Has anyone noticed is its needed to be done in the appropriate cars? I'm using a Logitech Momo so it might be automatically doing it for me, but I do it all the time in rfactor with this wheel, but ya I haven't felt a need to do it thus far in GT, has anyone felt it was needed?

GT automatically blips the throttle on sequential stick and paddles.
When using a 6-speed shifter, Hell-and-toe does help.

I've had my G25 for some time now but am new to the heel-and-toe method because, quite frankly, it's kind of an awkward motion for me to do. Regardless, I've been practicing it lately, but how do I check to see if I'm doing it correctly or not?

Step 1: Step on brakes
Step 2: Hit clutch and begin to shift
Step 3: Blip throttle with right foot while continuing to brake and while continuing to shift
Step 4: Complete the shift and release the clutch.

Blip: means tapping the throttle to bring the RPM up to keep a smooth transition.

So again: Brake, Clutch in, Blip, Clutch out

To check if you are doing it right: If you can shift down quickly with heel-toe, then you are probably doing it right.

There's two different methods. One is where the name comes from, and the other is quite different but works for some people.

I can't heel toe to save my life because my ankle just doesn't bend like that. But I can do the other style, which uses each side of your foot. Your foot remains vertical like normal, you just move it so the left side of your foot is on the brake and the right side is on the gas, then you just rotate your foot one way or the other.

Still called heel toe, but doesn't really involve the heel or toe. It involves the ball.

More like this. You just roll the foot over instead of rotating it.

Hard to find video of because for some reason most race car drivers do the other heel toe method.

I find this method much easier than the other. I think the pedals on the G27 are in the wrong place to do the other type without rotating your ankle way too far (at least for me).

in GT5 i heel and toe because I'm used to doing it, but I'm pretty sure it is completely unnecessary as it blips the throttle for you. When I play iRacing, I have to do it or sometimes I end up spinning out. That never happens in GT, so If you're not confortabe doing it, don't do it.

If you dont do heel & toe when braking in a RWD car, you got more chance for the rear to break loose.
Also, with my G27 and with GT5, when I press the clutch, the car stall :ouch:

Not if you left foot brake properly.

Here is a movie of a guy using heel and toe on a fully modded G25
I think on a standard G25 the brake and throtle are a bit far apart or is this just me?

No offense but the guy in that S2K video sure is making a lot of adjustments. Anywho, I've played GT5 with the DFGT, the one with the red circle and as well as the G25. I only use the paddle shifter and the game pretty much does the whole "heel & toe" process for you.

I think you can still do it if you want. I just chose to do left foot braking.

If you like heel toe and your G25 is out of warranty then I would recommend taking out your pedals from there box and mounting them on a piece of wood as this way you can set the pedal distance and levelness of the pedals to just how you like it.
And it also helps to keep your pots clean as its easy to get in there with a hover or something and give it a clean.

On comfort tires you'll need to adjust the sliding I guess.

An Heel toe is only needed when You use the clutch.

Heel and toe is necesarry with my G25. Otherwise the clutch kick can send you locking the rear wheels and into a spin/drift...

Yes it's true, but a quick swap from clutch to throtlle (pedals only), turn the clutch you put on the throttle upside down, and you conquered 10 cm's..
I combined that with some washers inbetween the brake pedal and now it goes perfectly.

Do you have a picture of that?
