Hello people, I'm looking for 15 people to join me to race at Daytona Speedway this Sunday. The race length will either be 100 or 200 laps, this will be decided via the poll. People who are commited to this event, I don't want people dropping out half way through the race. I'll update this post in the next 24 hours, the rules for this event. If your interested then let me know in this thread and feel free to ask any questions.

Rules:
I will open the room at 19:00 GMT for questions
Free run will start at 19:30 GMT then the race will be followed at 20:00 GMT
Grid will be set via Free run prior to race
Honesty is a must for this event if it is going to be a success.
Pace car Chevrolet Camaro SS (White) (GTPlanet userTommyWizard)
Not only TommyWizard is the pace car, but he will be the steward for the race aswell, so we have to be honest and respect him. For example, double file restart will be like real life. Also if someone spins out, TommyWizard will say caution out or pace car out, we slow down like real life. The driver or drivers involved in the caution will have to make a mandatory pit stop.
Don't worry this has been all tested out, but if anyone who hasnt then tomorrow is the last chance for Sunday.
Laps 100
Anyone invited
Do not take out other oppenents intentionally
Do not drive backwards at anytime
If 1 lap or more down, do not intentionally spin out to cause a caution. This will not be tolerated. People can get the lucky dog rule, that is the first person a lap down can get back onto the lead lap. (TommyWizard) will say the drivers name or type the drivers name in the chat log.
In Free run prior to race test bump drafting if you want
Bump drafting allowed obviously, however be careful through the corners due to the unbelievable slipstream
Start Type (Video at the bottom) - Double file restart behind pace car at all times, at the start of the race we will have 1 warm up lap behind pace car. Pace car will pull off onto light grey tarmac just before the pits. Thats where the pace car will be postioned most race and will keep an eye on the track map.
The leader has the choice on the restart whether to start on the inside or outside. He has to make his decision and when he does, the rest of the grid will be formed.
For example, P1 inside - P2 outside
P3 behind P1 - P4 behind P2
So basically it will be odd numbers one side and the other side even numbers.
Also in the double file restart you have to hold your position, you can only overtake after the start/finish line. No jump starting.
When making a pit stop make sure you brake down to 50 mph
When making a pit stop, coming out of the last turn make sure you be on the inside.
Overtaking below the yellow line is not allowed and under caution aswell. ( So when the caution is out/pace car you slow down and stay in your position, no overtaking.
Boost - No
Penalty - None
Grip Reduction - Real
Tyre Restrictions - Racing Hard (Front & Rear)
NO - Skid Recovery Force
NO - Active Steering
NO - ASM
NO - TCS
Driving line OFF
The chat log can be used during race if people want to communicate with eachother. Because everytime someone sends a message it will pop in the chat log on the bottom left hand side. This obviously can be used during caution laps or even during the pit stops. Headset can be used aswell if anyone has got one, would be really handy.

You might want to edit by adding the time and timezone for the event Fuzzy. I see you are in the UK.

If I can make it, I will. what is 7:30 Greenwich? Is that 12am here?

Hell yeah! A GMT one! Count me in for this :D

I should be racing in Denny Hamlins FedEx #11 later tonight, fingers crossed :D

Are we allowed to tune / modify the cars or totally stock?

I believe you should be five hours behind current UK time. So the time where you are should have just gone past 12:00 PM, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the interest. This event is on Sunday evening here in the UK and NASCAR's will be stock no tuning allowed.

Oh CLICK!

Are you going to go for full blown rules? Like cautions and such. Because, I know as of right now, with the Pad I wouldn't really stand a chance, but lol, I have the Pace Car Skyline, and I'm quite familiar with the rules (Lucky Dog, Wave around etc.) So maybe you'd want someone like myself to keep watch and then come out for caution laps to add some realism. (Assuming this will be done in free run since you cant go over 99 laps [IIRC])

Your call mate, dont want to be seen hijacking but I think the realism would be a nice touch to the race.

Hmm I like it, I was thinking about this last few days aswell. Tell you what, we'll discuss this through PM.

The World Clock – Time Zone Converter – results
At the specified time, local time in Miami is 5 hours behind London

Location Local time Time zone
London (U.K. - England) Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 7:30:00 PM UTC GMT
Miami (U.S.A. - Florida) Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:30:00 PM UTC-5 hours EST
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 19:30:00

That is doable for me. I think a 100 lap race will be best, since you don't know what kind of quality you will get from the competitors.

Nice, that's why I created a event here on GTPlanet. I hope that everyone who joins will be registered on here. Obviously it didnt help that official rules are not in, but we can find a way round it and hopefully all people who enter can co-operate. 👍

I don't have the internet at the moment, but should have it sometime in the next couple weeks. Sorry I can't join just yet.

Edit: Plus that is in the middle of a work day. I wouldn't be home anyway.

No worries, if this event is a success then I will do it more often.

You can barrow my rules set from SCANA. http://gt5-scana.net/rules

Hope it helps.

This sounds fun but I don't think I can commit the time.

Me and GTPlanet user TommyWizard will be testing out a few things either today or tomorrow. If anyone wants to join let me know because we'll be going through a few rules regarding the pace car.

Looks great Fuzzy but sorry I can't make this one because of previous holiday commitments - good luck and I look forward to the next one. 👍

@ SkylineR88, we can check the fastest laps during practice, 2 minutes will get a grid sorted out. Less if we dont have the full 15 (If im in the pace car, I'll have no need)

But keep checking back, as Fuzzy said him and I will jump on (hopefully) tonight and get a few thnigs sorted, feel free to add either of us and tag along if you wish!

what is the rule who determines who starts in first place ?

Free run just before the race will set the grid up.

Add me please , i've already been in a 100 lap nascar race a few days ago with some american guys , so i know i can do it.

Thats good to hear, you've tasted what it's like but I hope that you know some of NASCAR rules. Don't worry if you dont I'll let you know what specific rules we are using.

Ta for the Reply i'll make a Point of Reading Everything 👍

add me for this too. PSN: JoeOfTheFire

I'm doing some NASCAR practice online already, and i think ive found my preferred pitting strategy 👍

Just one thing: are we using our own cars or the ones the game puts in the online garage? I ask because my own one has 31hp more than the 2 that the games gives you online, so we should really be limited to only using the 2 online ones.
