Need help, and quick! (Probelm resolved)

I no longer trust the funny videos section at all. Whenever something on my computer goes drastically wrong, it is when im trying to watch a video from there, my computer freezes, and i have to crash.
Why I say this is because i just got a pretty big scare. After having to crash my computer, i restart and hear a few little beeping noises. I then get the message "Operating system not found" which absolutely scared the 🤬 out of me
. Fortunately, when i restarted it again, it was fine.
I see this as another big sign that i need to back up my files, and get another computer (which is not an option for a while).

Dude, you don't need a new computer as much as a new Operating System. Ditch Win ME ASAP. And maybe spend the 40 bucks on a new HDD.

I'd rather just go for it if money is going to be spent. As i said, ME has just been acting strangely in the past week or two, but has been running fine for a good solid year or two since i had a bad virus and was forced to restore.
I still don't feel it as bad as you guys make it out to be, especially seeing that i have used it for 7+ years. I do agree that ME is bad though.
I will soon get my dads computer (windows xp, 80gb hard drive, 2gb of RAM, Pentium 4 processor) once my mom is able to get a deal on a really good computer (All i know for now is that is has dual quad processors) for $600 through her job.
