This just keeps getting more and more interesting.

Apparently there is some bitter feelings between Harvick & RCR.

I could see SHR going to 4 cars, just as long as the sponsorship is there.
Stewart-Office Depot/Old Spice
Newman-U.S. Army/Bass Pro Shops(BPS is already an associate for the team)
Kahne- Budweiser
Harvick-???

Maybe Harvick could get one of his sponsors from his NW or Truck teams? Rheem would seem most likely if that ever happened since they are the most frequent on his NW car.

Maybe Reeses could sponsor Harvick. IIRC they have sponsored him in NW and Cup before. Possibly in the trucks too.

These guessing games are fun and I can't wait to see the results.

Maybe Camping World could hop on, they've been in all three of Nascar top divisions on various cars and have been a prominent sponsor on Harvick's teams the past few years.

Earnhardt in a Wrangler Jeans sponsored number three at Daytona come July?

Hopefully so, he seemed so driven after his fathers death, he could barely be touched at the plate tracks. Hopefully he can relight that fire behind the wheel of the three. Either way, the fans will be excited. I halfway am.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The NASCAR rumor mill was on fire again Thursday, as foxsports.com and ESPN.com reported Dale Earnhardt Jr. will race in July's Nationwide Series race here in his late father's famed No. 3.

Daytona International Speedway officials did not comment on the report, nor did Earnhardt Jr.'s team, JR Motorsports, but ESPN.com reported a news conference will be April 29 to unveil the No. 3 car, which will not be Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s trademark black.

Instead, according to the foxsports.com report, the car will wear the colors of sponsor Wrangler, which adorned Earnhardt Sr.'s blue-and-yellow No. 3 from the last race of 1980 through the 1987 season. The No. 3 was painted black and sponsored by GM Goodwrench from 1988 until 2006.

Like his father did, Earnhardt Jr. has a contract with the denim jeans maker and has done several television ads for the company.

As a tribute to his father, Earnhardt Jr. raced a No. 3 Nationwide Series car twice in 2002, winning the season opener at Daytona and finishing 36th at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

That car was owned by Richard Childress Racing. The No. 3 Earnhardt Jr. will run in the Subway Jalapeno 250 on July 2 at DIS is from the Hendrick Motorsports fleet.

Earnhardt Sr. raced Richard Childress' No. 3 car in the NASCAR Cup Series from 1984 until his death on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. The pair won six Cup championships together, and the No. 3 has not been used in a Sprint Cup race since Earnhardt's death nearly a decade ago.

Childress is becoming more comfortable seeing the No. 3 on the track. This season, grandson Austin Dillon is racing the black No. 3 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, sitting 12th in points after four races.

If Earnhardt does drive the No. 3 Wrangler Chevrolet at Daytona, credit JR Motorsports for boosting ticket sales at the racetrack once again.

In February, JR Motorsports fielded a Nationwide Series car for IndyCar Series regular Danica Patrick. It was Patrick's debut run in NASCAR and generated all sorts of interest from every type of media.

Earnhardt may have a chance to test the No. 3 on May 18-19 at DIS when NASCAR holds a two-day Nationwide Series test over the 2.5-mile tri-oval.

Oh gosh, are you serious? I just cannot take this article seriously until I actually see it for myself.

I think it will make for better closer racing. Though it will be weird to see the cars going through the turns at night, not throwing off sparks and bouncing around. I can't really imagine it being glass smooth like Talladega, but I suppose that's just how it's going to be. Maybe the ragged edge excitement of cars sliding around and into one another will be gone for a while, but the cars being able to run inches apart and keep their bumpers mated together through the turns could make up for it.

Daytona resurfacing to follow July race

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Daytona International Speedway, the subject of much scrutiny after a hole between Turns 1 and 2 caused more than 2½ hours in delays during the Daytona 500, will be repaved shortly after the July 3 Sprint Cup race.

Track president Robin Braig said the decision was made two weeks ago after a study from International Speedway Corp. engineers in conjunction with Lane Construction was completed.

It will be first repaving for the 52-year-old track since 1978.

"We just can't risk it,'' Braig said of another incident like this year's 500 in which Bondo was used to patch the hole. "We owe it to NASCAR and our television partners. We can't risk it again.'' Gee... How about us fans? oh wait...

Braig, who said the project would cost around $20 million, made it clear the surface will not be a risk for the July weekend, saying studies found no other areas on the track were at risk of coming up. He added the steel reinforced patch on the 9-by-18-inch hole that was more than 3 inches deep is more than sufficient.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., who called for the track to be repaved several years ago, applauded Daytona for moving forward with the project.

"The old surface was a lot of fun,'' Earnhardt said on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. "[But] it's kind of getting past its prime. As soon as we get a new surface down and get weather on it the quicker we'll get to a track everybody wants.''

Many drivers were opposed to repaving after the 500, saying it would ruin the style of racing they have become accustomed to on the rough surface. They feared a new smooth surface would turn Daytona into more of a Talladega race where handling isn't much of an issue.

Earnhardt and Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray believe handling will remain a factor with the characteristics of the Daytona banking differing from that of Talladega. They also believe there will be more three-wide racing for longer periods because tires won't wear as fast.

