Man, I thought this would never happen. When I turn on my cpu, it blinks on and off, I just installed a new HSF. I can see my blue fan blinking on and off. HELP!! :ouch: It just keeps blinking on and off without video or anything.

Sounds like you may have fried something.

If you're using the popular Artic Silver 5, and got it on the wrong parts of the CPU(wrong parts being anything other than the core), you may have fried it.

That's the main reason I went with Ceramique.

If I had a P4, or A64, I'd deffinitely go AS5 as they have protectors over their cores, but the Athlons don't. If this is the case, you're screwed.

Take off your HSF and check to see if it got anywhere it shouldn't have. 👍

I had the same thing happen to me, but it turned out the power supply was the culprit. Id try plugging the pc into the wall, or a different socket.
Hope that helps at all.

Whew, The on and off blinking was actually my motherboards over temperature protection (thank god for that). Turns out, my heatsink wasnt touching the cpu. The arctic silver actually turned yellow and smelled like it was burnt 0_0.. My cpu is ok though :)

Glad to hear all is well. Next time, try to make your title even less descriptive!
