Welcome Evilskyline,

If you can gold the License Tests first up you will get some decent cars.

Endurance races give good prize cars also.

Let us know what you are up to and we can offer more help.

Also do some searches looking for "Best starter car" and "best second car".
That should give you some ideas.

Generally the prize cars get better the harder the races are.

That might work, except that the Diablo was removed from all later versions of the game.. if he doesn't have the initial release of the NTSC version, he can't get the Diablo.

I'm new to GT3 and I need some tips on how to get real good cars. Can anyone help me? :scared:
Hey, welcome to GTPalnet and GT3 in general.

First, let me suggest you check out the sticky threads like LOOK HERE BEFORE YOU ASK on the GT3 board. Many frequent questions are answered there, including, "What's the best... car?"

A good assortment of cars to check out would be the newest RX-7s (FD, in fanboy terms), the Honda Integra Type R, the Ruf RGT, the Subaru 22b, the TVR Tuscan (Speed 6), the Viper GTS-R Oreca, and the Mazda 787B. That's a good assortment of cars to investigate.

The best bang for the buck in the early phases of the game is probably the SVT Mustang Cobra-R. You get a lot of power, decent handling, and good tire life in one cheap package.

Go do the FF race in Novice Mode, you'll get one of the best cars in the game ;) Honest though, I love the Vitz... as crazy as it makes me <_<

Good cars depend on so many things, such as driving style, how much of a challange you want, and like your personal taste in cars. Me, I refuse to drive a single US made car in the game, so thus I did the American Muscle races in an Acura Intergra Type R. That BTW, is a good, affordable car. Can complete the Pro FF races without even using a turbo.

My personal favs car wise are the MR2 GT-S, the MR-S, the Trueno (both norm and SS), the Vitz, and for a powerhouse, the ZZII. Notice my slight preference for Toyota... >_>

All what, nine of them?! Why on earth would you refuse to drive American cars?

There are some fun American cars you can drive. I personally love the Corvette Grand Sport, and the Camaro SS is pretty good once it's suped up. And I started out with an SVT Cobra as soon as I had enough money to buy it. I used it in many races and even took it to the Super Speedway enduro to win an F-1 car. I wouldn't rule out American cars in GT3 at all!

*raps Duke's knuckles*

Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R
Acura 3.2CL
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Chevrolet Corvette GrandSport
Chevrolet C5-R
Chevrolet Camaro SS
Chevrolet Camaro Z28
(Chevrolet Camaro Race Car)
Dodge Viper GTS
Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept
Dodge Team Oreca Viper
Chrysler PT Cruiser

That's eleven, unless you count the fantasy Camaro.

Of course, if you rule out US-made cars, you can still drive the Acura Integra Type-R, Acura NSX (x2), Ford Focus WRC, Ford Escort WRC, Ford GT40 Road Car and Ford Gulf GT40 Race Car.

Still, they represent the best budget buys in the game (Mustang, Camaros), the fastest FR at Test Course (Viper GTS) and two of the best standard FRs (C5-R, GTS-R Oreca). Why you'd rule them out totally is beyond me.

Hi and welcome 👍 First, you might want to check the "prize car list", so you'll know wich car you'll be awarded when you win certain races/series etc... Then, it all depends on how much credit$ you have or want to spend in buying a car?????
If you're just starting out, i suggest the Madza Miata MX5 @ 16,900 credit$, it handles well as is or "upgraded", or even try the Mazda Demio GL-X, @ 14,660. Yea, it's a crappy minivan, but believe it or not, it handles really good and if you add HP etc..... it...rocks :dopey: BTW, do you have 2 memory cards?? If you do, buying cars will be alot easier for you!! Take care and....enjoy the game!! Good luck! 👍

The reason why I rule them out is not because of the game, but because I just dislike them in real life. The only American made sports car I have any decent respect for is the Corvette, the C5 and the C6 generations. I don't like big engines, lots of cylinders, heavy weight, and the likes - in real life. I transfer that back to the game. The only car in my last save that I had bought with more than 4 cylinders was a Supra, and that was for a friend. The only 6 cylinder cars I drove with any regularity were my ZZII and my NSX Type S Zero. I'm just odd like that.