Both agreed there is no need to change the configuration.

"They just need to put a new coat of paint on it and it'll be pretty cool,'' Earnhardt said. "I don't think there is anything you can do to that track to improve it. It would kind of be foolish to fool with it.''

A temporary asphalt facility similar to the one built at Talladega when it was resurfaced several years ago will be constructed behind the back straightaway before the July race so pavement can begin immediately.

Lane Construction, which repaved Darlington, Talladega and Richmond, has been contracted for the job. The process is expected to take several months and be ready to turn over to Goodyear for tire tests before the end of the year.

Goodyear's Stu Grant expects to hold a tire test with 14 to 17 teams, similar to those held at Indianapolis. He said there is a possibility the test will be open to all teams.

Braig said fans who renew their Daytona 500 tickets will receive a piece of the old surface.

"This is a historic moment for NASCAR's most storied track,'' Braig said.

I want a piece of the old surface to go with my lug nut off of Jr's 2001 Pepsi 400 winning car. :dopey:

Also, I'd like to add, these spoilers that Nascar supplies are much better looking that the teams own spoilers. Seeing the adjusters back on them, they just look correct.

And just to finish it all off...

Tomorrow is the second Nascar double header in as many weeks, 811.XX miles in total. They should make an endurance championship and have some of these events regularly. I think it's pretty cool. Nationwide race kicks off just after the end of the Sprint Cup race, and both tickets are good for either event.

Thanks for revealing that info, now you will be chased down :trouble:

Yeah I did notice that and agree that it looks better with the braces back on, but I'm wondering why they wait until now to have them.

Man, those were the best races all season and thankfully, thats two cup plate races without a wreck at the end. Great diving by the winners:tup:

Best race at Talladega in a few years, the combo of the spoiler and decklid fin kinda made drafting like it was with the old school big cars, guys could really get a big run and if they got enough speed, they could sling shot.

Well well, take a look at this BS

Speedtv.com
After a tumultuous five-month period where was he arrested after a street racing incident which resulted in charges for both driving under the influence and possessing narcotics, GRAND-AM Rolex Series competitor J.C. France had his court case dropped earlier this week and has been fully reinstated by the series.

France, the son of NASCAR vice chairman Jim France, had his case thrown out on a technicality, as first reported by Godwin Kelley of the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

With questions over the arresting officer's jurisdictional limitations (France was pulled over by the Daytona Beach police in the town of Holly Hill), Judge Patrick Kennedy dropped the charges against France.

After completing a series-mandated rehabilitation program and undergoing continual drug testing, France's competition license was reissued earlier in the week.

"He addressed the legal issues that were outstanding, based on the fact those issues were resolved, and successfully completing the program administered by Dr. David Black, we made a decision to reinstate him," Kevin Hindson, GRAND-AM's VP of Marketing and Communications, told the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

"[France] was extremely cooperative," Hindson continued. "He did everything we asked him to do. We didn't have any pushback and that meant a lot to us as far as him getting reinstated."
No announcements have been made regarding France's timeline for a return to the Rolex Series

And to think Jr gets so much unnecessary flack for his last name:grumpy:👎

Yeah, if it was anyone else they would probably have been suspended for at least a year.

I was very pleased with the 'Dega race, I think the drivers having more room helped a lot. Although I think Johnson may be the next to get the "Keselowski" treatment.

I find it extremely funny that Jeff Gordon is pissed at Johnson, mainly because he partly owns that team. It's cool though, nice to have a little rivalry going there.

And the end of the Nationwide race with the car in the catch fence was pretty spectacular. Glad to see everyone was ok there.

It's official, the new Nationwide Impala is UGLY!!!!!

Oh and Jr is going to drive the 3.

Yeah it's the worst of the 4. The Challengers look so badass from the front and probably the best overall. I'm wondering the the Discount Tire Livery for BK will change because it's designed to follow the curves of the current car...

Whoever came up with the idea to run that hideous disaster badged "Impala" and not the Camero needs to be kidnapped, shanked afew times, doused with alcohol and set ablaze then tossed into Lake placid.

Umm....wow.

After seeing the Nationwide COT, I realized that it looks almost identical with the Cup car (with spoiler) except for the different front end for the different makes.

I extend my congratulations to (the Heath Calhoun 400 at Richmond winner). It would be cool if I had a very cool race named after me. Up next is Darlington under the lights. Should be a great one.

I'm watching the NASCAR Trucks race at Kansas (because a rain-delayed race at Kansas with NASCAR Trucks is somehow more important than MotoGP at Jerez). The race wrapped up with ?????? ?????? (to avoid spoiling the race) winning the race. But with about 13 or 6 laps to go, the #33 truck tapped #13 on the left rear at about Turn 3, and both trucks managed to avoid wrecking or spinning out. All the while, the two looked like they were drifting. Another funny thing about it... both were 1st and 2nd at the time, and REMAINED 1st and 2nd! Great finish!

If you ever get to see video highlights of these two trucks getting sideways and avoiding wrecking, you got to see it. It was impressive that these two avoided wrecking.

Go KB, Glad to see 'Rowdy' in the winners circle again. Hope he can keep it up! He seems to me like one of the only ones who can take it to Johnson.
