Firstly I'd like to say that this is a very bad game. Not the worst but still bad. The framerate is terrible, the PS3 version is waaay smoother than the 360 though.

And you have to buy, with real money, the cars and all the customizing parts off the PlayStation Store. So not only do you have pay £50 for the game itself, you have to also pay about £40 more for all the cars and customizing parts!!! I wouldn't care if you payed £25 for the game and then another £25 for all the other stuff, and I certainly wouldn't care if they just charged us the £50 for the whole game, which is what normal people would do.

EA are charging us £50 for about half a game, and then another £40 for everything else. Not good spending £90 on a game.

It's classic Need for Speed though, which is a good thing because it keeps the classic formula, but the framerate, the fact you've gotta buy everything in the game with real cash, and the dreadful control when you use a G25 are BIG bad points.

Only pick it up if you're a fan of the series and don't buy anything off the Store, just stick with the 5 or so cars you get at the start.

I bought it several weeks ago on sale ($35 US) and was really disappointed. I played for about 2.5hrs and got 50% through the game? I was smoking the AI cars left and right? I did like the fact it recognized my G25 and it was great for getting used to the shifter after I got the wheel. The DLC is just ridiculous since you can get it in the game as you unlock things, the price of the cars is a joke $85k for a Mustang GT? I will get to playing it again someday, but enjoying MC:LA for now.

It didn't know you can now unlock them in the game...I thought you had to buy everything. Still, it's ridiculous.

And using the G25 the game's handling is dreadful! you can't control it at all, and when you go off course and hit something the vibration in the wheel is too powerful, it shook my hands off the actual wheel the first time it happened.

Oh and I agree I'm playing more MCLA than this.

Thats the trap EA wants you to fall in, release stuff thats in the game right away online so people think that its not part of the game and additional DLC so they buy it. Also this way the game can't then technically be accused of having no DLC.. :yuck:

Robin.

I didn't know EA's trick of the trade...I went ahead and bought everything just because I wanted to actually do something in this game (I knew that unless I bought anything I would be bored to death)...I think I made a mistake.

The only decent games they've released this year are Burnout Paradise (but actually that's developed by Criterion, so it doesn't really count as an EA game) FIFA09 and Mirror's Edge (that's developed by DICE so, yet again, it's not EA's work.)

Yeah anything which is just published by EA doesnt count... but anything really in house particularly NFS seems to usually come from their 'game generator machine', high volume, very little quality. One exception which comes to mind is Fifa which always delivers very good results year on year.

Robin.

Yeah, they're trying to make as many games as possible rather than spending time on them.

I'm quite looking forward to Skate2 though.

If you read the fine print for the NFS:U DLC on the PSN it states that it can be unlocked in the game. The prices to unlock it without doing it in the game are outrageously high. I did buy some DLC for Prostreet after it came out since it had cars that were not in the game, particularly the Porsche GT3 RS!👍

I've never seen that before.

Read more carefully. ProStreet is the same way. I unlocked all the ingame cars after about 4 or 5 hours of playing prostreet.

black box is no more. NFS has been ruined the last 4 games. They dont have to drop the name, just make a good game fans of cars and racing enthusiasts can like. Dedicate 2+ years of development to a game and the results can be rewarding.(Midnightclub)..

Need For Speed Undercover - All aboard the fail train.

That is all I will say on this subject.

I must admit if you play it for quite a while it's quite entertaining, but still, quite bad and not what I was expecting. MCLA rules over it any day.

I know I started the thread with all the bad parts of the game...how about we move onto the good parts? If there are any.

I'm pretty sure all the cars - except the Collectors Edition upgrade are unlockable and purchasable in-game, that's what it says in the PS Store.

I got the game for Christmas, and paid for almost all of the stuff as I had the money on my PS Store anyway... I can't be bothered to go through the whole game to unlock everything especially with the framerate issue you pointed out... I just like modifying and driving the cars... Jus fun to try to modify something nice rather than some of the stuff you see people creating...

Does it still have clutch support like Pro Street? That was the only reason I played Pro Street

You can use the clutch, but its not necessary. You can just speed shift without the clutch. I did not try the triangle before the race like in GT5P, then again I only played it for about 3hrs and went 50% in the game. Stick to MCLA or we can hook up an do Prostreet sometime (Drag race?)👍

Pro Street is the only NFS title I have ever really cared for. Its actually pretty fun considering its still locked into 180 degree steering. I bought it a month ago and finished it a few days ago. I only play a few hours a day so it took a little bit o time. I still prefer racing on track to the streets

Got a Bugatti Veyron. It's annoying how every car in the game sounds exactly the same.

I've been playing Undercover a lot recently. I was very suprised to see that when I loaded up the game today there was a patch to download. This patch has fixed all the framerate problems in the game, it now runs super smooth which is a good thing.

After I downloaded the patch today, I did a few events and after one of the events I heard the police speaking about a guy falling of a skateboard, and that the guy was from New San Vanelona....Advertising?💡

I find it a bit suspicious the way you said the PS3 version was the best, then the video review on IGN says it the worst due to the crazy crappy frame rate.
-1 credibility:tdown:

However the thread has other credible info, helping me to not ever buy this game, thanks.👍

Got the 360 version today, updted it and the framerate is beyond awful. As is the AI.

It's sort of fun though I guess, but I'm not sure how long for. I don't seem to be unlocking much at the minute...

Hey why don't you go buy everything on the PStore that you can unlock by playing through anyway!

... Fail.

:lol:I won't be doing that, I very very rarely buy any DLC, let alone stuff you can unlock in the game!

I think my opinion of the game is being swayed slightly by the fact that you can drive and tune an Escort Cosworth. :D

That swayed me a little in Pro Street to, it had a nice car list.

Funny but the Undercover car list looks the same as Prostreet? I may pop it in and do the update just to see if the frame rate really does improve. Heck I am 50% through the game, another hour or so and I should finish it:crazy:

Tried playing it again today, it's got even worse. I had to apply an update to the game today that seems to have fixed a lot of the framerate issues but the handling appears to have suffered for it! Now, when I'm cornering if I corner sharply (which you have to do a lot as the steering sensitivity is off the scale) the car seems to dig into the road and slow you down from 160mph to about 80mph, while the AI cars fly past without losing any speed. Also, why, when I hit a wall do I slow down a massive amount whereas the AI cars carry on at the same speed?

Then there's the fact that they NEVER make mistakes unless one of the cars that was spawned to run you off the road hits them instead. Oh, and I'm running a fully upgraded Audi TT and I just raced against another TT that was much, much quicker than mine. He must have the magic super pro upgrades. The AI is also capable of taking the narrow, debris ridden passageways at about 200mph whereas they slow my car down to about 70. Which is nowhere near fair. It really is a shockingly bad game.

I'm going to trade this in for something better, any suggestions?
