need help with my ps2 not playing gt4

I don't know where to put this so I will here. My ps2 will not play gt4, so I bought a new copy of the game. Still doesn't work, it will play everything but? I'm lost please help, I'm in need of some racing

Do you have a Gameshark or Action Replay? You might try to boot using one of those with no cheats selected. It might do the trick and get the disk going. I'd suggest trying this before you start to tear the thing open. If it's brand new you might not want to void the warranty right away (though I seem to void the warranty of everything that I get within the first week, heh.)

No it's stock, well it's atleast 2 1/2 years old. It's been played to hell though! 3 madden's, gt4, but your talking to guy that killed a xbox in about the same time. I don't think that I would feel comfortable to tear into it! I think this would be a job for game crazy. Thanks for the help guys

Take it too an Electrician. I wouldnt know much about them because we never need one (my dad fixes everything) but I'm sure if they tear into it for you they might find a problem. But then again that might not be necessary if it plays other discs.

Well, the thread TB posted is pretty much all you need to know about how to fix it.

You can clean the lens, adjust the height of the lens, and (not suggested at all) adjust lens power.

I took apart two PS2's, 1 xbox and they been through hell. MY nephews always bothering me when I work on it. But unfortunately a certain taping came off the Drive Reader and I just gave up on it. Then I used that Ps2 for scrap parts and eventually gave the shell and whats ever left to my friend.
