National A Kart Race 3 = Frozen PS3

Been playing the game a bit this afternoon and enjoying it. Just got up to the third kart race and the game freezes as it's loading up the menu where you press to start race... never had an issue with my PS3 before. Its not overheating. I have the launch day patch. Anyone else having a problem here too?

Tried to do the race 3 times now with a freeze each time. File system restore takes forever when rebooting the PS3 lol.

EDIT: Damn it. It's the Kart series in National B. Sorry.

Loaded the game up for the fourth or fifth time and went and did another event then came back to it and it worked, no freeze. Nfi what's up with that.
 
Just had this happen to me also strangely enough, i wonder if it worked pre-patch or not though? hmm..

I'm getting the exact same thing, I've even completed a few other races and then tried to go back but no dice. Kind of irritating to see it happen over and over again. Seems to crash right after the flag animation crosses over the screen and as soon as you see the track it just freezes up.
 
Freezes here too as described above.

Maybe I've found a solution to this.

GT6 installs data on your HDD as you play. So it installs Kart Space II when you load this race, unless it was already installed because you loaded a different race on that track.

I thought maybe the crash happens because of an error during the install of the track in this particular race

So I went on a free run with my kart junior on Kart Space II to make sure the track was installed.

Then I loaded up National B Kart Race 3 and I didn't have the crash anymore.

However, I wasn't very scientific about this. I did a lot of things between my last crash and this 'fix' and of course any of those things might have fixed my problem. Nevertheless, I think it is worth a try.

Let me know if it works!



Step by step:

- Get in a kart
- Choose Free Run from your garage menu
- Select Kart Space II as the track
- Start a Free Run (I am not sure if this is needed, but it takes only a few seconds :) )
- Exit Free Run
- Load National B Kart Race 3

(I did a free run on both Kart Space tracks just to be sure…)
 
Well my system keeps freezing when I try to do any International B race, after I've done quite a few of them. To make matters worse, when I tried to check my garage, it froze me too.. I don't want to lose my C7!!
 
I left it for a while, did a goodwood trial and the 90's Japanese and tried it again. No freezing, loaded no problems.

Yep, my game froze in the same place. I hard to hard boot my PS3. Tried it again, it froze again.. another hard boot. Went and did other things in the game and came back later and it worked. I won't be re-playing that series of races! :lol:
 
What an annoying bug! I'm now on my second restart and restore. I've already played on Kart Space II in Arcade Mode (several times and in 2-player split screen as well), so it should already have been installed. Weird bug. Guess I'll just skip and come back later.

In case anyone is collecting and reviewing the data:
2008 Fat PS3 80GB (Upgraded to 320GB since 2009)

Sits upright in an open space with no airflow restrictions. ;)
 
I used to have plenty of freezes too but the first patch seems to have fixed the issue for me.
 
Have you cleared your cache?
 
Mine is freezing on the Bathurst Night race in the National A series. It's happened twice now.

This problem keeps happening to me but in the Autumn Ring Mini race as opposed to the Kart Space race. I raced on Autumn Ring Mini before so I have no clue why this keeps happening.

Off topic:
I love that race 👍 and its beauty (thank their stars), it is the best from the AI yet (they're so stubborn, defensive, and just plain mean to my little, stock Renault Clio '11); I wish the other races were like that.:cheers::cheers::cheers:


On topic:
This is the buggiest GT release that I've ever played (small bugs galore), but this Kart Race 3 is the only one that has frozen my PS3. 1/4 of the time that I drive Mt. Panorama, my race begins with the engine sound nearly muted and that of the wind, amplified greatly. Things become proper eventually, but it makes shifting a visual art. :crazy:
 
This race still doesn't work for me. I can use the Kart Space II in arcade mode, but if I try to bring up that race in career mode it just crashes my PS3. I honestly haven't had much time to put into this game yet so I haven't gotten far in career mode yet so I may just restart from scratch. I'd hate to restart and this issue ends up getting fixed with a patch but I'd also hate to not restart and I can never finish that race. Hmmmm.


Update: I went into the options menu and deleted all installed files and now it works. So this must be a situation where there was a corrupted install when the game tried to install it the first time.

Yes! Thanks for the tip, it worked like a charm! My game was also freezing on this race. The "load the track on free run" didn't work. But this was spot on! :cheers:
 
Every single time it freezes for me on Race 3 (Gran Turismo Arena). Haven't actually tried Race 1 (Autumn Ring), but I had no problems with race 2. First found out a few days ago. Went back today to see if things just sorted their self out, but nope! Same old issue. Also on a bit of an unrelated note, right after I restarted my PS3 after the freeze, it froze again shortly after getting to the XMB. All I did was move the menu once and it froze. :yuck:

I think the corrupted file theory is plausible though. Guess I'll have to deal with reinstalling updates again. As long as it fixes this freezing issue I'll be happy.
 
Same issue on kart tracks. Driving me insane, my ps3 has to go through a safe reboot each time. Sort it out GT! Patch patch patch

This.. only event that will eventually keep me from having all the stars. Just need the Silverstone 10 lap challenge and that glitched Kart event..
 
I haven't saw any problems with any of the kart races, I have had the game freeze twice once in test drive mode where I selected Tsukuba but the game went to Monza, I backed out and tried again and it froze on me. The other time I went into split screen by mistake and when I backed out it froze on me.

I have completed all the career, goodwood and one make races and the only issue I have saw in any of them was on one occasion the goodwood event had my car moving before the 3,2,1 countdown completed giving me basically a 3 second headstart on the time needed but of course I put it off the track by the hay bales and blew it ;)

I just deleted the game files (not the save files). Re installed the game and all is beautiful in the world again. Kart tracks loading ( i still suck at them though it didn't fix that ).

I've always been afraid of that sort of thing. Deleting files and what not. Afraid of deleting the wrong thing, and losing everything I worked for :lol: I should do it though, thanks.

Just make sure you do it from the right place.

The game data utility will allow you to delete the game files and not the saved game data

The Saved Data Utility gives you access to the save game files which is where your game progress is stored. If you delete these then it is liked you never played.

Yeah ive gotta admit that I was panicking a little waiting for the game to reinstall. However i knew that with my OCD Gran Tursimo history i would have found it more annoying not being able to gold every race because of a glitch than redoing the whole thing. To be honest the only challenging part of the game are the kart races so far anyway. Without wanting to sound too elitist its by far the easiest GT yet. But thats a rant for a different forum i guess
 
Backup your save. Delete all game data. Reinstall it.

Should work.
