Nascar Pain!!!!!!

Spent about an hour trying to win the 1st race but no matter how well I drive and how much effort I put into avoiding being spun out by the AI cars I've not done better than 6th.

The Nascar events in Gt6 just seem like a broken unfair mess to me. Anyone got some helpful tips for these events or should I just wait for PD to patch them?

Don't forget the oil change which will give you a HP boost! After the 70% limiter you will be stronger than the competition.

I did the high speed ring about 15 times, getting more and more angry each time..... Then i realised i could put the limiter up to 100%!:banghead::lol:

Funny thing is i won Willow Springs on 70%

lol...makes 2 of us. Willow Springs took a couple of tries at 70% but managed it thanks to the number of corners. I guess HSR doesn't have enough corners to get the advantage....it's quite simple once you put the power back to 100%! It certainly explained why I kept going backwards and losing ground

@bigburt82: Didn't know that still worked AND I didn't know that I could put the limiter back up to 100% for those two races, Doh!

Still, wasn't too bad overall - only the High Speed Ring caused any real frustration, but I upped the downforce a bit from default, set the transmission at 199mph and passed the first placed drone on the second to last corner.

Anyone idea how to
Win on the high speed ring -_-

I had no issue at all winning at the HSR. Had a big leap ahead of #2.
Just break late, go smooth though corners and get a proper exit speed.
Also make sure they don't draft on your back....(stay off the default driving line)
If I remember I'd put the transmission to 340km/h...

Daytona left for me...those crazy drivers kick me off the track all the time.

And I also use lower downforce in straighter tracks to make it faster and higher downforce for curvy tracks to make it stick to the track when turning.
I decided to try that stupid Daytona track again... Lap 5 they got me spun and guess what I flipped about 18 times in the air lmfao......

I just managed to complete the Daytona!

Bye bye NASCAR, gonna sell the car from my garage 👍

I consider myself as a midfield, average driver and i golded these first time.

having more problems with the karts

Easy wins using stock Dale E. 2010 car.
No tuning other than lowering power limiter to meet Oval's PP requirements.

...

High Speed Ring: First & last turns, stay below when following.
I used a wheel, no driving aids/0 ABS.

Won HSR with stock Kyle Busch 2013 car.

Be careful on first turn, especially when there's traffic in front of you, decreasing your down force. If you're too fast in the first turn, try slowing down by using brakes while keeping gaz on the floor. Even better, slow down in the first part of the turn, where you can do it safely.

It's easy to pass opponents on all corners except this one. Using a wheel, no driving aids, TCS OFF, ABS 1, manual transmission. The engine's max power is at very high RPM, so enter the red line slightly before shifting. Setting Active steering to hard helps surviving first turn and doesn't seem to cause trouble elsewhere, but I just won the race without it.

Good luck,

Yves

I'm just going to get this outa the way. The stock cars that are in the game are the ones that are used on the mile and a half tracks. not the superspeedways. Just sayin'...

I had a fun race in the NASCAR, leading by staying low and set up for faster, speed, but was bumped, spun 360 but moving forward right after the SF line, then caught up, passed all AI and pipped in for the win in last lap.

Always pass on the left side, never on the right no matter how inviting it looks.

Do you have any solid proof of this or are you just shooting from the hip. The cars in the game are neither mile and a half track or superspeedway cars.....its all in how you set up the car that determines this, nothing else.

This is the car as in game...

Cars in real life on a mile to a mile and a half tracks...

Notice the spoilers.
Cars as they should be when in Daytona...

The spoilers that they run at Daytona and Talladega are not only narrower, but also shorter.

Alright then, can't really argue with that visual evidence 👍 but I still stand by what I say in that its all in how you set up the car. If you're running at Daytona, you can always lower the downforce to mimic what you have pictured and vice versa. Thanks for taking the time to explain yourself though, much appreciated.

If it helps to set up the cars better, or set them up at all from stock, then it's not off topic.

I too put in some hours on this when I first tried it. And then a took some time off and read what I could about how others succeeded. Then I tried again and was finally able to win. Staying low and holding off on drafting past the lead vehicle until the last lap.

If I remember correctly there were a few other standard movements I was seeing from the AI that I used to assist my drafting. Each time I'd race I'd remember more of what the other cars around me were doing and apply that to my next run. Like a puzzle being put together piece by piece starting from scratch with each piece.

Anyone who loves driving the Nascars on road circuits - and why wouldn't you love driving a big, heavy, over-powered car - I've been running a series for these (and the Plymouth XNR) on Sundays 17:00 - 19:00 BST - four rounds left. Short clip from an earlier round below:
