hey.. just got finished doing the super speedway endurance and a cash prize of 200,000 ......... im thinking about buying a new car. I won the Renualt , it seems nice but underpowered. I have a Z06 which i really like... tuned up to almost 700 hp without the TURBO4 , do u think i should just go ahead and get the Turbo4 for the Z06 ? ....... how is the zonda C12S and the V8 Vantage ? I haven't had much time getting into this game but right now im really hooked up with it and having a lot of fun. The endurance took me an hour in my lotus esprit which is around 1050 HP .... nice MR car.. So, which car ?

Hi Musroc

The answer to this one is by no means simple as you will need quite a few different cars to complete the game given that there are a number of series which require either a specific sub-set of models and/or a specific drive-train.

The cars you are looking at (e.g. the Esprit, the Zonda and the Vantage) are all cars which require a fair degree of skill to get the best out of (although they are amongst my personal favorites) so you might be better served, if you are just starting out, to go for something a bit easier to handle.

Run a few of the earlier and easier series and see what prize cars you turn up. Give them a bit of a trip round the circuit of your choice and get a feel for if you like them or not. If you win one of the lower end Race Bodied cars (such as the Camero Race Car or the Vertigo) then it would probably be best to stick with that for a while until you get a handle (no pun intended :)) on tuning and driving.

If you are already some way into the game then you should be getting an idea about what you need or what suits you and any advice from an external source would be redundant.

As an aside to the technical intent of your question, you'll probably find that you get better {and kinder :scared:} responses from the membership if you make an attempt at the use of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation when making posts (and I'm not poking fun or trying to insult you here, so please don't take offense).

'Text-ese' might be fine on your mobile but it doesn't go down well out here in web-land. I don't know how experienced you are in net-etiquette but being flamed is not a pleasant experience (and posts like the one above draw fire like nothing on earth !) so be warned 👍.

Thanks. Sorry if I caused any inconvenience :) . Anyway , I'm gonna go ahead and upgrade my Z06 to stage 4. That should set it up to about 800 hp which should help me win some races. I've been playing GT3 for about 5 months now but an hour a week or even less at times due to school work, etc. The more I practise , the more I seem to get a grip on the game. Its really addictive and I love trying simple tunings for my car. Anyway , gotta get back to the game and upgrade my baby.. thanks again and sorry for my poor english.

Keep at it my friend - the GT series really rewards practice in general terms and the more you run a given car on a given circuit then the faster you become :D.

Once you start to feel that you're coming to terms with the handling characteristics of vehicles within the game and the physical parameters that you can work with, it is worth your while to get involved in an OLR (On-Line Racing) event that catches your eye and see how you fare. If the event draws the right sort of drivers then you'll find that you'll learn an awful lot about how the particular car chosen handles, what quirks the events circuit might have, what tuning set-ups people are having success with and so on.

Be prepared for the fact that there are always drivers who will be faster than you are but set yourself certain performance goals (like getting a fastest lap that beats a certain target time) and try to match those. Before you know it (well, in a couple of years or so in my case :O) you'll be mixing it up with the Big Guns of the racing fraternity :).

If you're interested in finding out more about the tuning aspects of the game then first take a look here (if you haven't already) https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=365&f=116 for a good grounding in the Black Arts :D.

Finally, don't worry too much about the quality of your first post - a lot of 'first timers' from the Mobile 'Phone Generation start off with posts like that. The trick is not to get 'known' for it ... that's when it starts to get hot .

Welcome aboard 👍

Sukerkin is right that different cars suit different people, and that experience will give you the best insight into what will work for you.

My personal favourite is the TVR Tuscan. It can be a bit tail-happy, but if you're already driving a high-powered FR it shouldn't be anything you can't handle. Others I like are the Motorsport Elise, which is low powered but lightweight and has razor-sharp handling, and the Ruf RGT. The RGT is one of the few cars in the game that still drives well when fully tuned, and is widely regarded as one of the best road cars in the game.

I've never been able to get to grips with the Zonda. It's hellishly fast when it's tuned, but I just can't seem to get it set up to work for me.

Chris

Thanks. I guess I'm just starting out and have a lot to learn. I upgrade my Z06 and its really fast. I did have a look at the RUF RGT and it seems to be a nice car. I spent some cash so I will have to save up to buy that car. I'm almost done with all the beginner leagues and a couple of the amateur leagues. Like you said, the thing that drives me is beating the time. I'm starting to learn some tuning aspects of the car and seems like every car has a different learning curve in the game. :scared: . I will be polishing my skills until GT4 comes out.

How do you guys get so much money in your bank ? I've seen people talk about 50 million, etc. Do these guys actually win races and earn or do it the easy way with gameshark codes ? Because, I've a hard time earning cash :guilty: .

This time I cheated and used a code for extra money, but the first couple of times through the game I earned it. As you progress through the game, the cash prize for winning races goes up, as does the value of the car you're awarded when you win a series. By the time you get into Pro league, winning a race series will reward you with a lot of cash and a valuable car. Quite often you'll win a race car, so you don't really need to spend anything on it.

I just reached a point where I was winning more than I was spending, and I sold off cars that I didn't like or that I had duplicates of, which made even more money.

