All i know is I don't know of 1 other game that gives me free, new gameplay (in this case events), every week. Yes, the game is imperfect, and has some strange decisions around it, but, at the core no other racing game touches it at least on console. Its already improved greatly since day 1.

Was this just due to the fact that anybody could buy a save from Ebay with all cars and maximum money though. I think transferring cars was intended to be possible but was canned because of this, and duping could have a similar effect on transferring cars from GT5 to GT6.

So what though? I didn't use a save file for GT5P. Why should I care that some other guy who doesn't even know what a steering wheel is starts GT5 with the F2007?

PD thought that I would prefer to lose a feature that was promised to me just so that they keep someone else from so called cheating? Maybe if PD asked for my opinion, they would realize that they were doing something in a rather unintelligent manner.

There's a massive disconnect between the game makers and the game players.

Not exactly encouraging...

Destinkeys is right on.

I don't think anyone should, and this was the point I was making in the other (locked) thread, but I think PD do, and that's why we lost that feature, and why duping could jeopardise this feature being introduced in future.

Well if that is the case, I'd say that the problem is PD, not duping or save file copying. PD should see duping not as something that is a threat their game, but as an indication of what they need to do to their game. People don't want to go through years of grinding to get cars. They would rather drive.

From where I sit, the obvious reaction from PD [barring talking to fans because they seem dedicated to not asking what people want] would be to make cars more accessible in GT6. If PD decides to be foolish and add more restriction in GT6, people should either let the game die for failing to meet quality expectations or find some other exploit to make it work.

Sorry if you're misunderstanding me, but that was the exact point I'm trying to make.

Personally I think PD could fairly easily open up Arcade Mode to allow access to all cars, tracks etc, and even have a separate online mode within it, this would then enable anybody to race any car they want online against anybody else in the same mode, while separating it from the GT Life mode, and could finally put a stop to all the whinging.

To the person who said some people don't use ps3 online? Maybe in 2007,this is 2011 90-95% of ps3 owners would have access to the internet, the cost alone of a ps3 would indicate they have access to the internet or could do if they chose.

Not to drag this off topic, but getting back to this for a moment, I can't find much outside of this: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/study-ps3-has-highest-percentage-of-online-systems-in-u-s/

According to this April 2010 report, 78% of PS3 owners and 73% of Xbox360 owners in the US have their consoles connected online. Although the report does not sound particularly scientific as it only polled people who were already broadband users. I'm guessing the actual number is even less.

Online connectivity for all console users is definitely the direction we're headed. And I've always had mine connected. But we're not there yet. I can tell you, I personally know a lot of parents who own game consoles (mainly for their kids) and have not enabled online access because they don't want their kids playing games online. And about a year ago, I borrowed a PS3 from a co-worker for the weekend so I could set up a LAN with a friend who was visiting. I told him I would create a new user and then delete it after I was done and he looked a bit confused. It was my turn to be confused when I tuned on his console and stared at a very unfamiliar looking XMB. He had never done a single update from when the machine was new.

But when this first hit home was when I was a beta tester for supercar challenge and the developer made some comments about how games were designed and what Sony's requirements were for retail games since such a 'high percentage' of users aren't connected online and aren't privy to updates.

Believe me, there are millions of PS3s out there that have never seen an ethernet cable or a wireless network.

Have you seen where the seasonal event tab is? There was clearly a space set aside for them, yes under tremendous pressure to get out before christmas but don't underestimate him, he understand's people want longevity + Variety in a game ( have you ever played a gt game before ?) why do people not have faith that future races and events will be added online.
Why would he want to give EVERYTHING all at once, every seasonal event, gt drivers clubs, new events etc all at start? So people can grind it 24/7 then complain because there is no more events? No instead we get new seasonal events every fortnight and soon to be weekly, i personally love that new events pop up and force you to drive cars you otherwise wouldn't.

Love the western persons need for having everything and every event kaz has conceived in his head, every update, every add on, all the possible free DLC they have to have it right now. People just can't be happy playing the game, and enjoying the new events and updates when they come along to keep the game fresh and new.

Why don't we have as many A-spec as GT4 ? Because we have the ability to add online events now so he obviously wants to take the series to the more online side of things, updating and adding events later. If you have a PS3 then you have broadband, if not you stole your PS3 so no-one complain about " Not everyone has the internet" lol. That one is old.

Kaz may have all of these extras planned, but, how long is it going to be before we see them.
GT5 was originally pencilled in for 2009, if I remember right, and kept getting shunted back because there was something not finished.
Then when it finally gets released, in my opinion, it still feels like a half-arsed job. I have the same opinion as quite a lot of people on here seem to have, not enough A-spec, no save on enduro races, no proper challenges like the missions from GT4, B-spec a complete waste of time (BOB isn't just a novice driver, he's a novice human being) etc etc.....
We've now had the seasonal events for 6 weeks with Kaz saying he would hopefully be producing updates every month.
To be honest, if his previous deadlines are anything to go by, I'm expecting an update about June time, by which time, all of the casual gamers will have gotten bored and moved on to something else, and, will probably never buy another GT game again.

There was a poll up here a couple of weeks ago (I think) that basically had only 25% of respondents saying they would CARE if B-Spec were dropped completely...

One point. The population of gtplanet members is probably a bad sampling of all the users out there. I would think those that voted on the poll tend to be more hardcore sim racers than the percentage of the actual GT5 player base.
