Or earbuds. My pair that are worth about $5 just stopped working, after the insulation cracked in five different places. These technically were my grandmother's and I need to refund that. I like the style with in-ear buds, that are actually lodged in your ear with a nub, rather than the pair I am now wearing that just sort of sit in your ear.

My budget is 10-20 dollars. The real question is, anything I should stay away from? I'd like these to kind of last for more than a year.

Basically these.

Same manufacturer, but different model. They worked great until five minutes ago.

JVC Marshmallows

But they do transfer noise through the cord, so they wouldn't be good for jogging, tornadoes, etc.

Admittedly, I'm asking if anything at Walmart I be wary of. I'm going to ask my brother to take me down to Target tomorrow, and I was wondering if I should stay away from a particular model or brand.

These. They are my go to cheap headphones because they sound pretty darn good and are great for flights and car trips. I also use them when riding and some other physical activity, the noise transfer isn't that bad really. Though I may be use to it because I've used ear-canal headphones for the past 3 years or so...

I own a pair of Sony ear buds that were $19 at walmart, they sound great, and fit comfortably, and they're extremely durable ( they've been through a complete wash and dry cycle, been worn to any number of intensive activities, including but not limited to; duck stall cleaning, exercise, running, cocker spainel crate cleaning, dog bathing and bull feeding.

Not sure if they still stock them anywhere, they haven't been at my walmart in ages, but I've had these a year and a half, and they haven't broken, whereas I was going through a pair a month before that.

From,
Chris.

I bought these over a year ago because I was getting tired of my earbuds getting pulled out, or just falling out, while exercising, mowing or snowblowing. Despite the sub-ten dollar price, I've been very happy with them. Sure, there are a few minor things I'd change but they were $10. It's not like they are a pair of LiveWires.

Any Philips or Panasonic's are good. Some Philips came with my Mp3 player and worked fine.
And I found some ol' Panasonics at the Train Station by my school. Dusted them off (and washed the ear bud :scared:) and they worked work fine. My sister's got 'em now, as I've got some new better ones. My friends think they're NZ$40 to even $60 and i got them for $18. They're from a store called Dick Smith Electronics, and AFAIK, they're only in Aussia and New Zealand.

Oh yeah those JVC are good with crisp audio but they do lack a little bass. You should be careful about pulling on those headphones because one of the buds went out on me. I would call the sound quality a 9/10 but sadly they can break easily.

Really? My only problem is having to find the best level of loudness when going from one source of audio to the next.

Well I think my pair broke within 6 months and it was a different model. But my old Skullcandy Smokin' buds lasted for two years before one of the buds went out. After my JVC's broke I got some Sony's and that also only lasted 6 months under constant use. Right now I currently using a pair similar to this one. They don't give me the quality that I want but the sound is still good at about 9 of 10. Right now I never really use any canal headphones unless if I had to sit in the car for a long trip.

Honestly you will need to invest 30 to 40 bucks if you want any headphones to last you more than one year.

EDIT: I have also found these headphones for $9.95. I don't know the credibility on this website but these headphones usually sell for 30 bucks and it is a behind the head type of headphones.

Or, you know, you can just listen to me and spend 20 bucks on Koss.

I'll be going down to the store in a few hours, I'll write down all of these names and see what I get. Thank you, everyone.

Grabbed a cheap set of headphones. I'd really rather I didn't choose Skullcandy, but they were the only in-ear earbuds around my price range.

Well, they sound nice. Could do with a bit more low end bass, but they're good. Comfy too. They were $16, but they were half off.

EDIT: Skullcandy Ink'd. I looked up reviews, apparently, they're going to detonate in a number of days and I'll be out $8.

Keep the packaging and receipt. Crisis averted.

That is generally what Skullcandy products do.

Like I said, get the JVC Marshmallows.

I have a set of Ink'ds, and I've had them for a fair while (a year, easy) and they still work fine - nothing's gone wrong or broken in them. I personally have no problem with their sound quality, and the only real beefs I have with them are the noise transmitted through simply moving the headphone wire (forget about jogging while using them) and like Cody said in the thread EvilNeal linked they're not terribly comfortable for long periods (you might say they're comfy now, but leave them in for a few hours, then come back  ).

Certainly not bad canals for the price though (I got mine for NZ$30 or something).

I don't understand why Skullcandy have built up such a decient reputation because all they really are about is fashion / style and not so much about quality. Its like some kind of fad that people have bought in to where you want your bud's to be as obnoxious looking as possible (I know the whole range isnt like that).

Seriously, when you want good audio stick to established electronics brands. They may look dull but they work well and last. Get something from JVC, Panasonic or Philips.

Robin.

...don't forget to look into Walmart's return policy on their electronics. It's usually 14-15 days, which covers most anything you might want actually use but later find it's a piece of landfill matter.

I really like original apple earphones and i get the from ebay at about 15 dollars including shipping from hong kong, they are geniune apple and costa half of what the stoe sells them at, they don't last very long though, but have a microphone

Well, I don't really care about a microphone or any sort of gadget. My priorities are, the headphones being in-ear, then them having longevity, then sound quality, then design. I only got the Skullcandys because they were the only in-ear headphones in my price range. All the others were either fluorescent purple, or were way too expensive. I'm reasonably happy with my purchase, I'll just have to treat them with care.

FYI, those have terrible audio quality. And I do mean terrible.