Personally, I choose to check the prize list to see what race to run to get the car I want. Buying a car seems like a waste of money unless it's a car you really want or need to complete a series.

If I had to buy a car I would buy the TVR Speed 6. Excellent handling car. Doesn't have a ton of power though. I always preferred the grand sport over the Z06.

This is easy...buy a RUF 3400s and learn the glories of it's handling. Once you feel comfortable with that step up to the best car in the game, the RUF RGT. It will change your life!

I've just recently bought a 3400s after reading one of your posts about how good it is Kensei. Must say that I'm pretty impressed!

Chris

Right? That car, stright from the dealer with no mods (though race tires help) has such amazing balance and feel. Most cars in GT3 need some tuning or mods to become good or really good, not the 3400s. When you do start adding parts to it (this goes for any car actually) add them one at a time so you can feel what specifically changes in the car.

My only critique of the 3400s straight out of the box is I wish it had another 20-40hp, but that can be solved with parts if needed.

enjoy the car. Try the RGT afte ryou get a good feel for the 3400s. After that I bet you will rarely use anything else...hahaha.

I thought i was the only one who noticed. :D

I already have an RGT, it kicks arse. I'm becoming quite a Ruf fan, although my heart still belongs to TVR. I'm not sure which I prefer between the RGT and the 3400, they're both so good!

One of the things I like about the TVRs is that power oversteer is there if you want it. Same with the 3400, where the RGT just seems to dig in and go. Nope, still can't choose, glad I've got both! I'm thinking of buying another 3400 to use for the PD cup, as my first is tuned.

hey guys, got my first RUF RGT and its a blast. The handling is just great. I did a run on the complex string and pulled off a 4:49.xxx , stock .. Actually, on the last part , I think its the s turn before the long right turn, I just go over it without losing any speeds. Thats cheating but its fun :dopey: . I'm gonna pull off some upgrades and learn more about this car. Seems like the perfect car. Thanks again. Haven't tried the 3400 but sure sounds like a nice car. I'm still low on bank but I haven't done any of the pro league races, and im just starting out on the amateur league races.

Go win the MR Challenge in Professional League, and you'll win the BEST non-racing car in the game, the Tommy Kaira ZZII.

I will..... I just finished upgrading my RGT and its upto 1050 HP now. I managed to pull off 1:06.xx at midfield with this setup . i dont think its a good time but still I managed to keep the car on the road at all times. Wheelspin is an issue so I had to turn the TCS up to 1 to decrease wheelspin. The car handles great and feels great......... Great choice 👍

I suppose I should edit that comment about the ZZII being the best non-racing car in the game. It is actually classified as a race car in real life, and I think that's whay you can't enter it into the PD cup, which is for normal cars only. Nevertheless, the slogan for Volkswagon (the worst car company in North America, IMO) applies to the ZZII:

"Drive one...you'll get it."

i think you should use your best car and then race it in the euro champion race serie and just win the racecar there 3 times and then you can buy a racecar like the CR5

The Gillet Vertigo that you win in the Euro series is a faaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr better car than the CR5 can ever hope to be. So keep the Vertigo and the money.

:)

If you haven't already, you should win the European Championship in the Amateur League. Save with the save icon after you win the fourth race. Quit the fifth race and if you don't get the Vertigo Race Car, reload the game and try again. By the way, the Zonda C12 is the car you should get if you're buying.

Get the Gillet and you can win any of the professional championships with it, like dream car cup and world championship and GT all stars etc.

:dopey: Here's a little help, if you need to buy a car. but you need to have 2 memory cards!! 💡
If you do have 2 memory cards, do this: load your game/garage to both cards, slot 1 and slot 2,(with a magic marker, mark the cards #1>slot 1, and #2>slot 2, now, sell all cars you have in your garage and buy the car you want, and if you have enough credit$ left, upgrade it as much as your credits allow you to and then save the game on card #2(slot 2 only, of course). Now, restart the game(it should start from card #1-slot 1, then, go to: home/trade and load garage from slot 2/, the car you just bought and upgraded to the max, should be there for you to buy with card #1 at the dealer's price, but it will now be upgraded to the max(if you did upgraded to the max). after you buy it, press the back botton on controller and check if the car is in the garage #1 card(slot 1), if it is, save game in slot 1 only!! You can do this process over and over with your 2 memory cards!! Hope you understood !? :scared: 👍 enjoy!! :sly:

:dopey: ...If you participate in the "Professional League" and do the " GT World Championship" Series", if you win 7 races  , you should have enough points to win the "championship", :) wich will reward you with credit$ and a "bonus car"(check bonus car list). One of those "bonus car", is the (blue)Nissan R390 road car, worth 500.000cr(2.200.000 if you want to buy it)and to me, it's the best handling car in the game, apart from the F1 cars. After you've won the 7th race, save the game, then, skip/exit the remaining 3 races, and after you get the trophy and credit$, you'll get the "bonus car". If the "bonus car" is not the R390, simply resatrt the game and repeat the skip/exit the last 3 races. etc... till you get it, when you do get it, save the game, and.... 👍 ...you'll love that car!!Guaranteed!! :sly:
