What is with the AI in this game, they purposely try to wreck you. As soon as you get hit you spin out and everyone runs into your car so you lose the race. Why are they so aggressive? Does anyone know if that is a setting you can turn down? It is just ridiculous.

It's not all bad. The AI can be very smart (allowing room for an overtake, won't slam into you when you brake for a corner, etc), from what I witnessed. Although, I will agree that half of the time, they are extremely idiotic. Exactly opposite from what I said in the parentheses. The game's new, give it time. They'll patch it soon enough, either improving it or screwing it up more. :)

I can't say that I've been purposefully rammed by the AI yet. When I do spin, I'm occasionally hit by the AI as I spin across the track, but only if I'm spinning through the pack, ie a situation where there is very little chance to avoid my car.

They only times I've been hit by the AI is when I brake way too early for a corner when they are right on my bumper or when I change lines mid-corner and at that point it's really my fault.

I have seen the AI get a bit over zealous in a corner and end up crashing themselves out though, which is sweet.

The only time the AI's made contact w/ me was when I'd slowed way too much some some of the tighter corners or, on rare occasion, when I'd already hit them earlier in the race. Otherwise, they're on their best behavior.

I hate them..no I really like them. When I first started to play the game I found myself cursing them as it seemed they were intentionally trying to take me out. I also was under the impression that similar to GT5, they had tires with super glue because if they just touched me the slightest I would go flying off the track or spin out and no matter what I did to them they would easily recover. It seemed the only way to take them out was with a kamikaze manoeuvre.
But now the LOVE. In one race last night (2nd last Retro I think and driving the Lamborghini) I was starting in 6/8 and one of the Ai's kept blocking me then taking me out. So I went for the revenge kill on the next start. It was not pleasant for either of us. On the next restart, as my car was launching off the start line, that particular Ai, seemed to perceived what was coming and decided to drive into the grass and then the wall only 10 feet from the start line. I was laughing so hard I forgot the hard left at the end of the straight and ran off. So what did the Ai who protected himself do? He smashes into me causing his car to roll over. Ah revenge can be sweet but not without consequences. Unfortunately this caused me to loose a wheel as I approached the next corner, so I was forced to restart again. This time the first corner went without too much incident except for some door bumping. But into the 2nd lap as I came around a sharp corner there to my surprise were 2 cars, spun out and broken down in the middle of the track. I have no idea how I made it between them to hit the fast S's perfectly, but as I made it through I looked back to see my chaser smashing into them. In the next section there is two more cars but this time in the grass and they don't seem able to move. So at the end of the race there were 4 DNF's. I hope the rest of the game is like this, if they could only fix the sloppy control and lag issues. Then this would be "Real Racing".

i have to agree with you because yesterday i was taking the first corner on the Tokyo Dock track just after taking first place, and the car i passed hit the rear end of my car and i spun twice, but i also like the times when you get close and the AI clear the way for you, so i guess you win some and lose others, and i kinda like the on track feel of the game with certain cars, but i hate drifting in this game

Was it Enna Pergusa? I remember doing a retro event there and I also had about 4-5 AIs DNF. Pretty cool :)

Sadly, in the game you lose more a lot more than you win from bad AI.

I hate the drifting because it's really hard, then it's really easy, then it's stupid.

The AI is the one thing being universally praised in professional reviews. The game has problems, but the AI is not one of them.

They are brilliant for a console video game AI...

I've had them smash into the back of me a few times, also when i crash and i am way ahead of them, despite them having a massive ammount of time to react they still come smashing into me. Personally i am not really impressed by the AI, they aren't that bad but also not that great, too aggressive.

The AI are fairly smart in that they move for you, a couple of times I've made the AI crash just by running close to them and they move over.
