Not all game saves can be transferred to a new User, be aware of that before deleting your old account.
Good point, all though I suspect this is for only a very few number of games.
I know of the 20 PS3 BD games and 25 PSN games that I own, I believe the only one that has User Locked game saves is
F1CE. I have not tested all of my games for this, but as I have over 15 different User Accounts, I have copied quite a few game saves for when I have created a new ID for a specific game, and for guest accounts who don't have time to unlock everything in a game while they are visiting.
I have heard that
Godfather: Don's Edition also has User Locked game saves, as does Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
However, there are already over 150 games out for the PS3, so I suspect it's pretty rare for a game save to be locked to a specific user ID.
I wonder if anyone has posted a complete list of such games on the internet? It would be useful to know. 👍
That's the price to pay when changing your PSN ID. I honestly don't think it's worth it, rebuilding your friends list, saves, etc, just to add a few letters, but that's me.
There are so many benefits though by doing this... not simply changing, but adding ,multiple User Accounts.
For instance, in the case of the OP, just like fellow GT5P racers with GTP_ ID's, I created that ID so that all the people on that ID's friend's list are not only associated specifically with GT5P, but also with GTPlanet. This way, when I'm playing GT5P and want fellow GTP racers to know I'm online and looking for a race, they can see me, and PM me, and vice versa.
If you only use one ID for all games, you not only limit yourself to the number of people you can have on your Friends List (50), but while playing one game, you'll likely get alerts and even PMs from users who may only play a different game - and not the game you are currently playing.
This is why I have made it a point to create specific user accounts for specific games, or specific groups of games. In fact, currently I have 9 personal PSN User Accounts, 3 more for my wife and children, and 4 more for relatives and repeat guests.
Thus I not only have the ability to have hundreds of people on my friend's list, but that I can manage them far better by associating them to specific user accounts that are tied into specific groups of games that we share interest in.
If you have created multiple accounts for the different PSN regions in order to get exclusive content from those specific regions, you might as well use them to your advantage as far as expanding your friends lists.
In addition, it only takes a few seconds to switch from one user account to another, thus if you are worried about having too many friends split up over multiple accounts, you can fairly quickly scan all your friends list to see whos on, and send them a PM to invite them to a game.
Frankly, the ability to have multiple user accounts
(as well as accounts in other regions of the world) at no cost is one of the best features about online play with the PS3 versus Xbox Live, and yet I'm surprised how few people take advantage of it, or even realize they can set something like that up.
