Hello guys i am looking to buy the Logitech DFGT for Ps3 and PC gaming and i would like to ask some questions. Is the wheel good for drifting?i know there is no clutch or handbrake but i will figure something out but i heard from some people that the wheel rotation is slow and that makes it very hard to drift is that true or it will be ok with practice? Also is the wheel supported from most PC games? And final question is about the pedals.Do thet stick to the ground well or they are like the pedals from cheap wheels that you push them away while you drive?

Thats it any info is much appreciated :)

I don't know about how quickly you can countersteer but if it's like the DFP, with PC software you can set the lock to 240 degrees instead of 900 (I don't know if you can set the same in GT5/6, though). It works with any PC game or sim worth playing with a wheel, and the pedals have small, crappy rubber feet on the bottom as well as small, crappy carpet spikes that don't really do much to provide friction. At least that was my experience with the DFP and is still my experience even with the G27 pedals. I guess if you have a fluffier carpet than mine you might be ok...? If you're on tiles, lino or laminate or whatever else, you'll need to attach them to something you can tuck under or wrap around some chair or table legs or something.

Thanks for the info so overall is it a good wheel from your experience?

I've tried drifting with my DFGT, and it's tough, but it's possible. I'm just not very good at it :P It's possible to turn the wheel quick enough, just put the Force Feedback settings to 1. It still may be hard for some though, so I guess that really depends on the player. I try not to be too rough with the wheel, so I don't go crazy with the steering :P

I can't answer the PC question because I'm not a PC gamer, so i haven't tried my DFGT out there. It works on the PS2, though.

The pedal base thing has these spikes to the front that you can flip out and they grip onto the carpet. In my experience, they held their spot well, no trouble there. I've heard some people put a sponge or something in the brake pedal part so it's not so sensitive, but I don't do that.

Do you want to focus more on the drifting or the racing? Because, in my opinion, the DFGT is a pretty good wheel, does its job well :)

I will be doing both racing and drifting but drifting is what i will spend ages on xD

I've only used one for about 10 minutes (I used to own the DFP on which it is based, and I currently own the G27 which it almost shares a transmission with (i.e. the helical gears between feedback motor and wheel shaft)), but it is the very best wheel you can buy at the price, no doubt about that. It's quiet, has a lot of buttons, a nice wheel, the pedals are improved (but still aren't great) over the DFP's and yeah, if I hadn't had the budget to buy a G27 when I was looking to replace my DFP I'd definitely have a DFGT instead. Some people even say the DFGT is better than the G27, but I don't know if those people know you can set the G27's lock on the fly by pressing some buttons on the shifter, it's an undocumented trick but it's really, really useful and I'd rather have that than the potentially slightly better-feeling feedback (I'm still convinced that's a placebo effect) some people say the DFGT has.

Drifting with 900 degrees is pretty tough, in fact drifting with a wheel when you're used to using a pad is bloody difficult, I still haven't done those drift events in GT6 even though I was, well, I'd say 'competent' at drifting with a pad in GT5, and that's even with reducing the lock setting.

Anyway, the PC software is identical to the G27, that's how I know it'll work with pretty much anything. It's a popular (though now discontinued) wheel, I'm sure games will support it for a good few years yet.

I spend most of my time racing, I wish I could get into the drifting scene again lol. You mean drifting in GT6 right? Also, here's my post from a few weeks back, it's all about taking care of various wheels, if you do end up buying one :D

Right now the games that work with the wheel i have are GT5,Shift2,Undercover,LFS,Dirt showdown,Race 07 and GT legends so i have a good amount of games to play but i will get GT6 eventually :D

So looks like next month im getting the wheel xD.I only used it a couple of times on a gaming store with GT6 and i have to say it was a great experience and similar to a real car.The bad thing was that i couldnt try drifting because other people had spent all the money on the game and on the garage there wasnt any RWD car lol.

I have another question.I want to place the DFGT on my desk in front on my 21 inch monitor...will the wheel be too big and i wont be able to see on my screen while driving?

I think you'll be able to see over the wheel, it isn't very big or anything. When I used my 22-inch TV, I didn't have trouble with the wheel latched onto my cabinet. Thing is, I don't mount the wheel in any way others would really call conventional: I have a small room and when I first got the wheel, I had to play with my body twisted to the side for me to be able to use the pedals correctly XD But I'm also a pretty short guy and didn't have trouble looking over, so I don't think you have to worry about that :)

Also, the clamps come with these detachable cube-like things that help latch onto thinner mounts. I had no idea they were detachable for a while, so I wanted to add that bit of info just in case!