And Mustangs... yeah... I don't like to even touch them... they are doom... except maybe the classic '64 1/2 (just cause its a classic) or maybe the brand new one, since they finally re did the chassis and shell and all that stuffs.

Famine, which motor company is responible for the GT40 and the Focus. I could see Mazda on the Focus, since they did the Escort and Probe more or less... but the GT40 seems before them...??

Ford Europe is entirely to blame for the Escort, Focus and WRC versions. The Escort was built in Dagenham, UK, the Focus is built, I believe, in Germany and the WRC vehicles were built by Ford Racing in the UK.

Ford Europe is also responsible for the GT40 road and race cars. They were all built in Slough, UK.

Oh, you mean production locations.. ahh. I was refering to design and home country of the core contributer of parts. The Escort has a good amount of Mazda parts, but what you're saying makes sense. I just don't think about production location... cause like half of Toyota's or more would be US cars... NOOO!!

Then again, many US cars would be Mexican... :D

The development plant in Slough was entirely responsible for the design and manufacture of the Ford GT40 - having stolen a Lola engineer. Ford USA contributed the engine.

Again, Ford Europe created the Escort and Focus with complete autonomy. Ford USA liked the Focus so much - which went from first sketch to production line in 120 days - they bought it for the US market too.

Hmm.... I guess you like Fords?

Yeah, tis true about the Mexican cars :D

I was aware the Focus was mostly a European car, made for that market, much like... what is that is the mini Focus... RS??

But I guess I get to learn new stuff everyday, cause I'm the :dunce: when it comes to information on "US" cars.

I've kind of grown up with Fords (European ones anyway). But you may notice I have an ability to soak up otherwise totally useless information :D

The Ford Focus RS has 212hp and front-wheel drive. Due to low weight and a rather tricky piece of engineering (okay, a Quaife LSD), it can outrun a UK-spec Subaru Impreza Turbo on a track. It's bobbins on a long, straight piece of road though.

My dad had an ST170 Focus - 170hp - which I seem to recall is the same as the SVT Focus in the USA.

The Focus RS Cosworth has not yet seen light of day. 300hp and 4WD...

I actually respect the Focus, mostly cause of its WRC connection.. Marko Martin is insane.. I saw his frist season... talented driver.

Yeah, I've absorbed an array of useless facts on Toyota's as well, such as the engine swaps in a Tercel (yeah, the econo box) for turbos and stuff. Also, how to tell teh diff between the various 4A-GE Engines in MR2s and Corollas.

Gotta love knowing stuff that most peopel just go "eh?'" to :D

I will honestly never understand this kind of thinking. Never.

I have nothing against the Focus, but I find that '120 days' figure highly unbelievable.

Maybe that's how they came up with the name...? Everyone was Focus-ed, to get this car in... production!! Darn, i like German Engineering VW's, but now... VW is a ...Mexican car :( (assembled in Mexico) :sick:I wonder if it'll run on.. tequila?

I'm just scratching my brains here.

I think I may have got the cars mixed up. It may have been the Puma which went from drawing board to production line in 120 days. On reflection it seems more logical, since the car is basically a rebodied Mk3.5 Fiesta with a few tweaks and an optional 1.7i Yamaha engine...

Reading Magazine articles in Wheels and Mordern motor in Australia thay say that the new Ford Focus which will be released in 2005 is based on the Mazdz3 platform.
Is that true or false.

That sounds more reasonable. The Neon was the first American-designed compact car to actually turn a direct profit. Until then, American compacts had been loss-leaders and CAFE-padders, and not much else. One main reason the Neon was able to make money was the extremely quick and efficient design method Chrylser used. Nonetheless it still took the better part of 3 years:
Development Cost: $1.3 billion, including two body styles, two and four doors; new engines; new manual transmission; two satellite stamping plants (Belvidere and Toluca); new satellite fascia plant (Belvidere); renovations to two assembly facilities (Belvidere and Toluca).

By comparison, the Ford Contour cost $6 billion (worldwide) to develop but was generally rated below the equivalent Dodge. The Neon was generally rated as the top small car - Consumer Reports being an exception.

31 Months from program approval to Job 1 (first day of production)

That would be true.

Other cars being built on the Mazda3 platform are the Volvo s60?? (whatever the small one is) and the Lincoln Zephyr.
