Hey guys.

I just got Shift 2 on the PS3 and the handling using a G25 is.....floaty, to say the least. I tried for AGES, adjusting and fiddling with settings - but nothing! :nervous:

Please could you guys post below your current G25 settings (for PS3 please)!!

Thanks all, just pile on the suggestions (as realistic handling as possible, please).

Much appreciated!

Reppie :)

Hi, the only one i know him that he can help you is ( STEVE182 ) he is the best one in my opinion and this he offer for other person to help him . ( wheel setting if you like to try them.👍YouTube Link[/QUOTE]. )

Thank you guys, more suggestions please! If I can't get it to handle right I'm going to sell this game!

TBH I have tried a bunch of the different wheel setting out there and in the end the PS3 version still handles like ****. I think its an inherent flaw in the programming, and as the cars get faster it gets worse. I got about 1/2 way through the game and prettymuch gave up as I had to change my driving style too much just to be able to make it around the track quickly.

Racing without the SOTP feedback of a real car and adjusting to that like in a game like GT5 is bad enough, but then dealing with controls that almost feel delayed, cars that seem to slide way too easily, and collisions that attach you to the guy hitting you, becomes a recipe for frustration. I really wanted to like this game, the style is awesome and the track and car selection is great, but I had to give up when I realized I was having more frustration than fun.

PS from what I read here the PC version does not have the issues of the PS3 version. I may pick it up some day and give the game another shot.

youtube S2U182 wheel settings for Elite mode, also some car set-ups. Give the C class impreza a try with the wheel settings on Elite handling 👍 It dose take a bit of getting into after GT5, but once you adapt its very rewarding. I can jump for Shift2 to GT5 no problem now 👍 Spend most time on Shift2 tho cos GT5 is a little dull

true things...

I'd like to add though that at first I spent a long time tweaking the control settings, but it is possible to get too caught up in the settings.

A couple of weeks ago after a mate's birthday a bunch of people came back to our house. I crashed out on the sofa and the missus crashed out in bed. My mates in the meantime tried playing S2U. In the process they set all the control settings to default.

When I next played I only noticed because they had also switched to auto gears, but despite the wheel settings being completely different to what I was used to it wasn't undriveable like it was when I first started playing.

Although adjusting wheel settings and car setups does improve things, the real key to this game is plenty of practice. A lot like real driving

[edit]
PS. Also don't focus on winning, focus on enjoying the racing - making the podium is just a bonus - something GT5 has completely forgotten.

I will practice, thanks guys. I have found a quite good setup and am getting used to it slowly.

Exactly Mr.S! The very same reason I don't play Gt5 much....

Do you still have Shift 2, Mr.S? If you do then I'll add you.

Thanks all ;)

I play the default settings on my G27 and it feels pretty much like handling 3000 lbs of runaway steel. Kind of like driving a car. ;)
Practise, practise, practise - that is the secret of getting into S2; and when you finally get your rides to obey - it's rewarding. In fact as rewarding as a stomach-churning bath of sweat after a huge battle with the AI
You will either be drained and victorious, or very angry. (At yourself. And the game.)

I love GT - especially 4, and yes, 5, too - but S2 gives me the rush I want when I want it, where I want it, and how I want it.
No lack of quick races in this game; get familiar with your wheel - and then enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

^^^ Something that GT5 has forgotten 👎

I've had S2U for about a week now, and I am finding it great. I have totally gotten used to playing it with my G25 and custom settings :)

Thanks all for the help - I'm off to drive my 780bhp GT-R :sly:👍

Honestly this game's wheel physics are just horrible. There really isn't much that can be done. I adjusted my wheel until I got it to be like 1% less horrible, but you eventually just get used to it. Then it becomes very bearable.

Agreed:tup:
And dont forget to tune each car as the default suspension settings are usually completely stupid - and make sure you bring the steering lock down to 11-14 and increase the castor angle to 18ish. <This lessens the overly snappy tank slapping on the straights!!!:scared:

Erm....I'm not too good at actual setting tuning, so any ideas for bases (RWD, MR, FR, FF) would be AMAZING!

Thanks all, please share your setting bases :)

I try the car out first and see if it under/oversteers, wobbles on entry/exit in corners.
Then I go into the tuning (make sure you purchase full suspension and LSD).
Then in the suspension tuning page, read each spring description carefully and make adjustments - and take advantage of live tuning - that function is really cool for instant feedback on your tune.
It also depends on your driving style - I prefer understeer to oversteer, so my cars tend not to be snappy - I use the LSD to give it just enough turn to get round the tightest hairpin - like Miami - and good traction in acceleration.

What cars do have that I might be able to help with?

Gilly73, thanks for the advice. The main cars I would need help with is anything high power, rear wheel drive (911 GT2, Merc SLS, Vette Z06, Zonda F).

Thanks alot!

No probs.
Here's my SLS tune:

Tire pressure 50F/45R
Brake balance 43
Brake pressure 10

Steering lock 13
Caster angle 18
Toe Front 23 rear 24
front camber26
rear camber 31

Ride height F2 R3

Limited slip acceleration - 6
Limited slip deceleration 6
Limited slip preload 0 (this could be played with more)

Downforce F4 R4

Springs
Sway bar F6 R3
Spring rate F4 F4
Bump stop 0 front and rear

Dampers
front damper fast bump 7
front damper slow bump 3
Front damper fast rebound 12 Slow rebound 12
rear damper Fast bump 6 Slow bump 4
Rear damper fast rebound 4 slow rebound 4

Drivetrain - kept it as it was - but alter for slow or highspeed tracks accordingly.

Vette Z06 tune:

A total beast to tame, but this tune has taken SOME of the snappiness out of the rear end!
Tire pressure 50F/45R
Brake balance 45
Brake pressure 0 (Sounds odd but suits me)

Steering lock 13
Caster angle 18
Toe Front 22 rear 23
front camber28
rear camber 32

Ride height F1 R2

Limited slip acceleration - 7
Limited slip deceleration 8
Limited slip preload 0

Downforce F18 R18

Springs
Sway bar F5 R3
Spring rate F4 F4
Bump stop 1 front and rear

Dampers
front damper fast bump 7
front damper slow bump 2
Front damper fast rebound 11 Slow rebound 11
rear damper Fast bump 7 Slow bump 2
Rear damper fast rebound 0 slow rebound 0

Drivetrain - kept it as it was - but alter for slow or highspeed tracks accordingly.

These tunes are based on these game settings:
Handling - elite
ABS yes
Steering assist - no
braking asst - no
traction - low (though I'm working on removing this soon)
Stability control - no
Damage - full

Force FB strength 100%
Steering deadzone - 0% (This is magic)
Steering sensitivity - 5%
Throttle deadzone - 0% (This is also magic)
Throttle sensitivity - 35%
brake deadzone - 0%
brake sensitivity - 35%
Clutch DZ - 2% Sensitivity - 50%
Speed sensitivity - 100 % (Drift also)

I'm still feeling my way though these settings (and I use the good old DS3 controller) but I have to say that the game is so much more playable. Avoiding switching between Shift 2 and GT5 - makes me feel I can't drive at all!!!!!

Any suggestions for better set ups gratefully received. Hope this helps you enjoy what is a superb but much derided game!👍
