I need some feedback for a Geography project. It has to do with the branding of a country.

I need some UK GTP members to look at the official United Kingdom tourism website:
http://www.visitbritain.us/

And tell me if this site accurately represents your country.

I appreciate your help!

Purely based on the Liverpool page, as it's where I've lived most of my life, I would say the website represents the city quite accurately and gives a reasonably broad spectrum snap shot of its identity although it does focus on The Beatles a lot but this is to be expected. One criticism of the website would be it recommends to “check out today's "Liverpool Sound" in the legendary Cavern Club.”, the current Cavern Club is not the same building The Beatles used to play at and it doesn’t represent today’s “Liverpool Sound” in any way shape or form! It is tacky dive that only plays the worst kind of pop music and should be avoided by most tourists all sane people!

Also having this picture as the first to be shown on the homepage is a bit twee to say the least, [sarcasm] we all wear bowler hats these days[/sarcasm]

ick, cheap grab for advertising
its interesting they have an article on st george's day, most people don't seem to know of it  i marshall for the parade in the village and peds and motorists are constantly asking what we are doing and who this george guy is
I realise they do probably only appreciate paying visitors shoved on a coach dragged in a precession to typical 'attractions' but i'm surprised they don't seem to have much about the more interesting things, the quieter places and the good views, surely not everyone wants to see the same thing everyone else does? and hey, no love for the home of titanic and spitfires :grumpy:

It's what I'd expect, to be honest. I mean it's an American based site so I'd expect us to be portrayed in the traditional jolly ho, good show old boy manner. Which is logical, I suppose. The only reason our tourism websites don't conform to that stereotype is that most of us are busy falling in love with New York, so to compete we basically copy that image and apply it to our Cities. Like uh...

Yeeeeaah.

One thing I don't believe it mentions on that site is the pond life that populates most inner city areas. Most people are nice, but if you see a bunch of people wearing tracksuits, eating McDonalds and pushing 22 pushchairs about, avoid them. They will rob you. They're the groups of people who the government likes to look after while the normal hard working people get left in the gutter.

Put that in your project. ;)
