamlin Chev (which got a 2'06.6xx).

What setting preferred for laps at spa with what tires hard or soft racing tires ? and restriction I know there is no upgrading for NASCAR cars. I plan run hot laps later on at spa with NASCAR car. I just want to see how much different laps are with the DS3 and Wheel. Maybe we can post our hot lap time on this thread ? Let me know what settings with tires etc so I just can be fair and compare to yours ?

I've been driving the 2010 car, so I can't compare. But I will say, the Racing Hards work out about 5-6s slower from my testing just now. The 2011 car must be way faster than the 2010 car (i've not driven the 2011 cars), because the 2010 car will not go that fast on racing hards, its not a matter about skill, the car won't go that fast. I just did another 2:06.8 with an oil change, and I did a few laps, each time I nailed a certain sector while averaging in the late 2:06.x to 2:07. (sector one in 33.2 I remember) - I'm pushing the softs hard, the hard tyres are nearly 20mph slower at the top of eau rouge, such a claim would be folly.

I would gladly join an online lounge to see this feat. But first now I must buy a 2011 car, sigh..

I actually used the 2010 Red Bull car for a little while before switching and breaking into the 2'06's, I got a 2'07.1xx with the 2010 car but I did get more comfortable (read: a lot of laps..) with the track after using the 2011, I believe there is a 2'06 in the 2010 car aswell.

I would join a lounge with you if you wish, can't at the moment because it is 3:21am friday night here and I have to go to bed. throw me a PSN invite (VIPERGTS01) and we can figure about a time later, for now, bed. :)

EDIT oh also because tyre wear and fuel consumption was on, the laps were with different fuel levels, IIRC I was 16 litres down on fuel after the first tyre change (left the fuel as is) then pit exit lap before I hit 2'06.xxx on the fast lap.

So i've tested the 2011 car, no difference in performance worth nothing (if any at all). Until I see you do those laps on hard tyres i'm going to assume that you did the times on softs. Everything points to softs, i'm not a slow driver either and I usually know where I stand in regards to the fastest. I've just ran a load of laps and very fast sector times (though not full laps) on both tyres and come to the conclusion, you could only have done the lap on softs!

I'l add you to psn and perhaps join you on track tomorrow night ;).

You know what, I was just about to go to bed and now I think it may have been 2'16.515 as I originally posted, It's just when I saw posts of 2'06's with RS's I thought I couldn't be 10 seconds slower (they were cracker laps though on slighty worn tyres) I feel a little stupid now, will have to try it again in GT5 tommorrow to confirm. Have a shot with RH's and see how it goes for you. If I am mistaken (I think am) then I am sorry for the confusion.

Add me to PSN anyway if you wish :)

Hey BAZZ, keep udated on this. I would really like to know the outcome as I am very skeptical of this myself. Thanks bro. Going to do some more practice laps at Spa now. Hopefully I can knock some more time off. Later.

I will add you on PSN - Racing Hards resulted in a few 2:13-2:14 laps and a few trips into the wall on the way to what I personally think could be at best 2:11 on those tyres (though it would take a better driver than me), I will give it a go tomorrow on a fresh brain, too much time on the Racing Softs has spoiled my driving for today, but the hards just simply lose too much speed through the high speed sections so the loss is massive (20mph through eau rouge) compared to the softs, not to mention how hard and early you can get on the throttle with the soft compared to the hard.

For online racing on Racing Hards - 2:16.xxx is exactly what I would expect, it makes sense. Don't forget i'm running in offline mode, they do seem to be a little different, with online being slower and a 2:16 on hards is a good laptime, words cannot explain how much of a massive speed difference there is in corners with the softs, its huge.

Try racing soft tires and let me know what you get.

I'd rather not:p, they grip way to much and takes away from the fun of driving the car.. At least in my opinion. I'm pretty sure I can go faster on racing hards compared to my previous lap time if I really push it.

Just spent like 4hrs. at Spa with my KB NASCAR car tuning it. Started my setup over from scratch and at the end of the session I got a best lap of 2:11.572 with constant 2:12's. Now, before anyone criticizes me, thats a hugh improvement for me considering I have a VERY limited amount of experience on road courses. My goal is to get it down to the 2:05 range. That may sound impossible for someone like me who has only been turning left for the most part, but it will get done, watch me. If anyone would like the tune that I have so far, just say so. I didn't post it cause its far from done, but the above lap time is achievable with. Now, I'm off for some left turns for the night, lol. Anyone that wants to do some Daytona sprints, I'll have a room open. Clean lines and good times.
