I don't know if anyone has had this experiece, but when I suped up the SHELBY COBRA it was AWFUL! It only had 4 gears and did 247 km/h. I was gutted :( because the cobra is one of my alltime favourite cars.
Has this happened to anyone else, or was it something I did wrong.

Well you learn something new everyday! it is a nice car, just not fast enough in the game.

is it true that the AC COBRA left a 12 mile skid mark or a 7 mile.
(its a long story)

I've never heard about that, but you'd have to have some majorly worn out tires to make a skid mark like that. and imagine the road ... what road have you seen that is 12 miles STRAIT.

It was supposed to happen on one of those long roads in the states. this lad who lives near me is completely mad on the AC cobra. he is a well known exaggerator and is well know for it.
anyway, he told me one day about 2 years ago that the AC cobra held the world record for the longest skid (7-12 miles long).

At this time i never had access to a PC and he told me the web site that this *information* was on. I can't remember what website it was on but it shows the full length of the skid mark and it certainly proved to me that the cobra did actually make this skid mark.

The car was doin about 250-300mph and to go 12 miles skidding the brake pads were completely worn down and so were the tyres.

Anyway i'll find out what the site is for you guys.

daz :)

One thing I do know that the Cobra held (maybe still holds... not sure where I'd look for info on this now) was the record for was the 0-100-0mph test.

Yeah i dont know where that 12 miles strait is, but a top fuel dragster cant even do that. But as far as the car goes in the game i think its great.

And after the 7 mile long skid mark, they drove it to the moon. I think the person that told you that was on crrraaaakkkkkkk.
But hey anything is possible. Actually a 7 mile long skid mark would be awsome. :spin:

I was going to point that out. And any car that takes 7 miles to stop ... I'm not getting anywhere near.

Also, a McLaren F1 peaks around 220. It has an extremely powerful V12 in it. I love the Shelby Cobra, but there is no way it could do more than 180mph.

I think this thread needs to be forgotten ...

Actually the Mclaren peaks at about 241mph (theres a video on the net of it doing this) and it also holds the record for fastest 0-100-0 time, it's something like 11.5 seconds

It is impossible for that to have ever happened here on earth. The only possible way a car over 600kg with regular tires could have slid more 7 miles is if it was on a fricionless surface (and in that case it would never stop). I worked out the math for the skid length using info I could find on the net and it definetly was less then 2miles. If this car was on ice and it had unlimited bhp it could manage that kind of skid. Just think of how long 7 miles is.
Even with a friction coefictient(sp) of .2 (almost no friction) the car will slip less then a mile.
Basically, your friend was exagerating a whole ****ing lot.

Argue if you will, but the McLaren F1 is the greatest car ever built. So far it will out handle out accellerate, and looks better then most. 😈

And for another completely off topic post:

Google's Image Search is really cool!

Ok ok loud music i was just going off the deep end because of the info sliped gave and i just love that car, :reallyodd

Tune it up a little bit, and you'll be able to go 205+ mph. That and you'd have 5 or 6 gears. :easter: :cheeburga

I've tried tellin' this to my friend over and over but he won't listen.I don't think this 12 mile skid is possible either. :)

The Cobra is kinda tough to handle unless ya love to drift. As for the 7mi burnout. Your tires would catch on fire i believe.

It is true, the McLaren did beat the 0-100-0 time of the Cobra.
But remember, when the Cobra set that record it was 1963!
can you imagine what it could do with modern tires!
Back then it was running on Bias-plys(They don't even make tires like that anymore)

That and the Mclaren is a 6 speed and the cobra is 4 speed....The mclaren would be easier to stop ;)
