I have great experience with all generations of Logitech mice over the years.
Currently i'm using a R.A.T. Cyborg, which is a great mouse with a lot of modding options, but quite expensive.
IMO the Logitech G9x would be great for you, in case you are lefty the you should go for a Razor mouse.
Don't forget, most likely you also have to replace your mousepad for a new generation laser mouse.

Yeah, when my G7 dies (~8 years strong for the first mouse, this other one atleast 4 years, no dramas), or I get bored of it, have too much money to know what to do with (that'll be the day right? haha), I'd love to get a Razor 7/9 - They have rechargable batteries don't they? I remember being obsessed with them for almost a month before I found another G27 - are the batteries swappable? What's the story there, would you mind telling us your experiences with them please?

@Seismica, your mousepad should be fine for a laser mouse, i use also a Razer pad but not the exact same model. I prefer hard mouse pads.
For the RAT mouse, i'm using the RAT 7, which is great with a lot of options, but because of the full metal body a little heavy at times.
The mouse has the advantage that you can adjust it to a huge spread from side to side as well as front to back which is great for big hands.
On the other hand the Gseries from Logitech feels much faster.
Both of them are great and actually i have both connected at the same time, jumping back and forth depending on the game ;)
Reliability wise i never had a failed mouse from Logitech in the last years, but i also never used a mouse longer then a year.

@Conza, i don't really have experience with Razer except the pads.
But if you mean the G7 from Logitech, the batteries can be swapped, you can order them on Amazon.

I'm right handed so no problem there. Someone suggested that the G9x would be too small as I tend to grip the mouse with my palm, not the 'claw' grip which I know is also quite popular. A RAT mouse would be good if I find a good price, but at the same pricepoint as a G500, A RAT 5 doesn't seem to have anything going for it.

The G9x is quite small and not good with a palm grip. Sold mine because my hand was dying trying to find a comfortable way to hold it for extended gaming periods.

Thanks, but you completely missed the question, I know the G7 has swappable batteries, as I said, I've owned two of them.

Does the Razor have swappable batteries? Didn't you just say you own a Cyborg7 or something?

I have a Mad catz RAT 9 and I'm verry happy about it. It's basically the wireless model of the RAT 7, the awesome thing with it, it's that it has 2 battery that you can change, so you dont ever need to recharge your mouse. I really like it, there's 4 dpi settings, a aim button (basicaly slow your cursor down when you press it for headshot etc..). I love the design but apparently that depends on people. You can also play pretty far from your base which is nice, worked a lot better than Microsoft mouse for me. You can custom pretty much everything on the mouse, there's 3 profiles etc..

I'm really really pleased with it. Here's the link :

RAT 9 Mouse

The RAT 9 is basically the same as the 7 only wireless and with my 7 i'm very happy.
Only the price was a little draw back and you have to get used to the higher weight compared to other mice.

@Conza, Sry i was a little confused by the "Razer". Your question regarding the MC RAT 9 was already answered above ;)

Yeah my bad, gotchya, that was what I meant, I keep thinking cyborg because of the logo of the sort of, rip off borg as their logo :)
